make house calls to those who required medical

p Medications were made from tried & true pharmacy recipe books.
amMany of the recipes used illicite drugs such as opium. They also used
S various herbs & natural ingredients to soothe aliments such as malaria or
fevers.
.comEarly medical practices were based on folk remedies, historic tradi-
m ution & the rare medical book. Since ingredients were often hard to obtain
o oeither because of expense or lack of availability, people frequently resorted
r Yto self-diagnosis & trial and error. Raw ingredients were sold to patients
