VIGIL MASS
ENTRANCE HYMN
O paradise, O paradise! Who doth not crave for
rest?
OPENING PRAYER
Almighty God, you commanded us to honour our
parents. We ask you to grant forgiveness to our
mother Mrs. Pauline Nnedinma Victor-Ogbuozobefor
any sin committed through human frailty. Grant that we
may meet together with her again one day in your
kingdom. Through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
FIRST READING
A reading from the Book of Wisdom (Wis. 3:1-6, 9)
The souls of the virtuous are in the hands of God,
no torment shall ever touch them. In the eyes of the
unwise, they did appear to die, their going looked
like a disaster, their leaving us, like annihiliation :
But they are in peace. If they experienced
punishment as men see it, their hope was rich with
immortality;
11
Mrs. Pauline Nnedimma Victor-Ogbuozobe
slight was their affliction, great will their blessings
be. God has put them to the test and proved them
worthy to be with him; he has tested them like
gold in a furnace, and accepted them as a
holocaust. When the time comes for his visitation, they
will shine out; as sparks run through the stubble, so will
they. They shall judge nations, rule over peoples, and the
Lord will be their king for ever. They who trust in him
will understand the truth, those who are faithful will
live with him in love; because grace and mercy are upon
his elect, and he watches over his holy ones.
V. This is the Word of the Lord
R. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 23: 1-3a,3b-4,6)
Response: The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I
shall want.
1. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.
Frsh and green are the pastures where he gives me
repose. Near restful waters he leads me, to revive my
dropping spirit.
2. He guides me along the right path. He is true to His
name, if I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil
would I fear. You are there with your crook and your
staff, with these you give me comfort®.
3. You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my
foes. My head you have anointed with oil, my cup is
over flowing.®
2
Mrs. Pauline Nnedimma Victor-Ogbuozobe
4. Surely, goodness and kindness shall follow me,
all the days of my life, in the Lord’s own house shall
I dwell forever and ever (R).
SECOND READNG:
A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the
Corinthians(15:51-57)
Theme: Death is swallowed up in victory
I will tell you something that has been secret:
that we are not all going to die, but we shall all be
changed. This will be instantaneous in the
twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet sounds
, and the dead will be raised, imperishable, and
we shall be changed as well, because our present
perishable nature must put on imperishability and
this mortal nature must put on immortality.
When this perishable nature has put on
imperishability, and when this mortal nature has
put on immortality, then the words of scripture will
come true; death is swallowed up in victory. Death
where is your victory? Death where is your sting?
Now the sting of death is sin. And sin gets its
power from the law. So let us thank God for giving
us the victory through our Lord Jesus.
V. This is the word of God.
R. Thanks be to God.

power from the law. So let us thank God for
giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (of Mt.11:25)
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Blessed are you, father, Lord or heaven and earth, for
revealing the mysteries of the kingdom to mere
children. Alleluia!.
GOSPEL
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to
Mathew (11:25-30)
(Come to me, and I will give rest)
Jesus exclaimed, I bless you, father, Lord of
heaven and earth, for hiding these things from
the learned and clever and revealing them to
mere children. Yes, father, for that is what it
pleased you to do . Everything has been
entrusted to me by my Father; just as no one
knows the Father except the son and those to
whom the son chooses to reveal Him. Come
to me, all of you who labour and are overburdened
and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is
easy and my burden light !
V. This is the gospel of the Lord.
R. praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE BIOGRAPHY OF LADY PAULINE NNEDIMMA VICTOR-OGBUOZOBE
Lady Pauline Nnedimma Victor-Ogbuozobe was born in Jos, Plateau State of Nigeria on the year of
Nigeria’s independence, 1960, to the families of Late Pa Victor Akuwa Ogbuozobe of Umuokwara
kingdom, Imenwe, Umu-Ezeiyi village, and Mrs. Catherine Nkankuru Ogbuozobe (nee Okpala) of
Umuagwata kindred, Lolooma Village, both of Achina, Aguata Local Government Area of
Anambra State, Nigeria. She was the third female daughter and the sixth child of the seventeen
children of late Pa Victor Akuwa Ogbuozobe. She has ten surviving brothers and sisters.
Lady Pauline Nnedimma attended her primary school education at St. Luke’s Primary School, Jos,
after the disruption of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war of 1967-1970. She graduated from primary
school in 1977 and proceeded to Naraguta Grammar School, Zaria Road, Jos. Her father started the
practice of allowing his children to stay with him in Jos for their first year in secondary school,
before subsequently transferring to a school in the South East. Pauline was hitherto sent down to
her native town in 1979 to continue with her high school education. She was enrolled in the Girls
Secondary School, Achina, where she graduated among the pioneer students in 1983 with WAEC
results.
The same year, she was betrothed to Mr. Mike Nnadozie, and was traditionally engaged to him in
marriage. She was later wedded at St. Charles Catholic Church in Achina before moving with her
husband to his place of residence in Lagos. To the glory of God, it was not long that God blessed the
marriage with a bouncing baby boy in May of 1989. The joy of the newborn had not ceased even
when the marriage went through challenges. She then travelled with the newborn to Jos to stay with
her parents. Having passed through hard times with her parents in Jos, she was encouraged to go
back to school where she enrolled in a Government Teachers Training College for a teacher’s
training course. She succeeded, and was subsequently employed to teach in a private
nursery/primary school in Jos.
After the death of her father in 2001, she was forced to leave Jos because of the murderous crisis
that erupted there between 2002 and 2003. After a while, Pauline moved back to Lagos hoping that
a broken truce for reconciliation would work out for the marriage, but to no avail. She stayed with
her brother for a while in Lagos before finally moving to Aba. While in Aba, she enrolled for a
degree program in Education with a virtual school. While enrolled in the program, she was also
working as a teacher in two different schools – Well Brain Secondary School, and High Tower
Primary and Secondary School, both located in Aba.
Pauline was a very hard-working mother that never ceased in seeking the comfort of her beloved
son. She later became an entrepreneur and had a business selling baby’s clothing and other items
before she relocated to the United States. Pauline was a devoted Christian and showed commitment
to the things of God. She was a Sunday School teacher at Greater Glory Assemblies, where she
worshipped last before moving to the States.
Pauline was blessed with her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. She was a lover of
family, the outdoors, traveling, and cooking. The entire family will miss a caring, loving, dedicated
and hard-working sister, mother, and in-law. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord. 8

*TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED BIG SISTER*
I write this tribute with tears in my eyes. Your death is one that took us by surprise, as we
didn't see it coming.
Mama Obinna as fondly called by children was a good woman who cherished the things of
God and was an ardent Christian. She lived a good life and showed love and care to people
around her. I personally adored her approach to life, particularly during perilous moments, She
always persevered and fought consistently to overcome any obstacle in her way. She had an
accommodating heart and showed care and love to my children.
Mama Obi, my children and I will really miss you. Death they say is inevitable, we cannot
question God, we are only left to mourn your death. I have no doubt that you are in heaven
which is a far more better place for you than earth, we sincerely miss you. As we continue to
grieve and mourn your death we take a little solace from the book of Isaiah 35:10 which says
*"Earth has no sorrow which heaven cannot heal"*
We continue to pray that your soul will rest in Peace.
Lastly, paraphrasing the words of Shakespeare to Cassius, I say *"And whether we shall meet
again, I know not. Therefore our everlasting farewell take. Forever and forever farewell,
Mama Obinna. If we do meet again, why we shall smile; If not, why then this parting was well
made."*
Rest well my beloved Sister, you're forever in our hearts.

FARE THEE WELL, PAULINE NNEDIMMA
The news of your death was as shocking as it was devasta n . It did not give us the opportunity to say
goodbye and the pain in our hearts cannot be measured. Afer your sojourn and toiling in Nigeria, we
heaved a sigh of relief when your son Obinna (Josh) relocated you to the U.S. Li e did we know that
death had other plans. However we take solace in the fact that death is a medicine that heals a
multitude of sorrows. As Thomas Moore put it,
Earth hath no Sorrow
that Heaven cannot heal.
We believe that you are in a beter place and Heaven has healed all your pains and sorrows.
Your life was a shining example of hope and determina on,the desire to succeed in the face of
surmoun n challenges. You strove life with such a determined purpose. You succeeded beyond your
limitatons. You raised your son, Obinna (Josh) to be who he is today. We cannot but con nu to be
proud of you.
It is for the foregoing and other reasons that we will sorely miss you. We will miss your disarming smile.
We will miss your good nature and we will miss your humour. Above all, we will miss your personality.
As we have resigned to the Will of God, all we can reasonably do now is to pray for the peaceful repose
of your soul in the Lord and for God to give your son and those you lef behind the needed comfort.
Fare thee well and rest in peace un we meet to part no more. Amen

When death comes calling, it was Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The golden legend (1851) who
said the grave itself is but a covered bridge leading from light through a brief darkness and in the inn
at the Genoa.
Henry, Wadsworth Longfellow said, there is no confessor like unto death thou can't see him, but it is
near. Thou needs not whisper above the breath and he will hear.
Let me para-phrase, James Weldon Johnson "go down death" published in the American Mercury
Magazine (April 1927) " quote, and God said, "go down death, go down to and find Pauline, Victor
my good daughter". Nnedimma, Pauline Victor Ogbuozobe has borne the Burden and the heat of the
day, she had laboured long in my vineyard
, helping so many people anytime they come across her, she must listen to them and attend to them
without delay. She is now weary, go down death bring her then to me. "On quote.
Sister Pauline, it's hard to believe that the Angels of the Lord have picked you home the time we
mostly need you. You left us on 14th day of September,2022 without any sign. Chayiiii ! E be e wuuu

