PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) LAYOUT DESIGN (USING PROTUES)
SECTION A: DRAWINGS SCHEMATICS USING ISIS
1. Proteus can be started by click on the START Windows. Click All Program > Proteus
Professional > ISIS Profesional. This screen will appear.
2. ISIS layout will appear as below.
3. Choose NO for this two items.
4. Note that there is a blue rectangular line in the workspace; make sure the whole circuit is
designed inside this rectangular space.
5. To choose a component, click the icon button for component mode .Then click on
to pick from library.
6. Window Pick devices will appear.
7. In this component library browser, type any character of component and it will appear
automatically. For example; to find 1k ohm resistor, type 1k in keyword box and all related
components will appear.
8. Then double click on resistor to select. Make sure the components selected have PCB
Preview otherwise we need to draw them manually. The selected component will appear in
devices box.
9. Find another component. Just double click on any components you want. Make sure all the
component show at devices box. After all components have been selected, click OK to close
the component library browser.
10. To place the components, click on a selected component list in devices box then single click
on the drawing area. The image of the selected component will appear. Then just click on
any part of drawing area to place the component.
11. To change the component orientation, just right click on the component and choose the
orientation you want or click on the Rotate icon at the left screen.
12. To make wire connection, just place the cursor on component pin until red square appear
then click on the component pin and wire mode start. Click again on the pin of other
component to join the wire. Join the wires to all components according to the circuit design.
To remove the wrong connection made, right click on the wire connection and choose delete
wire or just double right click on the wire.
13. To place the ground wire, click on a terminal mode and pick ground.
14. Save this design as contoh.dsn in your folder in pendrive.

SECTION B: PCB LAYOUT TRANSFER USING ARES
1. Check your footprint/package of all the circuit components by click the Design Explorer .
2. Now, you can see the package of all components circuit. This package is important to do a
PCB layout transfer.
3. If your design completely have all packages. You now can be click on ARES.
4. Select Generic Single Layer and Click OK.
5. Choose OK for USC Expired.
6. Click on Component Mode , you can see all of the components on your design in ISIS
have to transfer to ARES.
7. Before you place the component you must draw the rectangular for PCB first. Click on 2D
Graphics Box Mode. Make sure the rectangular you want to draw is a Board Edge layer.
8. Draw the rectangular (Board Edge) into blue rectangular (don’t out from this box).
9. Click on Component Mode again. Select on the component you want to place and place into
Board Edge(PCB) only – *Board Edge can be adjust if not fit with components. Place one by
one until finish. You can place and rotate this components with the suitable position.
10. Click on the Track Mode>double click at DEFAULT, set the width 40th and click OK for draw
the track between components.
11. To draw the track, click Tools then pick Auto Router
12. From the box Shape based auto router, click begin routing.
13. This is an example completed track drawing.
14. After finish the track drawing, you can check your design with 3D Visualization. Select
Output on the main menu> choose 3D Visualization.
15. You can see the real component on your PCB board by this 3D visualization.
