What does the reader learn from the epilogue in this novel? Do
you think the epilogue was necessary?

The reader learns that Winnie did not drink the spring water that
Jesse told her to. The reader learns this because Mae Tuck and
Angus Tuck find her tombstone in the graveyard. I think the
epilogue was necessary because the reader would not have
known that without the epilogue.
