Appreciation
Thank Allah for giving me the opportunity to
complete this continuous assessment. Peace
and blessings be upon the Prophet SAW who
guided us the right path to Allah. Not forgetting
my lecturer, Madam Raja Zaida Binti Raja
Ahmad who provided guidance in carrying out
this assignment and taught me to use very
interesting methods. To some extent I like
English a little bit.
Likewise my parents who support and
understand me who need space and time to
prepare this paper with quality. To my friends,
thank you for staying cheerful which directly
affects my performance of each task.
Many thanks also to each individual who
provided support either directly or indirectly.
May we all receive the intercession of Prophet
Muhammad SAW

Why I Chose to Pursue a
Career as a Doctor
When I was a child, I hoped that I would have
superpowers one day. I thought that the ability
to fly or be invisible will enable me to fight
crime. That was my idea of making a difference
in the world. Now that I have grown up and find
myself having to make important career
decisions, I realise that I wish to become a
doctor. I mean cardiologist. With a more realistic
perception of life, I believe that this is truly an
effective way to make a difference in our world.
Generally, the word “career” is always defined
as what you need to be in the future or based on
what others ask you to be. In spite of that, the
real thing is it is all about what you want to do
and to be. “Do not hear to any one who belittles
your ambition” that is what my best friend said.
That means, keep on the path you like, follow
your heart. Genius people never hesitate on
whatever choice they take. You know what? I
will not quit until I make my dreams come true.
Also, I have heard one quote, “When we dream,
there’s no reason why we shouldn’t dream big.”
There are several reasons I chose this career
path. First of all, I love chemistry and body
anatomy. Being around someone who knows
about it, finding the majesty of the world and
how our body works. That was even my prime
reason to change school back then when I was
given to choose whether religious school or
boarding school. Until now, I have not felt even
an itty-bitty regret at all. Also, investing in
someone's health is among my greatest
passions. Hone knowledge in ways to heal and
treat my patient will never be my regret. In
short, I will never be bored with the
responsibilities that come with becoming a
specialist in cardiology and surgery.
The words “helping others lead to helping
yourself” definitely play a role in strengthening
my will. Since I was young, I met a lot of kind
doctors and dentists. Nevertheless, they give
various advice whether it is about health or
morality through speech or action. Yet, I observe
all of them while they treat my family members
and at that time, I asked about something I was
curious about. That is what I want to do in the
future as well.
Additionally, I am ambitious by nature. This
means that treating people and animals well,
remembering the use of every medicine and
staying focused for a long time won’t be a
problem for me. Since I also like adventures, I’ll
truly take pleasure in learning in active
education rather than a normal study process.
For instance, in science classes especially
chemistry one, the experiment, try and error
learning processes must be provided for better
understanding about every concept and theory.
Can you imagine learning the chemical
reactions all over without seeing it in real life
and including physical activities? Pretty hard
right? You are even encouraged to try and make
mistakes in order to have a high level of
understanding. Have you made a mistake that
resulted in a new discovery? Hence, I have
always found a certain satisfaction in chemistry
experiments and knew I wanted to make a
career in research and development.
On the other hand, I am fascinated in how
fast the digital space is changing and the
enormous impact of medical technology on
human lifespan. In fact, during the Covid-19
crisis, I have read about the use of a super
computer which is searching and
demonstrating the possible ingredients and
steps to make drugs and vaccines. In this case, if
there’s always a way to appease the ailment. In
fact, the constant change of virus behaviour is
outstanding and the urge to develop new kinds
of treatment never ends.
As the news told us that there are over 5
variants and subvariants of coronavirus around
the world and even cause failure to our organ
activities. Also, no exception to the heart. Back
to the topic, I can imagine what technology can
be in 2030. Honestly, I feel pumped up in front of
all those challenges and space. Someone has
said to me, “Either it’s high risk or not, we need
to grab the opportunity.”
Following that, I want to become a
cardiologist because I welcome the challenge of
long period surgery in every case that I need to
face. Generally, no matter what you do, or what
we want, a test is a must. Hence, I understand
the hardships of this field of work, but I am not
afraid of the challenge. I believe that each illness
has unique treatment and the chance to help
my patient to live normally. To be exact, 1 out of
thousand people suffer from narrow arteries due
to cholesterol deposition and plaque in the wall
of the artery. .
And, according to the media, the possibilities
of success to this kind of condition are about
40% as it is handled by the best specialist. No
way out except get rid of it to regain their
mobility as before. Paradoxically, it also stabilises
the doctor that joins the surgery to the next level
of proficiency. In the case of someone who
thinks it is hard to confront as well as they
become a doctor, always remember, giving up
never comes up with anything. At least try to
achieve it because it is part of life. To close,
people need help as we do, so reaching the
point where I can help people the most makes
me a kind hearted person and the best of the
best
Though there has been much reason for this
choice, it is clear that cardiologist is my passion
in my whole life at this moment. This is made
evident by the fact that aspiration to be scientist
and surgeon in cardiology is challenging but
appealing at the same time. It cannot be
doubted anymore as the path to be the one is to
do the experiment and experience the real stuff.
In addition, it allows us to easily realise any error
in our thoughts. After I graduate, I hope that I
will one day get absorbed into a specialist
hospital as I want to exchange knowledge,
experience and opinion with a doctor who is an
even more capable and skilled person.