Pauline, you leaved what is called rule of life , that is the life other people may benefit from . Your
death turned my house into darkness but I understand that all mortal must change to immortality to
gain eternal life above. You fought a good fight and won the race.My happiness is that you left
impeccable legacy here on earth. Thank God for using you to bless Nnaedozie family and Achina

Pauline my cousin and sister, I can’t believe I am writing this for your repose when we just reconnected
a few months ago. I saw you in the zoom meeting and lovingly scolded you . Perhaps those in
that meeting never knew what we have in common. Immediately at the end of that meeting you were
calling me as I was calling you . We talked and talked and save some more talk for next time.
We eventually got to see at the wedding. Though you did not recognize me but…
The captivating experience when you realize who was standing next to you got us jumping for joy albeit
that we were in the procession for offertory during the solemnization of a holy matrimony that we both
attended.
During the photoshoots, I can still remember as You told my children to greet you ‘Nde Nne’ as their
maternal aunty. I echoed your statement as well and we introduce our relationship to them. We told
them that we are cousins and sisters and friends.
I remember our days as students at Naraguta Grammar School in Jos. I also remember the many times
when my immediate older siblings and I visit you and your siblings at your home in Dilimi street in Jos.
You were gentle and soft spoken. Even when you were mad or angry, there was still that smiley face that
emanated from your anger. The few minutes we spent brought back these precious and sweet memories.
It is hard to believe. It happened so fast. Weeks????
I still remember your visit with Josh to my house in Lagos. He was a toddler at the time; so handsome
robust and very fair just like you.
Married life has a way of taking us through different turns in life.
I never saw you again till this time -- reconnecting with you after about thirty-four years. I was sooo
happy to call and keep catching up and now this… this sting of death! Can’t call no more.
Nne Rest In Peace and suffer no more for God had a way with His creation. We love you but He loves
you the most.
osh nwam nwoke, you have come a long way, God is all in all for you. Cherish the memories you have
shared with your sweet mama
Ekene my wife I bet you can never ask for a better mother-in-law.
Oby my co-wife seeing you and my sister just seemed to me like I have been with you all for a long time.
You were in-laws turned sisters and friends as the case maybe.

FAREWELL TO MY QUINTESSENTIAL MOTHER
*******
I am still in shock after the day that I received a text from my brother that you have gone to be
with the Lord, it was so unreal. Just two days before this tormenting sad news, I was on phone
with my brother, discussing strategies for the better days ahead. I had wanted to speak with
Mum, but she was not close to us at that time, never in our thinking frame that two days later,
you will be no more. I had to constantly pinch my skin to wake up from this nightmare, and
has become like a sharp razor cut through my heart. As I try, it becomes clear to me that I can't
escape this reality.
As I write this tribute, I remembered how you fondly call me ‘The Thinking Thinking”, you
were full of grace, indeed, heaven gains a beautiful soul, so kind hearted, a phenomenal, pillar
of strength, beacon of hope, so jovial and great woman, who spreads her love, warmth, time,
resources and wisdom to all and sundry without reservation “Nwanyi na amaghi ka esi
emegbu mmadu ibe ya”- Always putting people first before herself. You went through a lot in
life, ill-treatments even from relatives but for one day never held any grudges or curse on
anyone. You took care of everyone around you even with your limited resources and always
pressed on my brother to reach out to them even at the expense of your comfort and happiness,
and treated all with respect and dignity.
Since your death, I have been thinking and asking, “Why do good people die early?”…the
responses I got has become a solace for me that God sometimes orchestrate that to preserve
His own from deviating and also more time for the wicked to repent. I will not question God,
but would have loved God to keep mummy for more years to enjoy the fruit of her labour.
I know that you are in better place and we shall see on that glorious morning to part no more
and feel blessed knowing you as my mother. I wish that I had more time to spend with you, all
the plans with my brother for the family. Your demise has created a void which NO ONE can
replace, it is not really easy to say farewell.
We take solace in God that you are sleeping in His bosom, a place far better than what we can
fathom or wish you, and our souls find the peace that though physically you are gone, your
spirit and memories will always be with us forever, mummy. Hoping that one day we will all
meet to part no more.
Thanks for being a prayerful, amazing and caring mother, we love you forever and will
greatly miss you. Rest in peace mummy

