Newlands Girls’ School

Vision
& Values

We hope that you enjoy looking
through this prospectus, which has
been designed to give you a flavour
of life at our happy and successful
school.

Our vision is to build an
ambitious and caring community of
people who eagerly contribute to
every aspect of school life, whilst
instilling the ethos that there are no
limits to what can be achieved.

This is underpinned by our values:

The 3Cs
• Courage
• Commitment
• Compassion

which feeds into our core purpose:
We aim to provide a dynamic,
rigorous, single sex education fit for
the young people in our school. We
will offer a rich curriculum which
develops character and thrives on
aspiration, respect and positive
relationships. Our core purpose is to
equip our students for life beyond
school, preparing them with
confidence and enthusiasm for the
next steps in their journey.

Pastoral care

Students say they feel safe
and very well looked after at
Newlands. Our Pastoral teams
work together to provide
guidance for everyone. Tutors,
Heads of Year, the Student Focus
Centre and Wellbeing Hub form
a network of support so that
there is always someone to turn
to for any worries or concerns.

Extra-curricular
activities

Our aim is to ensure that whatever
a student’s interests, there are
plenty of clubs, societies, choirs,
instrumental groups, squads
or teams that they can join.
Many students learn a musical
instrument and have singing
lessons, which can be given
individually or in small groups.
Students also have the opportunity
to take part in the DofE Award.
