2 Oasis School Mathematics Book-1
Oasis School Mathematics is an activity -oriented and interactive book intended for
the students of Basic level. It has been designed in compliance with the Integrated
Curriculum (2075 B.S.) of the Curriculum Development Center (CDC), the Government
of Nepal, with the focus on child psychology of requiring mathematical knowledge
and skills.
An integrated curriculum is described as one that connects different areas of study by
cutting across the subject matter lines and emphasizing unifying concept. It focuses
on making connections for students, allowing them to engage in relevant, meaningful
activities that can be connected to the real life. Mathematical knowledge and skills are
directly connected with our real life activities.
The major thrust is on creating an enjoyable experience in learning Mathematics
through the inclusion of variety of problems which are closely related to our practical
life. This book is expected to foster the positive attitude among children and encourages
them to enjoy mathematics. A genuine attempt has been made to present mathematical
concepts with ample illustrations, assignments, activities, exercises and project works
to students so as to encourage them to participate actively in the learning process.
I have tried to connect the subject matter with different themes by means of different
mathematical activities, project works, and worksheets. I make sure that this book
makes learning meaningful by allowing students to engage in meaningful and relevant
activities that can be connected to the real life.
This book has been prepared incorporating the subject matter with different themes
prescribed by the Integrated Curriculum of CDC 2075. So, I strongly believe that this
book is really helpful to implement this Integrated Curriculum.
I am highly grateful to principals, administrators, experts and mathematics teachers
who have provided me with opportunities to anticipate in workshops, teachers training
programmes and interaction programmes as a resource person. Their invaluable
feedback has helped me revise and update this series. I am very much proud of my
students who are-the source of encouragement for me to go ahead with this project. I
am also highly grateful to Mr. Sedunath Dhakal for editing the language of the series.
My grateful thanks go to Managing Director for his invaluable support and cooperation
in getting this series published in this shape.
At the end, constructive and practical suggestions of all kinds for further improvement
of the book will be appreciated and incorporated in course of revision.
