Unclean food can contain harmful substances or bacteria that can cause food-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, food poisoning, hepatitis A, and others. Meanwhile, food handlers also need to ensure that the clothes worn when handling food are clean, appropriate, and do not contribute to any food contamination because the main factor that is often associated with the occurrence of foodborne diseases is hygiene and food safety. The purpose of this study is to identify the level of knowledge of food operators about food safety at Tanjung Aru Beach stalls and to identify the attitudes and practices of food operators at Tanjung Aru Beach stalls. This study was conducted at Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, using a questionnaire. The respondents consisted of a total of 66 food operators licenced by Tanjung Aru Beach Asset & Service Management. The results of the study were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27 software method. Therefore, the results of the study found that the respondents had good knowledge about food safety. However, the study found that the respondents had less knowledge about how Typhim VI injection can prevent typhoid disease (72%). The results of the study also found that respondents have a positive attitude towards handling food. Findings found that respondents have a good attitude by cleaning the workplace before starting work (72%). The respondent's practice in handling food shows that the practice of scratching the face and hair while handling food is not very satisfactory, with a mean result of 2.46. Knowledge, practice, and attitude are closely related to food safety and have a P-value of 0.069. Therefore, this study can provide guidance to Kota Kinabalu City Hall on how to plan a system and improve aspects of food hygiene. ISSUE OF LESS SUPPLYING LOCAL RICE IN BERNAS INDUSTRY ADZWINA BINTI MUHAMMAD ABBY ELLVERA JUNNE EGATHISWARY A/P SARAVANAN NADIATUL AISYAH BINTI SAHIDAN MASLIZA IDANI MAHMOOD (SUPERVISOR) Abstract Food is a basic thing in a person's life. It is not appropriate when a food shortage crisis, especially local rice occurs in our country. Several factors including market demand, pricing and government policies can influence the choice to supply imported rice instead of local rice. Importing rice may be more cost-effective in some cases, especially if local production cannot meet the demand or if imported rice is available at a lower cost. It's essential to consider the specific circumstances and policies in place in the region or country to understand why imported rice is being supplied over local rice. But it is becoming more and more a question mark of society now. Where is the disappearance of our local rice? The first issue for less supply of local rice is less demand for local rice. Nowadays, there is no demand for local rice which can be solved by building partnerships between manufacturers and farmers. This can indirectly increase the production of local rice. Secondly, the issue with supplying less local rice is there is no price ceiling for imported rice because the price of imported rice is based on market price, and the solution to this issue is government should provide a subsidy to paddy farmers. The third issue is manipulative action by wholesalers. So, the solution is the government should have an audit examination of the factory. So that there will be no deviation and examine the supplications. The last issue of less supplication of local rice is climate change and natural disasters, which can be solved by planting paddy in buildings under the artificial sun.
