1. Flash flood

fast - moving waters that sweep everything

2. Coastal flood

caused by strong wind or storms that
move towards a coast during high tide

*Coastal : the land next to/close to sea
*High tide: the highest point of something

3. River flood

gradual riverbank overflows caused by
extensive rainfall over an extended period
of time

*gradual: slope
*extensive: large amount

4. Urban flood

occur when drainage system in a city or
country fail to absorb water from heavy
rainfall

5. Pluvial flood
form in flat areas where the terrain can’t
absorb the rainwater , causing puddles &
ponds to appear

Causes of
