Biography
Nicholas Comeau is a masters prepared registered nurse that has a passion and interest in the profession of nursing and nursing education. He is currently pursing a Doctor of Nursing Practice at Catholic University of America in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care and Primary Care.
Currently, Nick is a Registered Nurse 4 in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro NC as well as a per diem staff nurse in two major academic Pediatric ICUs at Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston Salem, NC and UNC Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. He has served as a registered nurse in both burn and pediatric intensive care. Nick possess four national board certifications in pediatric critical care, pediatric emergency, general pediatrics, and trauma. In his current and previous roles, Nick has been responsible for education program and simulation development as well as leading and provisioning emergency and critical nursing care that is grounded in highest levels of quality, safety, and evidence-based practice.
Nick’s clinical interests include pediatric advanced life support, pediatric shock states, organ donation in the pediatric patient, and pediatric trauma. He is nationally published on the topic of pediatric burn sepsis and has presented nationally on the topic as well as pediatric trauma care. Additionally, his research interests include pediatric quality and safety improvements, debriefing, and simulations with standardized patients and human patient simulators.
