ABOUT

Hazwan Bin Hamdan has been working as an English te

acher since 2010. As a teacher, he

participated in various courses and conducted

workshops for

teachers in his district. A good connection with the Distri

ct Edu-cation Office enables him to organize these

workshops and

share his knowledge with other teachers. He likes to tell

his students that nothing can stop them if they have a str

ong will to succeed. Hazwan participated in the

AE-Teacher Program

organized by U.S Department of State in 2017 and in the

East Asia Pacific E-Teacher Seminar in Manila.

INTRODUCTION

Derived from “Excellence Through Teamwork and
Practice”, ETHOS! has travelled to many schools
across Perak and some other states in Malaysia.
ETHOS! Workshop is trying to rejuvenate the
'Bengkel Teknik Menjawab' into a workshop that
promotes teamwork while doing practices.

MODULES

In order to cater the needs of
students, a few modules were
developed especially focusing on
Grammar, Essay-writing and
summary writing. So far, 4 modules
have been developed to be used
during this workshop. However,
ETHOS! is not bound to be using
the 4 modules only. We are happy
to mix-and-match to suit the needs
of schools.

ETHOS!

1 GRAMM-ARROW

Gramm-arrow is a technique used to
ensure students able to master the
error-correction section. This module
was developed in 2015 and has
been used eversince with some
additions being included from time to
time. This technique also can be
applied when doing peer-editing.

2 SUM-IT RIGHT!

Sum-It-Right (SIR) is a module used
to ensure students able to write
summary. Students will be guided on
ways to identify points as well as
eliminate examples and elaborations.

3 FINDING THE HOOK

This technique focuses on varieties
of introductory paragraph that can be
used by students when they are
writing. Once they got it, they are
good to go!

4 ADAPT AND ADOPT

This technique is used to ensure
students can write better sentences
by adopting and adapting what they
have read. Students will read, adopt
and adapt what they have read by
keeping a list of Double-A sentences.

5 SPM & PT3 TECHNIQUES
