KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 150 2.1.16. Leading edge does not looks nice (hitting mark like peeling) (1) Symptom The hitting mark like peeling occurs at the leading edge of thick paper. ・Leading edge is peeled to downward when the paper reaches to the registration part. ・Especially, it occurs when the leading edge is soft. (2) Cause When the registration rollers reverse to adjust the paper skew, it may damage the leading edge when the thick paper is used. (The symptom may occur in the area up to 110mm to machine front and rear from the machine center.) (3) Solution Set minus value to the [Feed Correction Level] of Expert Adjustment. 1. Change the DIPSW 1-0 from 0 to 1 to show the Expert adjustment in the paper setting. [Service Mode] → [System Setting] →[Software DIPSW Setting] → DIPSW01-0:1 2. [Machine]→[Paper setting]→[Expert Adj.]→[Feed correction Level] Change from 0 (Default) to -1or -2. Note Check the registration correction level after setting minus value to the Feed Correction Level. Because the registration correction level may also decrease. Table of contents When the registration roller reverses to form the loop, the paper is rubbed with the drive roller and the leading edge is damaged. Registration R. Loop R. KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 151 2.1.17. SRA4S Corner folding at the paper trailing edge, machine rear side (1) Symptom When both side printing on SRA4S size paper, corner folding at machine rear may occur. (2) Cause The corner folding may occur because the positions of paper trailing edge of SRA4S and the steel plate of the decurler roller fit exactly. (3) Solution The Output Curl(Back on Top) change from Auto. 1. Change DipSW1-0 to 1 to display Expert Adj. to Paper Setting. [Service mode]→ [System Setting]→[Software DipSW Setting] 2. [Machine]→[Paper Setting]→[Expert Adj.]→[Output Curl (Back on Top} Change from [Auto] to [0]. If it does not fix, Change [+1] then [+2] while checking improvement on the actual print. Note Reset to [Auto] after use because the Output Curl(Back on Top) is set for each paper type. Table of contents As shown in the figure, the edge of the steel plate holding the roller corresponds with the edge of the SRA4S => Other size is not affected. KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 152 2.1.18. Pickup jam clearance workflow Introduction Paper status in the tray largely affects paper feed ability such as JAM and skew. From the experience, incorrect paper setting in the tray is one of the major factors causing JAM. Please thoroughly instruct user to set the paper in the tray with the correct procedure. This will reduce jam occurrence. 1. How to set paper correctly to the tray 1.1 How to set paper (basic procedure) i) Set a few sheets of paper to the tray and adjust the side guides with both hands. Note: Adjusting in one-handed, only one side guide moves and another side do not move well. This may result in off-center in the tray. ii) Slide the knob at the side of the tray then close the tray. iii) Open the tray after the lift up plate reaches to the topmost position. When moving side guide, use the both hands as shown in the photo. Sliding the knob (see photo left) at the side of the tray can make adjustment without downing the lift up plate. (After sliding the knob, it is necessary to open and close the tray). This enables to make more precise adjustment of the gap between paper and side guides. After adjustment, return the knob to the original position.

KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 153 iv) Adjust the gaps between the paper and the side guides referring to the following steps 1 through 4. Note: • Especially, to keep slight gap mentioned in 2 is important. Otherwise, JAM (non suction, multi-feed, buckling) occurs. Manual adjustments of side guides 1. Side guide scale: Set the side guides so that the front and rear indicates the same value. * Read the value at the edge of the steel plate. 2. Gap between papers and guides: Keep 0.1 to 0.2mm at each side 3. Fix side guide: Rotate the knob to fix. 4. Check the paper can move smoothly: Slide the paper by hand and confirm that it moves smoothly. If it is caught, JAM may occur (see the figure in below) Reference 3. Rotate the knob to fix. Front Rear 1. Set the side guides. Be sure that the steel plate indicates the same at front and rear scales

KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 154 v) After step iv), return the knob to the original position then set a pile of paper. 2 Gap between paper and guides: 0.1 to 0.2mm. Note: Example of NG state If the gap is not enough, paper is caught by side guides 4 Slide the paper to arrowed direction and confirm smooth movement. Do not touch the side guides since they were already adjusted. Only move the trail edge guide to load paper.

KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 155 2. Matrix to decide jam clearance When a jam occurs, take actions in order of following steps. i) Check the jam code ii) Check the paper status in the tray and whether the paper is set properly referring to “1. KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 174 2.1.19. Jam, Paper damage, Image failure due to conveyance speed difference (1) Symptom Jam, Paper damage (wrinkle/buckling/corner fold/bent/scratch/folding line), image failure (line, jitter, cloudy) occurs on the specific paper. (2) Cause Paper conveyance speed are slightly different depending on paper characteristic/paper weight /environment. The differences affect its paper conveyance condition as following. - Timing of paper reaching and passing through each roller and gate. - Paper behavior/shape. - Loop size - Distance between papers Typical situation of the problem (3) Solution Estimate the cause location based on paper size, jam position, occurrence condition, occurrence status. Then, adjust the speed and timing for estimated part. * Find the optimum setting by changing value step by step in upper or lower direction because the purpose of adjustment is to optimize paper conveyance speed and loop amount. <Lager conveyance speed than other rollers > Upstream: Much loop, Downstream: Little loop <Faster conveyance speed than other rollers> Upstream: Little loop, Downstream: Much loop <Jam (Paper delayed)> Failed to detect paper due to delayed conveyance. Delay Delay Fast Delay Fast Delay Fast <Jam (Paper reached previous one)> Later paper catch up previous paper due to the faster conveyance. <Buckling (Z-folding)> When the loosen paper loop passes the rollers, it is pressed and get folded.. <Scratches (FD)> If the paper loop became bigger, paper surface might hit unexpected location. Then, it would be scratched.

J-17xx/3101/3102/3120 caused by paper dust or some foreign materials attached to the feed roller (1) Symptom -J-17** (Paper does not reach to registration sensor or internal feed sensor) -J-3101/J-3102/J-3120 This symptom may occur on printing the thick paper (more than 200gsm) and on printing/after printing the paper with much paper dust. (Especially pay attention for embossed paper and rough paper.) (2) Cause Paper dust accumulates on the paper feed roller and feeding power is reduced. Especially this symptom may occur while printing thick paper if the previous paper is special paper containing much paper dust. (3) Solution Clean each paper feed roller on paper feed unit and on the main body. . If you find a roller with paper dust, check all paper feed rollers in the conveyance path. Table of contents Clean the roller if it is coated with paper dust.

KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 182 2.1.21. Corner folding at the paper leading edge on wide paper (1) Symptom When printing on wide paper, corner folding in downward may occur at the paper leading edge. - It tends to occur on wider size SRA3(width 320mm) or more. - It tends to occur on thin paper less than 128gsm. - It tends to occur if the paper got moistened. (2) Cause Leading edge of paper are caught by fuser exit guide at the front or rear where is the area without separation claw due to the separation air. Paper path The wider the paper width than separation claw, the more the edges front and rear sink. And it tends to sink when the paper stiffness is lower. Separati on claw Guide Plate The wider the paper width is, the easier the paper edges get hitt at guide plate. 330(Max. size)

KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 183 (3) Solution (a) Adjust the fusing separation air level setting. 1. Change the DIPSW 1-0 from 0 to 1 to show the expert adjustment in the paper setting. [Service Mode] → [System Setting] →[Software DIPSW Setting] → DIPSW1-0:1 2. Reduce the air level by [Fusing Separation Air Level Setting] [Machine] → [Paper Setting] → [Change Set] → [Expert Adj.] Recommendation level : 4 NOTE: If the level reduced, paper wrapping jam tends to occur due to weaker separation force. (b) Adjust the fusing temperature setting. 1. Change the DIPSW 1-0 from 0 to 1 to show the expert adjustment in the paper setting. [Service Mode] → [System Setting] → [Software DIPSW Setting] → DIPSW1-0:1 2. Reduce the fusing temperature by [Upper Fusing Roller Temperature]. [Machine] → [Paper Setting] → [Change Set] → [Expert Adj.] Reduce the temperature gradually until -10 degrees. (Maximum -20 degrees) To confirm the fixing ability, print 20 sheets of No.69 chart. Check that no poor fusing occurs. NOTE: Toner peel off may occur if the temperature reduces too much. The setting should be adjusted with confirming image quality. Table of contents

KONICA MINOLTA Confidential 184 2.1.22. Wrinkle on thin paper at trailing edge to feed direction (on 180 to 230mm width paper) (1) Symptom Wrinkle in feed direction may appear at the trailing edge of thin paper when the feed tray is PFU. (Thin paper: Coated paper up to 128g/gsm, Uncoated paper: up to 91g/m2) ・The symptom tends to occur when the paper width (in CD direction) is approx. 180mm to 230mm. ・The symptom more often occurs when the bottom tray feeds paper. (2) Cause When the corrugation is formed at the paper feed and if it is kept until the entrance of the PFU registration section, the PFU pre-registration loop may not be formed properly as it is not formed along the conveyance guide. If too much loop is formed, the wrinkle occurs at the registration roller section. (3) Solution 1. Change feed tray When the symptom occurs at the bottom tray, use the upper or middle tray. 2. Reduce the pre-registration loop amount till the wrinkle is reduced. When 2 or 3 feed units are connected, also reduce the pre-registration loop amount at respective connecting part as needed. For example, For Tray 1: Adjust Tray 1. For Tray 6 (2n PFU): Adjust Tray 6 and connecting section of the 1st PFU. Optional HT-503(PF602m)/HT-506(PF707) is equipped. (2) Cause When dehumidifier heater is installed to the tray to enhance coated paper feeding ability under high humidity environment (humidity is 56% or over), printing is not accepted until the sensor in the tray detects certain temperature with the default setting. For example, even dehumidifying completes once then the tray is pulled out, “dehumidifying” is displayed. (3) Solution Change the setting of DipSW18-4 Print during temperature control by dehumidifier heater from 0: Prohibited → Allowed The machine receive print job even during the warming up of dehumidifier heater. Note • Since dehumidifying operation does not complete, no feed jam of the coated paper under high humidity tends to occur. • Even under high humidity environment, no feed occurs mostly on coated paper. Therefore, dehumidifying is performed only for coated paper. Table of contents

(2) Cause During long-run low coverage print, Toner charge is deteriorated due to lubricant attached to toner. Developer level became deteriorated due to Toner charge deterioration and Toner density sensor judges low after that Toner supplied. It rotates above, Toner density becomes high. After that, Toner high density occurs as Toner density sensor judges high, attached lubricant toner is consumed, Toner charge and Developer level becomes normal. (3) Solution 1.Replace Developer which occurred C-code. 2.Execute toner band creation function(YMCK 5%). By using toner band creation function, the toner is regularly ejected from the developing unit, and fresh toner is supplied. When the less than YMCK 5% coverage is printed continuously, toner band is created on the intermediate transfer belt to keep minimum coverage becomes YMCK 5%. Toner band creation Dip SW Set Default YMCK : 5% 104-0 1 0 104-1 1 0 Side effect: Toner band creation setting reduces the productivity (Reduce by max 10% for A4 conversion) and increases toner consumption at low coverage printing. When the intermediate transfer CL blade count reaches more than half, the cleaning failure may occur. Note To prevent 2nd transfer roller getting toner dirt from toner band, change the DIPSW for 2nd transfer unit pressure release setting. DIPSW103-7 : 1 (Default: 0) Table of contents
