TO KNOW
ACSM 2018 Fitness Trends
The recent ACSM top trends were released. These trends are determined by a wide
array of fitness professionals via survey through the ACSM website. Every year a few
change, but often the same 5-6 trends remain constant. This year High Intensity
Interval training (HIIT) has taken the top spot, up from 3rd last year. Do you know
what HIIT is and how to incorporate it into your workout? Ask one of our knowledge-
able fitness team members or trainers. A little bit of HARD work can have tremendous
benefits.
Morning Express
All aboard the morning express train! Jenna Depinto will be leading a morning ex-
press workout on Wednesdays in Cary from 6-6:30am and 6:45-7:15am beginning
December 6th. These are total body, high intensity quickies designed to get maxi-
mum results in a short period of time.
Holiday Hustle!
From November 20th –January 1st, members and staff can participate in the holiday
hustle. Sign up and get a card at the fitness desk. Then complete listed activities to
obtain bingos. The more bingos achieved the better prizes awarded. Eliza has put
together another great program. Get your hustle on this holiday season!

solidified a year-long schedule of lifeguard certification dates and can help you be-
come proficient with not only swimming but the techniques needed to be success-
ful. Certification takes about 20 hours and occurs over a full week. For more informa-

MS 150
Team UNC Wellness participated in the Bike MS: Historic New Bern Ride on
September 9 - 10, 2017. UNC Wellness Centers formed a team for Bike MS
because we want to experience a great ride and help the National MS Soci-
ety fund research, advocate for change and help people with MS live their
best lives. We believe in this cause.
Each year the team sets a fundraising goal, which was $25,000 for 2017.
We are excited to announce that Team UNC Wellness exceeded their
goal this year and had their highest fundraising year to date raising over
$31,000!
