Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Student Chapter Founded at the dawn of the computer age, ACM’s reach extends to every part of the globe, with more than half of its 1,00,000 members residing outside the U.S. Its growing membership has led to Councils in Europe, India, and China, fostering networking opportunities that strengthen ties within and across countries and technical communities. Our ACM Student Chapter falling under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a leading platform for students and faculty to hold networking events including annual conferences, workshops, and other events. Through this Student Chapter, we hope to encourage students to diligently pursue their interest in computer technologies and contribute towards the revolution our world is moving towards. With the help of our faculties, along with support from ACM, we hope to create proficient computer engineers. Visualive – The Creative Society Visualive is the creative society at The NorthCap University. The main objective of this society is to bring people together to participate in events that foster creativity and help students in nurturing their inner confidence, instil curiosity and much more. In this society, students showcase their ideas and, together as a team, execute them in successful events. Members of Visualive are also greatly appreciated for creating digital artwork like posters, pamphlets, banners, covers etc. for other clubs and societies too, as part of their sole belief in helping others and moving forward together. Clubs & Societies Computer Society of India (CSI), Student Chapter Computer Society of India (CSI) is the first and largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6 March, 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. Today CSI takes pride in being the largest and most professionally managed association of and for IT professionals in India. The Student Chapter of the Computer Society of India at NCU is a non-profit professional society, which meets to exchange views and information as well as learn and share ideas. The wide spectrum of members is committed to advancing the theory and practice of Computer Engineering and Technology Systems, Science and Engineering, Information Processing and related Arts and Sciences. The aim of the club is to inspire, nurture and assist students in integrating into the IT community. Data Analysis and Research Group Data Analysis and Research Group is an interdisciplinary research group concerned with the effective analysis of data. The aim of this group is to create better tools and algorithms for analysing and displaying data. Students as part of this club are known to perform many research and development activities on a wide range of topics, including big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, image and signal processing, optimisation, pattern recognition, statistics and visualisation. The mission of this club is to develop methods and promote innovative research in the area of data analysis by serving as a platform for collaborative research efforts fostering the interaction between industry and academia in the field. They conduct many FDPs, workshops, short-term courses and symposiums for a variety of audiences in collaboration with some technical agencies and industry. 60
The Society of Cyber Security Education and Research (SOCER) The Society of Cyber Security Education and Research (SOCER) is the first cyber security initiative at The NorthCap University. The objective of this club is to equip students with the tools necessary to conceptualise cyber issues, bolster formal cybersecurity education programmes and conduct high-end training on cybersecurity for Government of India officials / police and common manpower. Becoming a member of SOCER ensures that the student can learn all defence strategies prevalent in Cyberspace against several security threats by building innovative tools and technologies and performing high-quality research. This society conducts workshops at different universities and institutions to spread awareness among students. The Institution of Engineers (India) The Institution of Engineers (IEI) is a statutory body that promotes and advances engineering and technology ideologies. This institution has been serving the engineering fraternity for over a century with its national presence in 125 centres spread all over India. The NorthCap University runs a Students Chapter of IEI which conducts various technical events like webinars, project competitions, quizzes, workshops, certification programmes etc. The chapter also organises nontechnical events like yoga sessions, fests etc., for the holistic development of the students. Data Science Centre Of Excellence With iMAC Lab The Centre of Excellence for Data Science is a pivotal initiative towards addressing the challenge and positioning of our university as a premier global destination for Data Science aspirants. It offers valueadded programmes and training sessions for enhancing students’ employability as per the latest requirements of the industry in the domains of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Hence, we aim to provide an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship for our future leaders to thrive. The Data Science Centre of Excellence is facilitated with ultra-modern systems to enable students to perform their research and day-to-day tasks in emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Game development, etc. Cyber Security Centre of Excellence With the progressively destructive nature of cyber crimes and attack vectors in private and public sectors, we heavily rely on Cyber Security and Forensics professionals to keep personal and professional information safe. Keeping this in mind, the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CoE) at NCU was established in March of 2020 for capacity building in the area of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. This lab complements Cyber Security and Forensics specialisation and is currently equipped with high-end configuration systems. Honeywell Centre of Excellence As a part of the collaboration with ICT academy, the Department of Computer Science has set up a Honeywell Centre of Excellence (COE) for youth empowerment in December 2022. With the motto of igniting innovative skills among students, this Centre of Excellence is involved in upskilling students in different skills like MS Azure, for in-demand technology in the industry through 100 hours of activity-based and handson training. We also have a certification programme fully sponsored by Honeywell being offered free of cost to students in addition to placement facilitation after successful completion of training. Tinkering Lab Tinkering Lab spurs creativity and fosters curiosity and imagination in young minds to go beyond regular curriculum and textbook learning. It promotes hands-on, innovative ways for students to design, build, experiment and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering, management, law etc. Moreover, this lab is used for fostering entrepreneurship and is utilised by students as the incubating and acceleration point for future business startups. The dedicated technical staff and faculty members provide handson experience in emerging areas such as IoT, big data, cloud computing, robotics etc. Canvas LMS The best-in-class LMS used by Ivy League colleges like Princeton, Yale etc., Canvas is the official learning management system of NCU. We lend support from this extensive and futuristic LMS to enhance the learning experience across all our different schools including, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Law and School of Management and Liberal Studies. Canvas provides tools for staff to develop and administer course websites. This robust teaching and learning tool helps in content management (files, links, library integration), interactive assessments, discussion forums, blogs, SpeedGrader, learning analytics, integration of ASU-enabled hybrid courses, and cloud-hosting at Amazon Web Services (AWS). 64

Cisco Networking Lab under the Department of CSE was set up to meet the growing demands for ICT professionals and improve students’ career prospects. This lab aims to inculcate networking and IT skills in students who want to expand their knowledge and become industry-ready. From the latest state-of-the-art infrastructure and training sessions given by Cisco-certified instructors to hands-on training on real routers and switches and placement support, we have it all covered under the Cisco Networking Lab. Centre for Language Learning offers courses on ‘Effective Communication’ as well as compulsory foreign languages, viz., German, Spanish and French, to students across all three schools of the university including the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Students enjoy the opportunity to learn English and foreign languages while also enhancing their employability skills and promote a compulsory skillbased approach.
