Founded in 1938, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a membership organization for African-American mothers of

children ages 2 to 19, dedicated to raising the next generation of African-American leaders while

enhancing the lives of ALL children. We have more than 11,500 active members in 254 chapters across the
country. With programming for the entire family, we engage mothers, fathers and children who come

from predominantly married (85%), college educated (99%) households. The majority of our members
are ages 40 to 49 years old (55%).

NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROGRAM PRIORITIES

Chapter Programming is the “heart” of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. It is the way that we “create a medium

of contact for children that stimulates growth and development.” Chapters across the country create

youth programs centered on the National Program Priorities: EDUCATION, CULTURAL, CIVIC,

SOCIAL/RECREATIONAL, and HEALTH.

VISION/MISSION

The vision of the Jack and Jill of America Foundation is to transform African-American communities,

one child at a time. Our mission is to address issues affecting African-American children and families, by

investing in programs and services that create a strong foundation for children to thrive long-term.

Our Teen Leadership Conference attendees will include families and community members
from three of the four states representing our region – North Carolina, South Carolina,
Virginia and West Virginia. The region is composed of 3 2 chapters. Three (3) N o r t h
C a r o l i n a Chapters – Capital City, Durham and Fayetteville will host the 2 0 2 3 Teen
Leadership Conference at the Raleigh Convention Center.

OUR FOUNDATION

Jack and Jill of America Foundation was established in 1968 as the philanthropic arm of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
to improve the lives of children, especially those in disadvantaged and underserved areas. Local Jack and Jill
chapters execute the Foundation’s mission and are led by members who instill philanthropy and leadership ideals in
their children. The Foundation also provides grants annually to carefully selected organizations a c r o s s t h e
c o u n t r y that can make the greatest impact on African-American children and families in the areas of Education,
Health and Wellness & Nurture of the Family Unit.

DESCRIPTION

The Teen Leadership Conference is a three-day event. The purpose of the
conference is to create a medium that enables Jack and Jill teens to engage
in leadership development activities, including educational, cultural, recreational
and philanthropic programs created for and by the teens of the Mid-Atlantic
Region. The objectives of Teen Leadership Conference are to:

• Provide an opportunity for teens to interact, network and share ideas regarding
issues affecting their development;

• Introduce teens to leadership and personal development skills;
• Foster teamwork and communication among chapters in the Mid-Atlantic

Region.
• Provide an opportunity for each chapter to work as a team and to present the

talent and skills of their teens through awards and competition;
• Recognize their achievements over the past year; and
• Provide an opportunity to participate in community service.

Our theme this year is: “MELANIN MAGIC”
