Asian Winter Squash

Zuccurì has a very unique texture that is crumbly and smooth at the same time. When you bite into cooked Zuccurì,
it first crumbles, like it is breaking down to very fine powder form much like sweets made of almond flour. But instead
of being dry, you are immediately hit with the second texture, which is rich, starchy and smooth. It is because of these
characteristics Zuccurì is called “chestnut squash”. And its natural sweetness if misleading to the point many mistake
it for added sugar.
We named our Kabocha squash “Zuccurì” combining word Zucca (Pumpkin/Squash in Italian) and Kuri (Chestnut in
Japanese). It is not only tasty, but an excellent source of beta-carotene and fiber.
