Chai Meet the team

Lam Model, Founder &
Editor in Chief of RISE Magazine

A Motion Graphics major with a post-graduate Diploma in Business Entrepreneur-
ship, Chai Lam thrives in innovative environments and never fails to apply her
creative touch when necessary. Starting her design career at an early age, she studied
Art and Design, Product Design and Media Studies at A level and received numerous
Branding, Faculty, Vaulter and Scholarship Awards during her nal year of college.

Modelling from an early age, Chai soon developed into a professional, expanding her portfolio and working
alongside reputable photographers, designers and make-up artists on an international platform; with over 6 years
of experience, she has been featured in various publications worldwide. As Founder and Editor in Chief of RISE
magazine, Chai released her rst issue in December 2015. Chai is delighted to have attracted a team of passionate artists to
collaborate with, all of whom bring a unique blend of talent and passion to create incredible images and contents for the readers.

In her spare time, Chai works as a Graphics Designer
for clients in the sportswear and beauty industry
and runs a number of other successful
ventures, including her online bespoke jewellery
manufacturing company, Dollicon, which ships
beautiful designed and crafted Lolita inspired
items all over Europe, Australia and Asia.

Fine Art Photographer Kerri Jean is a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran,
whose award-winning photography has appeared in over 30 di erent
print-on-demand and several limited-print publications. Known for her
eclectic style and penchant for combining di erent artistic elements in her
work, Kerri has been acknowledged by being named a RAW: Natural Born
Artist photographer of the year nominee in 2013, placing two years
in a row at Shutterfest in Fashion & Beauty category, and catching
the attention of other respected artists. Kerri Jean practices her
photography regularly out of a private studio in the Irvington
district of Indianapolis, Indiana, where she works with a dedicated and
creative team of models, hairstylists, makeup artists, and wardrobe stylists.

She and her team frequently build their own props and costumes
for shoots. Kerri is dedicated to the idea of “giving back”
to the people around her, and often donates her time to
charitable causes and people in need, particularly veterans. In
addition to her photography work, she is a graduate of the
USAF NCO Academy, USAF Airman Leadership School,
and lived abroad while in the military for several years.
She also gained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management
from Millikin University.

Julie Meet the team
Powers Makeup Artist
& Writer

Julie Powers is a long time professional in the entertainment industry;
a trained musical theatre performer as well as an experienced makeup
artist and costumer. Julie has a BA in Musical eatre from Butler
University and an MFA in Acting from Minnesota State University
Mankato. She is dangerously overeducated, accomplished and
well-rounded, having more than 20 years in the business and at this point
having doneeverything from clean toilets to direct and produce. is
gives her a unique understanding of the teamwork, dedication
and long hours required to bring a project to fruition.

Never satis ed, Julie takes classes and workshops as often as
possible, from the best artists in the industry, and stays current with
professional publications. Although her focus is on makeup artistry
these days, she still performs with the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra and
sings solo gigs on occasion. Julie's work-both her artistry and her
writing-has been featured in international publications and media.

Meet the team Pam

Fields Photographer

Memphis based photographer Pam Fields grew up in
Mississippi and received her formal education from
a small, private liberal arts university where she
obtained a Bachelor’s degree in psychology.
She went on to work many years with at-risk youth and
eventually made the decision to stay at home to raise and
homeschool her two children, both of whom are
now teens. Growing up, Pam had a point-and-shoot
camera and enjoyed taking pictures of everyday life.
For many years, she was told that she had an eye for photography.
However it wasn’t until 2014 that she picked up her first
DSLR and go busy learning.Pam has always had a creative
spirit and applies that same creativity to her photography work. She
has been published in several national and international
magazines and is also a featured photographer on Vogue Italia's web-
site. When she is not planning a shoot or shooting,
you may find Pam hitting the road with her daughter to
attend, and sometimes photograph, concerts or spending
time with her family doing activities around Memphis.

