LEO SHEHAN DE MEL

ASSISTANT TREASURER

Leo Shehan Claude De Mel, an enthusiastic young leader joins the Executive Committee
as an Club Assistant Treasurer for the Leoistic year 2022/23

His school career started at Holy Cross College Kalutara. Since his childhood, his talent
for fine arts, sports, and scouting had made him an extraordinary student in the school.
He was the Leader of the College English Choir, Assistant Leader of the Senior Western
Brass Band. Further, he won the Championship at District Level-Junior Sinhala Poetic
organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs. Achieving the Best results of the Com-
merce Scheme in the school in the 2018 G.C.E A/L Examination, he entered the Faculty
of Management and Finance in the University of Colombo and is currently studying as
a 3rd-year undergraduate.

In Leoistic year 2020/21, his additional talent for community service was exposed by
his joining the Leo club as a member. From thereon, he participated in many projects
and even held responsible positions such as Project Chairperson of ‘Alert 5.0, Annual
Installation 2022’, and as a committee member of projects ‘Thuru Saviya, Kruthagu-
na 4.0, Elation 2022’, etc. He also held the position of Assistant Director of Fundrais-
ing and Management for the Leoistic year 2021/22. Proving the standard of his work,
he received many awards starting from ‘Regime member of the month of November
2021/22 in Leo Club of University of Colombo’ to the ‘Most Outstanding Project for Pae-
diatric Cancer’ at the Leo District Conference 306 C1 2021/22 and in Leo Multiple Dis-
trict Conference 306 2021/22. Sharing his thoughts, this young leader stated, “Motive
of improving leadership qualities, network building, and engaging in social activities.
Because I believe Leoism is an incomparable platform to build up our personal qualities
as well as to serve social entities in every aspect for the betterment of our community.”

Having talented and dedicated Leo Shehan De Mel would ensure that Leo Club of Uni-
versity of Colombo continue its legacy for a long time.

ASSISTANT TREASURER

Joining the Executive Committee as the Club Assistant Treasurer for the Leoistic year
2022/23, Leo Janith Kodithuwakku ensures a glamorous Leoistic year with his talented
and humble personality.

Starting his education in Harischandra National School, Negombo, he excelled in both
education and extracurricular activities and entered the Faculty of Management and
Finance in the University of Colombo with flying colours and currently studies as a 3rd-
year undergraduate.

Commencing his Leo journey in 2020/21, his passion for community service, lead-
ership, and experience combined in participating in many club projects and holding
project positions such as Project Chairperson of ‘Diabcure 4.0’, Project Treasurer of
‘Diabcure 3.0, Sindunalaraksha 4.0 and Be Their Vision 6.0.’ Furthering his Leoism, he
was awarded the ‘Regime member of the month of December 2021, 2nd Runners-up
in ‘Sindunalaraksha 4.0’, the Winning project for ‘DiabCure 3.0’ in 2020/21, Winning
project for ‘DiabCure 4.0’ and ‘Be Their Vision 6.0’ in 2021/22 at Leo District Confer-
ence 306 C1 2021/22 and winning ‘Most Outstanding Project for Diabetes’ for ‘DiabCure
4.0’ at Leo Multiple District Conference 306 2021/22. These appreciations benefited not
only him but also many people in need highlighting the contribution from UOC Leos to
society, despite challenging times.

“Motive of improving my skills and capabilities while enjoying volunteering for good
causes where someone needs”, Leo Janith Kodithuwakku, shares his ideas by giving a
glimpse to all who strive to take part in this wonderful Leo movement.
