Introduction of Alphabet:
In the month of July, the children were introduced to the letters A, B, C, and D. Each
alphabet was introduced through a group activity done by the children. This helped in
enhancing their early language skills and they co-related the letter to its respective
sound by uttering the sound.
Letter A Activity:
For the Alphabet A, children stuck the pencil shavings on the body of the alligator.

Sounds:
The birds chirping in the morning, flipping the pages
of a book in the class room, or the buzz of a bee
flying by, can now be heard! It can open up a whole
new world of sounds and vocabulary for children.
Putting together a collection of items that make
different kinds of sounds is a great way to introduce
sounds to the pre-schoolers. From animal sounds to
musical instruments and jingling keys, children
enjoyed discovering soft sounds and loud sounds.

Letter C Activity:
For Letter C activity, children decorated a cake which was pre-drawn on a KG cardboard

Magic Paints (Colouring Activity):
Children love bright colours. To stimulate young brains a lot of patience and creativity is
required. Crayon art has been around since we were kids.
It’s a timeless craft for children and fun to colour over and over again! It’s amazing how
a child’s creativity is expressed through the use of white crayon. It was a simple process,
children were amazed when they saw their names hidden in white crayon appear as
they painted over with watercolours.

Seasons:
Seasons was the best way to introduce the concept of time and weather. We chose

children were given a rainy season worksheet to colour.

Mystery Box:
Mystery box is a versatile and essential material in early childhood. Mystery box is a
simple box in which the teacher places objects that the students cannot see. The
student uses his/her sense of touch to explore the object from the box.
Objects starting from the letter sound ‘A’,’B’,’C’ and ‘D’ had been placed inside the
mystery box and children explored the objects with excitement.
Advantages are,
• It can develop the sense of how things feel?
• It stimulates and cultivates the student’s intellectual curiosity.
• Helps to know the object names for each alphabet.
• Children learn the first sound.

Splash pool:
Water play is an inevitable part of pre-school curriculum as it helps in gross motor
development, eye hand co-ordination and also helps in vocabulary development.
Bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm, in their colourful swim suits children
thoroughly enjoyed the splash pool activity, jumping in the water and splashing water
on their friends.

• Water play allows children to explore and interact with each other. This is a
confidence booster for kids!
• It takes more muscle strength for children to move arms and legs through water
this in turn develops muscles and motor skills and helps improve coordination.

Free play:
Free Play allows children to use their
creativity while developing their
imagination, dexterity, physical, cognitive
and emotional strength.
• Play is important for healthy brain
development. It is through play that
children engage and interact with
their surroundings.
• Most children aren’t getting enough
Vitamin D, an essential vitamin, just
by drinking milk. The sun provides a
free and natural way to reap these
benefits by preventing diseases and
building strong bones. Be sure to
increase Vitamin D in your child’s diet
to reach the desired amount of 400
International Units per day.

• Children will be more willing to join in games and activities, while they will also be
more likely to talk to different children and make new friends. Thus improving social
skills.
• Children learn how to take turns while playing games, to pick themselves up when
they fall, resulting in learning how to be independent and self-reliant.

Role Play – My Family
Role Play is an important part of a child’s education. Imagination is a powerful tool
which is innate in some children but needs encouragement for others. It is important to
provide children with the opportunity to develop their imagination. Role Play enhances
intellectual development, improves social skills and creativity.
Children were given stick puppets of Father, Mother, Brother and Sister for role play
during “My Family” activity.

Paper Tearing and Pasting Activity:
This activity is a lot of fun and also necessary for the development of finger muscles.
Tearing the paper and gripping the paper with their fingers, increases hand strength and
also makes way for more complicated actions amongst children.
Children enjoyed tearing and pasting activity in their Pre-Skills book.

Scissor Activity:
Cutting gives young children independent movement of each finger. Cutting with
scissors works on the separation of two sides of the hand and strengthens hand
muscles. Bilateral coordination is also addressed when they have to hold the scissors in
one hand and paper in the other hand.
Benefits of cutting with scissors:
• Independent movement of each finger
• Strengthens hand muscles
• Bilateral coordination skills (two-handed coordination)
• Visual motor skills (eye-hand coordination)

• Visual perceptual tasks (directionality)
• Fine motor skills (separation of hand, finger dexterity)
• Promotes grasp pattern
• Focus and attention
Singing:
Children love music. A catchy song is sure to get them singing and dancing to the new
tune. Singing is a great way to teach basic concepts, proper behaviour as well as social
skills. Nursery rhymes with music are fun for children.
Children enjoyed singing session with their music teacher Ms. Sharon.