Kaylen Shelby is a young creative currently based out of Memphis,
Tennessee. At 14, she began modeling with professional photographers,
and has since expanded her portfolio with various publications,
both national and international. She has been a featured model
in the Vogue Italia online database. Alongside her modeling work,
she assists in crafting shoots, with tasks including building
headpieces, styling wardrobe, designing di erent sets, and directing.

I am a published portrait and fashion
photographer and despite only doing it
for just over a year. I am proud of what I
have accomplishedin such a short space of
time, I am passionate about the images I
create, and pride myself in creating a fun
chilled out environment that we can all
relax and work in. I work from my home
studio on the Isle of wight and also make the
most of the beautiful scenery around here. I
love all aspects of photography, but my real
passion is working with models, doing fashion
and creating interesting and high quality images.



TERRY
MENDOZA

I’ve been photographing for over 25 years, both movies and stills.
My specialties include retro and latex fashion for catalogue lookbooks
and e-commerce, but I’m probably best best known for my retro style of
photography/retouching from the Hollywood glamour of the forties to recreations
of airbrush American pinup art. However I feel my style is continually evolving,
and has de nitely acquired a more contemporary edge over the last few years.
My photography is a continual process of exploration of ideas, re ning
concepts and styles over time.
Every client is di erent, but I particularly love working
with the Spin Doctor* team. Aside from their stunning
alternative fashions, they have great creative input during
the photoshoot. I style and shoot their images over
intense short sessions, and I think this brevity gives the
images an immediacy and resonance.
Like many photographers, I feel it is important to realize
the image as fully as possible at the shooting stage.
However I am certainly no purist, as I feel that
post-production can de nitely lift an image creatively
to another level, and I love Photoshop! For example,
the sepia toned Spin Doctor images were all
photographed in the studio against a white backdrop.
I styled the foreground props at the shoot, but the
backgrounds were composited using images from
my extensive image archive (I photograph
backgrounds and textures wherever I go!), or
created from scratch.
My studio is just outside London, UK, but I
frequently shoot on location, both in the UK
and abroad. I’m delighted that my relaxed style
of shooting and directing has attracted so
many diverse fashion companies, and look
forward to working with many more!

Me and Beth had discussed
a collaboration. Beth does a lot
of fashion modelling and I do
mainly conceptual and ne art
photography. After talking with
Beth I found out that beth
has a dance background, so I
really wanted to go with that
and create something around
quite an elaborate pose, We had
decided on some woodland
and I decided on some props.
Once there we worked on
some creative portraiture and
then I described this one
picture, Beth was very excited to
try something new and be
able to use some elaborate
moves to get the shot , It didn't
take many shots before we
nailed the look we were going
for. Beth was perfect for this
picture and I really enjoyed
getting creative with her

ere are some things that transcend time and space: Inspiration, creativity,
beauty. But who put these desires in our hearts? And where do the insights of
our imagination come from? In a world full of noise and turmoil it's surprising
we even hear our own constructive thoughts at times. And for me, as a self-portrait
photographer sometimes pressures are intensi ed as I'm responsible for all the
elements required in creating an image. It's possible to strive too hard to be creative,
when in actuality we should just "be still".

is photographic exploration was borne out of a moment of meditation on Psalm 46:10
"Be still and know that I am God". Knowing that all our worries are but trivial in light of
a higher perspective allows us the freedom of serenity to actualize our imaginations.
So in this series I present the symbolic pearls of wisdom that lead to ‘ e Realm of Inspiration’.

Annishka O

Annishka is an Australian internationally published self-portrait photographer
recognized for her fantasy concepts that center on beauty and intrigue. Driven
by her imagination, Annishka wears many artistic hats as a photographer, model,
makeup artist and digital retoucher to bring her visions to life. And with a PhD in
cognitive psychology, there are always elements of Annishka’s work that are
symbolic and aimed at inspiring re ection.
