At Oakfold House we don’t serve evening meals, but there are many
restaurants in Bowness and we have listed a few below. All are within
walking distance. We can honestly say that we have not had a bad meal in
any of the restaurants that we have tried. Most seem to serve between 5pm
and 9pm. Don’t leave going out too late as you may miss out.

Jacksons Bistro West End

A comprehensive menu with many twists on well-loved
dishes and whatever you choose you won’t be
disappointed. Service is friendly and professional and a
very welcoming atmosphere has been created.

Porto is one of our favourite restaurants and has an
array of different and experimental dishes. Located in
Ash Street, the seating is located indoors, and their
food is delicious. It is popular and you will need to
book.

Villa Positano

Villa Positano is a great italian in Ash Street. A
favourite of ours, this is very popular and is usually
busy and so you will need to book.

Pubs

There are many pubs in Bowness, and below are a few that we think are
worth a visit.

The Albert Hotel

Queens Square, 015394 43241
The Albert is a modern pub in the heart of vibrant Bowness. It offers an
extensive traditional and seasonal menu, and a large selection of carefully
selected wines and beers.

The Angel Inn

Helm Road, 015394 44080
This dog friendly pub has a great beer garden. If you get the right spot, you
have a great view of the lake. They have some nice ales and good food.

Hole in t’wall

Lowside, 015394 43488
A pub that has a lot of character and history, Charles Dickens is said to have
drank here, and there is a great fire place in the back room. A good selection of
