HOW TO COPE UP WITH THE STRESS RELATED TO COVID-19

With schools around the world closed, students, parents and teachers are facing unprecedent-
ed change. Classes are now becoming virtual. Students might have missed their friends. They
may be finding studying difficult. Parents may be worried about the family and about the fu-
ture. They may be struggling for their children’s educational needs. Many parents might have
lost funding or their job. Many may be feeling anxious, sad and uncertain, many people may be
experiencing personal difficulties. Thus, there are many causes of stress during this pandem-
ic. These feelings and stress are normal. Everyone experiences stress and a little bit of stress is
not an issue. But very high stress will have negative impact on our body and mind. It is essen-
tial to reduce the stress. Here are some ways to lessen the stress.
Basic self-care will keep our immune system strong and our emotional reserves full. When we
practice proper self-care, we do tend to feel confident about ourselves. Get enough sleep. Ex-
ercise regularly. Eat well. Try yoga and meditation. Find activities that engage yourself. Do
something physical like dancing. Occupy your mind with puzzles. Look for tasks you can post-
pone or simply eliminate from your to-do list. No matter how bad our situation is, we need to
be kind to others. How do you feel when you are struggling, suffering, in pain, and someone
reaches out to you with kindness, caring and understanding? Even in the most difficult situ-
ations, there are ways we can act on our values of kindness and caring which will help us to
reduce the stress level.
We need to focus ourselves. We might feel unmotivated now. Recognize that the current cir-
cumstances are hard for everyone. Don’t judge yourself; just do the best you can. Establish a
routine. Get up, go to bed and do your work at the same time every day. Frequent breaks can
help you re-engage in your work. Stay focused.
Social support has an immense power to lessen our stress. Your friends might have probably
scattered. And having to stay home can be lonely. To combat isolation, come together with your
friends using technology. Even something as simple as turning on your webcam during virtual
classes can help you and others feel more connected.
We must effectively manage our disappointment. Many important life events may not happen
this year. Grieve those losses, then reframe how you think about these life events. Find new
ways to celebrate. Consider recreating important events once it’s safe.
Media plays a major role in our life, including the social media. Of course, it’s good to stay in-
formed, especially about what’s happening in our area or world. But too much news — espe-
cially social media — can add to your anxiety. To avoid being overwhelmed, set limits on your
media consumption and smartphone use. Rely on reliable and reputed sources for information.
Your classmates, friends or family members may be disobeying the rules about physical dis-
tancing or doing other things that add to your stress. While modelling good behavior and stay-
ing safe yourself, recognize that you can’t control what other people do. You can only control
your own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Another thing we can’t control is the uncertainty
about what comes next. Instead of worrying about our ambiguous future, focus on solving im-
mediate problems.

LEARNING WITH A NEW VISION!!!!

Online Teaching Learning experience has been a new Class engagement through digital tools
such as learning catalytic, which gather immediate feedback on students’ learning progress
and guides the instructors on their plans and what they need to explain more or dig deeper
into. BPWS has always tried on Personalizing, with individualized study plans that cater to
each student’s need and ensure their engagement, through either synchronous or asynchro-
nous teaching. BPWS successfully started its Online Classes on 5th April 2020 for its students
from KG-G7. The enthusiasm amidst students to attend an Online Class was commendable.

WE WILL CONTINUOUSLY LEARN!!!!

BPWS has always created a very child friendly and focused environment for students. The students in Dis-
tance Learning Program are expected to maintain ongoing course engagement in order to uphold positive
academic standing with the school and the curriculum. In an online environment, “attendance” is more
than just logging into a course, or the Learning Management System (LMS). Online attendance is measured
by your academic engagement with the course content, course tools, course instructor, and with other stu-
dents in the course. Here at BPWS the students are always eager to come online and interact with their
teachers to learn new things every day. Learning has become a regularity for students, which our students
have shown through the regular attendance in the Online Classes.

CELEBRATION AND HAPPINESS!!!

What could be better than a child’s birthday celebration? Children’s birthday celebration are lots of fun.
And not just for the kids, they can bring a lot of enjoyment to the parents as well. Seeing the smile that it
puts on a child’s face is all it takes to make the parents and teachers feel happy and that it was all worth
every moment it took to pull it off. BPWS believes in keeping the environment happy and joyful always for
its kids in every possible way. During this hard time also BPWS wanted to bring that bright smile on the
face of the children. Online birthday celebration made way to that smile and brought lot of happiness for
the children.

Parent’s Corner

Dear Management and Principal,
First off all I am thankful and proud to be a parent of Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School Al Ain. My kids both joined in Bhavan’s this year (Anoush Jacob
Thomas - Grade 6 and Ashrith Jacob Thomas – Grade 2) and it has proved that my children are in the right place, where the principal, teachers, admin-
istration and entire staff, care not only about education, but also about the children’s emotional and psychological well-being. I would like to express
my gratitude to the staffs who are teaching in Grade 6 and Grade 2 and all other staff. I would like to give a very special thanks to Mr. Sooraj, who is an
extraordinary teacher and knowledgeable person, and who really loves his job and his profession. I want to appreciate the way of his teaching and the
way he is handling the children are commendable. I am confident that Mr. Sooraj would be a great fit for your school, and he will also become an asset to
help both your institution and your students to grow in any way they can.
A school is a place where students not only learn but also gain real life experiences. Therefore, passionate teachers do leadership in every corner of the
school, in every field of learning. I want to add some more names in this time and expressing our gratitude to Ms. Priya Paul, Ms. Swapna Sajesh, those
who are reflecting their commitment to students through their teaching strategy and the things what they have learnt.
Above all I want to express my sincere thanks to Mr. Rakesh. We were not familiar with the school Policies/systems/structures/staffs in the initial days
and he supported us in all the ways he can. He was a real mentor to us, especially in this hard time.
We are sincerely thankful to the School’s management and Principal for giving a supportive platform for these teachers/staffs to excel in making a differ-
ence to our son’s/schools academic and holistic education. Once again, thank you Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain.
Regards,
Jai Thomas

Hi Sir,
Good evening....

We really happy about the effort taken by entire school team regarding the preparation about online classes. Kids are enjoying it.
Regarding my daughter, she is enjoying. A small request for you mam ‘sight words’ reading practice we feel it’s little faster .In upcoming classes
please try to slow down the teaching of new sight words so even teaching those sight words and giving each kids it’s actual concept of each words
is easier. Once again I really appreciate teacher’s efforts.
