Alvada Construction is seriously committed to providing a safe and healthy work
environment for all its workers, subcontractors, and insuring that while communities are
affected by our construction activities it remains a safe and healthy place to live.
In order to achieve this commitment ACI has set the goal for each project to have “zero
incidents”, this is accomplished by active participation from both management and field
personnel in the development and continuous improvement of the ACI safety program.
This program not only reflects a conscientious effort to comply with all federal, state,
and local regulations, but go above and beyond some regulations. ACI has a robust
training program that is used to raise awareness of the importance of safety and gives the
workers the ability to understand that hazards exist in the workplace and gives them the
knowledge to be able to recognize and eliminate or control those potential hazards.
Safety training of employees is a key component in any safety program, what makes the
ACI program special is it goes beyond the classroom setting. All field personnel are
required to attend and complete the OSHA 10 Hr. construction hazard awareness training
and all personnel with safety responsibilities are required to take the OHSA 30Hr. hazard
awareness course.

At all our jobsites we require weekly toolbox talks and pre-job meeting where safety is
top priority. Safety is the first topic of discussion at weekly project manager meetings.
Also safety audits and hazard analysis completed by the superintendents and safety
director of job sites reinforce safety as 1st priority.
Providing employees with proper well maintained personal protective equipment is a
important aspect of the ACI safety program, this give ACI the ability to put in place a 100%
hardhat and safety glasses policy for all jobsites. Supplying its workforce with quality
tools and equipment, that is backed by a well equipped tool shop; enables ACI to insist on
the highest of standards of performance and safe practices.
Doing a job quickly in an unsafe manner is not acceptable to ACI. Chances are the unsafe
act will injure you or a fellow worker which will cause only more downtime on the job
compared to the time it would take to do the task the safe way. ACI not only believes that
working safely is top priority to keep the workforce healthy, but is good business sense
and is paramount in corporate planning.
