Not Your Average Pet Collar

Caninus began in 2001 as the first ever dog-
fronted grindcore band. Singers Budgie and Basil
(RIP) were both pitbull mixes rescued from shelters
in the New York City area. Caninus gained
notoriety after releasing a CD and several split 7"s
and were featured in magazines and on the
Howard Stern show multiple times.

Rachel (AKA Belle Molotov in Caninus) has been involved in animal
rescue for the last 15 years, volunteering her time at shelters
walking dogs, fostering, taking photos for Petfinder as well as
adopting her own crew of rescue dogs over the years. She has also
spent almost the last 25 years, playing guitar and bass for multiple
hardcore bands, the most well-known being Indecision, Most
Precious Blood and Caninus.

Caninus Collars started as an offshoot of the band Caninus,
where Rachel wanted more alternative style collars for her
own dogs with skulls, tattoo style drawings or Dia De Los
Muertos themes and felt others would like it too.

Rachel spent much of her early time creating special collars for
her own dogs as well as the dogs at the shelter she
volunteered at to help get them adopted. The company grew
over time and we found our niche in creating unique and
alternative style collars for larger dogs.

We are also one of the first companies officially licensing
designs from hardcore and metal dogs to create pet collars for
both dogs and cats that reflect their owner’s musical tastes.

We continue to give back to shelters and rescues by donating
collars and leashes.

After a test run using Rachel’s band Indecision, the first band collar to come
out was for hardcore veterans Madball in 2016. The response was great with
sales of both dog and cat collars as well as key chains and lanyards for people.

The trend was continued with collars for road warriors and NYHC legends Sick
of it All and LAHC stalwarts, Terror.

In 2017, Caninus Collars secured a license for legendary
punk rock band, Misfits, with two different designs
available.

For metal legends, Judas Priest, the design was printed the directly on the webbing, producing the most durable version of
our band collars yet.

Each band dog collar is available in 3 different styles:
Side Release Buckle
Martingale
Martingale with Buckle

Leashes are available in 4 and 6 ft lengths.

The standard dog collar width is 1” however depending on the band, they can be made in widths ranging from 5/8” to 1 ½”

In addition to exclusive licensed band collars, Caninus Collars
continues to offer over 80 different fabric wrapped nylon
collars, with new designs being offered every year and with
options to customize hardware and buckle color on the
website.

Standard nylon dog collars are also sold in bright and more
unique colors than can be found in stores.

All collars are made locally in Orange, CA.

New Noise Issue 29

Caninus Collars has sold upwards of 26,000 collars
across all platoforms since the inception of Caninus
Collars LLC in 2015. Our collars have also been sold
on rockabilia.com as well as in Europe at
coretexrecords.com. We have also had a booth at
Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, CA for the last 3
years which is now up to 30,000 attendees and
have collaborated with Indie Merch to make collars
for Black Dahlia Murder and Kublai Kahn.

In addition, the Caninus Collars team has grown to
include Derek Morse (CEO since 2015) and Kathy
Kondo (Assistant Designer/Sewing Machine
Operator since 2017).

As we continue to expand our offering of fabric and
nylon collars, we are eager to expand our offering
of metal, punk and hard rock band pet collars by
acquiring new licensing deals. We often get
requests for collars from various bands and
ultimately want to become the go-to source for
these items.