Tribute from Chioma Onianwa
The day that each individual is born, we are set free to live a life of purpose marked by
the extraordinary love and abundance of God. However as this sojourn ends, we are
suddenly faced with confronting the reality of leaving loved ones behind and beginning
a new chapter where we return back to the God who gave us life.
Simularly, during painful periods of loss, we are given new opportunities to reflect over
what will be said about us when we die. Having spent time with you aunty Pauline, I am
encouraged to work towards being my best self. I thank God for the short time that I
spent with aunty Pauline, but most importantly I am moved by the legacy of love that
she leaves behind. Amidst my grief and disbelief, I have been comforted by the
indelible impression that Aunty Pauline made on me.
Though I am saddened by this great loss, I will never forget the many times that we
spent together. Particularly, I will never forget the many intimate conversations that we
had when I would braid her hair - we always had a blast. Additionally, memories of her
warm, sincere, and loving nature; her patience; her ability to show kindness and grace
with ease; her diligence as a mother; all of the laughter that we shared; and how quickly
she embraced me - relating to me as though I was already a member of her family are
things that I will always cherish.
I will miss aunty Pauline dearly and I am certain that she is resting in perfect peace. I
pray that she watches over us, helping to direct our paths and that the peace of God
which transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds as we witness her
transition to the life beyond.

Pauline Chimuanya, Grandma Pennsylvania, I still can't believe that our plans to escape

left us so early, so confused, still wondering. Death snatched you from our two little boys.
Death is a monster. No one knows when it will come. Your soft voices echoes with
humility and patience. I am alI smile whenever I remember our bond. I give God glory

May the gates of heaven open for and may you rest in perfect peace. Amen.

The special memories of you will always bring a,smile to our faces. It is said that those who

While you were with us, you always had a smile to share and was very special to us. When
you last visited our house on August 26th, 2022, we all sat around and ate delicious "oha

that death will snatch you away shortly after that. Our faith tells us that those we love don't
go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still
missed and always dear. We will all meet one day to part no more.

Words are not enough to describe the shock we received following the sad news of your sudden
and un mely death. Our eyes are s ll welled up in tears and our hearts heavy.
Alas we had to surrender to the will of the Almighty God. He is the one who brings and it's He
who takes away. We can not ques on His authority.
We can only relish the fond memories we had together un l we meet again to part no more.
Ipuruiche as our father will fondly call you. You were truly Excep onal in that you radiated light
and great love to those who are around you, including your detractors.
Nnedimma, you truly lived your name. You literally nursed and nurtured all those that come your
way as a good mother would do.
Who would lovingly call me Charlie again, with all the smiles that one could muster?
We will miss you greatly but will only take solace in the fact that ,during your short stay here on
earth, you imparted many lives posi vely.
Con nue to rest in peace my dear sister.

GONE TOO SOON.
I was so saddened when I heard that ugly News. What a devastating loss.
It broke my heart with a big shock when the news reached me. It was heart
wrenching to hear that Pauline was gone. I know we shall miss her a lot
because it will be hard to not always remember such a godly person.
Evidently, we cannot ask God why but Nne you were an Angel and will be
missed.
It was nice you lived to enjoy your grandchildren and obviously they must
be missing you already. What can you do than keep appreciating then from
afar and do not worry; they will grow successfully with the golden touch you
laid on them. Obviously, you were a big blessing to your loved ones and
your legacy will always resonate in their memories. Although it was short,
your life impacted us in so many ways that the closer any one got to you
the more you were loved. Your open door policy with love and kindness will
forever define you.
Adankili, take heart and be strong as you are now the mother to your
daughter and son-in-law. They will always rely on you for guidance and
directives.Surely, it is going to be alright because I know what you can do
with the blessings our good Lord keeps showering on you which you keep
spreading unimaginably with love to everyone that comes around you.
Just take heart, my friend.
Joshua Obinna, I am urging you and your family, as well as other relatives to stop crying since
no amount of crying will bring her back. I am assured that Lady Pauline is in good
hand(Heaven). She lived a good life, faithful to her Creed. Just like Williams Shakespars , ”
The world is stage”.
Lady Pauline has played her own part. Indeed, Joshua Obinna, the death of parent is very
painful and no one is really prepares for it, no matter at what age it happens, but we should take
solace in the fact that your mother had run a good race and finished, and had been crowned with
Glory.
Yes, we all are mourning with you and we all going to miss her. Also, we all know that death is
an inevitable fate that awaits for everyone. At some point, each and ev everyone of us here will
leave the world, and September 14th, 2022 was Lady Pauline’s turn. None of us here on Earth
knows whose turn it will be next; and the question to all of us remains: Are you Ready To
Answer That Call ?
. Again, please take heart, Adankiri for God knows better and as I said before, Pauline is in a
better place now with our Almighty Father. My heartfelt condolence to the families.
Farewell Pauline until we meet to part no more.

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way;
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain:
It is well, with my soul
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should
come;
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul !
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live;
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
