INTRODUCTION

Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum
Sultan Iskandar is the 25th Sultan

of Johor and the 5th Sultan of
modern Johor. He is the son of
Sultan Iskandar. A motorcycle
enthusiast, Sultan Ibrahim is well-
known as the founder of the annual
motorcycling tour event, Kembara

Mahkota Johor.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim
was educated and brought up to

be an intelligent,
knowledgeable, authoritative

and sovereign King.

EDUCATION

The late Sultan Iskandar sent him to study at Trinity Grammar School in Sydney,
Australia from 1968 until 1970. After finishing his studies, he was sent to Pusat
Latihan Tentera Darat (PULADA) in Kota Tinggi for basic military training. He
also received military training in the US–at Fort Benning, Georgia and later at
Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Tuanku is also commissioned as a member of the SEAL team (navy and land).
Upon his return to Johor, Tuanku was appointed Deputy Commanding Officer of
the State Loyalist Army. Tuanku also participated in three months of naval
training at the Royal Malaysian Navy Base in Lumut, thus equipping Tuanku as
an army, navy and air force officer.

To balance his military training and to make the King an authoritative and
respected King, His Majesty continued his studies at the Fletcher School of Law
and Diplomacy in Boston, Massachusetts USA. Tuanku attended and completed
two courses, ‘Southeast Asian Strategic Studies’ and ‘International Laws of the
Seas’.

CONTRIBUTIONS

Other than that , His Majesty always donates food and
provide affordable housing and scholarships for his
people.

Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) has long been
known for its regular contribution to needy families and

opportunity creation through its scholarships and
affordable housing scheme in Rumah Mampu Milik Johor

(RMMJ)

Dedication

I consider myself as a dedicated student as I
always work hard to achieve my own goals.For

instance , I allocate an hour to revise certain
subjects so that I could better understand what I

have learned that day.

I can never stop learning in life. I
can learn from those who are older

then me and even those who are
younger have experiences and
knowledge that I can use. I will try
and experience everything in life
so that I can push my comfort
level. As Damian Thomas states ,
“If you changes your mindset you
have the ability to change the

whole world,”

RESPECT

self respect and respecting others regardless of
differences; treating others with dignity, empathy

and compassion; and the ability to earn the
respect of others.

If someone else is speaking ,
I would always listen to

them attentively as a sign of
respect. I believe in treating
others as how I want to be

treated.

CONCLUSION

Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan
Iskandar is a great role model that can be
emulated by others. Despite being the only

Sultan in Malaysia without tertiary
(postsecondary) education, His Majesty is

well known for his genuine interests in
ensuring quality education of his subjects.
