~ Super Licence Points ~

During the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) held in
Geneva on March 9th 2018, it has been decided to include the
Castrol Toyota Racing Series into the table of points.

Therefore, the top 5 drivers in the championship standing
will be awarded with the following points :

1st : 7 pts
2nd : 5 pts
3rd : 3 pts
4th : 2 pts
5th : 1 pt

~ What is a Super Licence ?~

The FIA Super Licence is a qualification allowing the licence-
holder to compete in the Formula One World Championship as a
driver.

In order to get that qualification there are some criteria :
- The driver must be at least 18 years old at the start

of the event of his first F1 race weekend.
- The first time he applies for a Super Licence, the

driver must have completed at least 80% of each of two full
seasons of any of the single-seater Championships listed by the
FIA (of which TRS is now one).

- Have accumulated at least 40 points during the three
-year period preceding their application (the results of
a maximum of 2 championships can be accumulated in a single
calendar year).

~ Time to rebuild ~

The chequered flag on February 12th in Manfeild
has concluded the 14th season of the
Castrol Toyota Racing Series but has started the preparation of
the cars for the 2019 season.

Cars have been back in the Toyota Racing New Zealand
workshop at the Hampton Downs circuit from the 17th February
to undergo a full dismantle and rebuild for the upcoming season.

Each car will be pulled apart, checked and rebuilt.
All the engines will be rebuilt and pass a dynamometer
check before getting fitted again on the cars.
All the gearboxes will be entirely pulled apart, checked and
rebuilt.
This preparation and regular updates on the cars will
be performed from March to December with the shakedown of
the 20 cars being scheduled for December 10th and 11th.

For the 7th year in a row, Toyota
New Zealand organized the Toyota Festival for all the kiwis
Toyota fans. It was an unique opportunity to share the love
of the #1 brand in New Zealand for the last 30 years.

This year, it was held at Highlands Motorsport Park in
Cromwell.

A lot of activities were organized :
- track sessions
- gymkhana
- show & shine competition
- simulator sessions
- pit stop contest
- hot laps in TR86
- a demo of the FT50 in its new livery

The FIA F3 European Championship is the series with the most TRS alumni :
almost half the field came to New Zealand to prepare themselves for their
challenge in the F3 series. 10 drivers from 2018 FIA F3 Series have chosen to
compete in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series in the past 3 years : Shwartzman
(2018), Armstrong (2017,2018), Daruvala (2016,2017), Habsburg
(2015,2016,2017), Ahmed (2017), Zhou (2016), Vaidyanathan
(2017), DeFrancesco (2017), Andres (2017) and Hanses (2015).
