HOSTEL
INTRODUCTION
Through surveys, Overview of
Hostel Life hopes to learn what
people think. As well illustrating
both the advantages and
disadvantages of living in a
hostel. The hostel functions as a
kind of student family. Students
should learn how important
discipline is.
It imparts flavor to them duties
associated with maintaining the
books, health and attire. Students
complete all tasks alone till they
can stand on their own two feet. It
has both advantageous and
detrimental features. Students must
deal with it when student check into
our shared room in the college
dorm having roommates.
Additionally, students require
plush restrooms, cozy lodgings,
and a pleasant environment.
However, this project has shown
us that there are problems that we
can identify and address.
The problems is :
➢ Room Issues
➢ Aisle Issues
➢ Facility Issues
ISSUES NO.1 ROOM ISSUES
TOILET
In a toilet, we can take
care of our personal
hygiene. A complete toilet
facility is therefore
necessary. Unfortunately,
there are certain issues
that prevent students from
feeling comfortable using
it. Among them are the
toilet lights, which are
dim and easily broken,
which prevent student
from using the restroom with confidence. In
addition, the bathroom roof contains openings
where harmful insects might get in and disrupt
the environment. Last but not least, when the
sink was used, a pipe broke and water overflowed.
DRYING RACK AREA
The room's drying rack area is
very confined, which makes it
challenging for students to hang
up their clothing there. Due to
the small and constrained space,
it is challenging to dry clothes.
Additionally, the environment in
the vicinity of the dirty drying
racks, which is brought on by
outside dust, is a concern. Dry
clothing will grow dusty and make
a student's body feel dry.
ISSUES NO.2 AISLE ISSUES
Students feel less
comfortable
travelling through
the halls because of
the disorganised
trash bin management,
which makes them
quite dirty and
odorous.
The student pathway is also
slick,endangering the student’s safety.
There is a very significant chance of kids
slipping.
The stairs in the dorm are also rather
narrow, which makes it challenging for
students to move bulky objects like
luggage and laundry bags. For instance,
disputes between employees moving
furniture and students may happen and
cause minor mishaps. Additionally, the
dormitory stairs are particularly
slippery and provide a fall risk for
both staff and students.
ISSUES NO.3 FACILITIES ISSUES
STUDY ROOM The hostel provides a variety of facilities.
However , these facilities also have issues
that can't be resolved such as :
Study room blocks
have a cramped
and uncomfortable
environment for
studying. The
ventilation there
is also not good
because the area
there is quite
closed and dense.
Also, when the space is narrow it causes an
unpleasant smell that disturbs the students
in the room.
SPORT COURT
There is not enough room
for students to use the
hostel's sports court.
Students cannot, for
instance, play two games
at once. This is because
the space is so little
compared to how many
students live in hostels.
Additionally, the given
equipment is inadequate
and does not include
takraw ball, handball, net
ball, or a net to play
with.
WASHING MACHINES
There is a limited number
of washing machines
available in the hostel,
however some floors, like
the ground floor, do not
have any. As a result, the
offered machine swiftly
disintegrates because its
weight is merely 10 KG. As
a result, some students
wash their garments in the
washing machine for longer
than necessary, which
harms the machine.
WATER FILTER
(COWAY)
Students place a lot of
importance on amenities
like water filters. Every
level has a water filter,
although the lowest floor
is the only one without
one.The inability to go up and down stairs
to obtain water makes it tough for
students who reside on the ground floor.
Water will be gushing and spilling there
once they've fetched the water. The floor
gets slick as a result and it eventually
turns mossy.
VENDING MACHINES
Vending machines are located throughout
the hostel, including in the cafe and
each male and female student block.
Vending machines occasionally function
and occasionally they don't.
Additionally, the supply of food and
drinks at vending machines always runs
out. Another issue is a vending machines
with a stuck door. Access panels for
drinks or other products may get dented
and worn as vending machines get older.
When students drop out, it could be
challenging for them to obtain the
things they desire.Finally, the issues
of bills money. Some of the available
vending machines have trouble receiving
bills, particularly when the currency is
wrinkled. Additionally, the funds will
not be reimbursed by the machines.
SOLUTIONS
ROOM SOLUTION
ASSURE TOILET ROOFS AND LIGHTS ARE REPAIRED
➢ The staff of the dorm needs to fix the
damaged lights and the hole in the toilet
ceiling for the comfort and security of the
students. Students will feel secure and
protected using the restroom in their room
with this.
PRESENT A LARGE AREA AND A SUITABLE SETTING
➢ So that students may more easily dry their
garments, they must switch to a new drying
rack. In order to prevent environmental dust
from adhering to students' clothing,
dormitory personnel must additionally erect
nets in each location used for drying
clothes. Once dried, student clothing will
be less dusty and simpler to dry.
AISLE SOLUTION
AVOID THE GARBAGE BEING FULL
➢ In order to keep the hallway clean and
odor-free, management should make sure
that the trash cans are replaced when
they are full and don't let the waste
out. Regular cleaning is also required
to keep the hallways from becoming
overly slick. When passing in the
hallway, students will feel at ease and
at ease.
FACILITIES SOLUTION
STUDY ROOM
➢ provide an automatic air freshener (always
repaired if there is a problem once a
month)
➢ adding additional plugs (students can
easily charge their phones or laptops)
SPORT COURT
➢ Set up court dividers for several sporting
events at once.
WASHING MACHINE
➢ To make it simpler for students to wash
their clothes without going to the laundry
outside the hostel, the hostel needs to
offer a washing machine on every floor that
doesn't have one.
➢ Always do a monthly maintenance on the
washing machine to prevent damage.
WATER FILTER (COWAY)
➢ To make it simpler for students residing on
the bottom floor to access water supply, a
water filter must be added. To prevent
slick floors in the interim, the staff must
set up a catchment container to catch the
water that will overflow after use.
VENDING MACHINE
➢ To keep students satisfied, think about
stocking more of the other things if one is
popular.
➢ Vending machine repair is required. This
fix could be as easy as swapping out an
outdated component to get the system back
to full functionality.
➢ In this case, replacing the door or access
panel will quickly restore the vending
machine to full functionality.
CONCLUSION
Based on our observations, we have
come to the conclusion that some
amenities offered to each hostel are
on the same level as some amenities
from other levels. The benefits of
decent facilities are tied to student
satisfaction. The college must also
give some hostels the attention they
need for improvement. Hostel
amenities like cleanliness must be
upgraded. For boarding students to
be evenly distributed, management
should also make an effort to close
the convenience difference.
