2022 San Antonio Business Hall of Fame

SAHOF22-DigitalProgram

A Message from Junior Achievement

Welcome to the Junior Achievement San Antonio Business Hall of Fame. We
thank you for joining us as we celebrate 31 years of honoring business
leaders in our community. A special thanks to SWBC, who is the Presenting
Sponsor for this prestigious event.

As the largest business and economics education organization in the world, JA
Worldwide reached over 10 million young people during the 2020-2021
school year educating them in financial literacy, workforce readiness and
entrepreneurship. In our 42nd anniversary year, Junior Achievement of South
Texas reached 41,612 students in San Antonio and South Texas. None of this
would be possible without the support of our donors and over 300
volunteers. Thank you for your belief in and support of our mission to inspire
and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

The distinguished laureates to be inducted into the San Antonio Business Hall
of Fame exemplify the American dream. As business leaders, their work has
strengthened our community. In honoring them, we hope to inspire young
people to pursue excellence and their dreams for a better tomorrow.

Tonight we congratulate and honor the 2022 laureates: Mary Rose Brown,
Walter Embrey, Jr. and Sheryl Sculley.

Sheryl Sculley

San Antonio City Manager 2005-2019

Sheryl Sculley served as city manager of San Antonio from 2005-2019. In that
position, she was the chief executive officer overseeing 13,000 employees
with an annual operating and capital budget of $2.8 billion, and a city
population of 1.5 million residents.
Sheryl proposed the three largest bond programs in city history totaling $2
billion including 450 construction projects for streets, sidewalks, drainage,
parks, libraries, senior centers, fire stations and museums. All three
programs were overwhelmingly approved by San Antonio voters and the
projects were executed with precision, on time and within budget.
Among her achievements in San Antonio, Sheryl pushed to renovate the
downtown Henry B. González Convention Center, worked to increase the
number of conventions coming into the city and backed the expansion of the
San Antonio River Walk from three miles to more than fifteen. In 2015, she
was honored with the Robert H. H. Hugman Award for her contributions to
the city of San Antonio.
