Why UA Little Rock?

“ I transferred to the University of Arkansas
at Little Rock as a sophomore; it was the best
academic decision I could have made. I received
so much more from the smaller, non-dormitory
school atmosphere than I ever imagined. My focus
changed from enjoying college life a little too much
to preparing for my future.
The education I received from UA Little Rock has
allowed me to sell P.A.R.K. Positive Atmosphere
Reaches Kids via newsletters, grants, social media
outlets and other avenues. It has also allowed
me to express myself on paper via my novel
The Wonder.
Just recently, for my birthday, my husband
Keith surprised me with a UA Little Rock lifetime
membership. You would have thought he had
bought me a brand new car or some over-the-top
gift the way I reacted.
My UA Little Rock education has opened doors
professionally and personally for me, and for
that, I am forever grateful. The friendships and
relationships I gained as part of the Trojan family
are ones to cherish. Several of my closest friends
are ones I met while attending UA Little Rock. UA
Little Rock has played a big part in my becoming
“the woman I am today.

Affordable and relevant, a great metropolitan
university is critical to the infrastructure of a vibrant
city. It also requires a strong alumni association that’s
engaged in civic and business leadership throughout
the Capital City. UA Little Rock boasts both – with a
shared vision for the future.

As UA Little Rock celebrates the success of its
alumni, the university and alumni reflect on the
role the institution plays in the continued economic
development of Central Arkansas and the wealth of
knowledge is offer current students.

At the Heart of the CareLink Mission...
Supporting Older Arkansans like Jimmy

Despite all the years we have to prepare for it, aging seems to sneak up on most of us. And when it does, there’s sometimes a question
of who can help. There’s where the services CareLink provides become a resource for many Central Arkansas families. Jimmy Kendrick is a
CareLink recipient and realizes the critical support the organization provides through its diverse and meaningful programs.

Jimmy never expected to be a recipient of the CareLink Meals on Wheels Program at the spry age of 78 years old - but CareLink,
Central Arkansas’s Area Agency on Aging has been his steady companion for more than ten years. In 2010, Jimmy became a family
caregiver and CareLink was there to help. Two years later, he discovered he needed a little extra help with meals. Through the years,
CareLink has continued to expand services – providing more support to those in need. “ They have more services to offer than others I
have seen,” Jimmy explains. “It’s been a positive thing, I’ve enjoyed … them. They’ve been very helpful.” Jimmy also receives daily calls
through the Telephone Reassurance Program and coordinates complimentary transportation through CareLink’s newest service.

For more than 40 years, CareLink has connected older Arkansans with resources to meet the opportunities and challenges of aging.
Learn more about services and support programs – CareLink specialists are available to visit with you.
