WHO IS WEINSBERG?

The first Weinsberg campervan saw
the light of day way back in 1969,
with coachbuilt motorhomes joining
the range in 1981. Then, in 1992, the
leisure vehicle side of Karosseriewerke
Weinsberg passed to the caravan
brand, Tabbert, which in turn merged
with Knaus in 2003. Since 2008,
Weinsberg has been the value brand
within the Knaus Tabbert Group, offering

With a layout almost identical to the Peugeot-based Symphony and Symbol, the
big-selling Duetto’s USP was its Ford Transit base vehicle, especially as here it came
in rear-wheel drive form. Arguably rather less refined than the equivalent Peugeot
Boxer, many buyers still opted for the Ford and there are plenty of these on the used
market, so always compare age, condition, mileage and price. This one has a modest
33k miles recorded and comes with an awning and reversing camera.

All Duettos have a front lounge that includes a third travel seat, while this area
adapts into twin beds or a double at night. As always, with this type of arrangement,
ensure that you are comfortable with the beds’ sizes, joins and make-up routine
before you buy.

for a fiver under £30k, but this just shows the variety that’s on offer in the world of

pre-owned ’vans. It’s low-profile coachbuilt v van conversion, front v rear-wheel

drive, German v British, and fixed bed v converting the lounge.

Despite its age, this all-silver Hymer looks surprisingly contemporary and six-metre

fixed bed layouts like this remain popular today. Having a good-sized garage in such

a compact model is a big plus.

Although the Van 512 was offered in right-hand drive, this one’s a left-

hooker. If you’re going to do lots of European touring that’s a double £29,995
plus as it’ll be cheaper than a RHD equivalent.

This was a top-end motorhome back in the day and, nearly
two decades on, the Kon-Tiki name is still being used on Swift’s
flagship motorhomes. In fact, the biggest aspect that dates this
’van is the older generation of Fiat cab. At least it has the 2.8-
litre engine and an Al-Ko chassis for better stability.

It’s comprehensively equipped, with a full cooker, separate
shower, awning, bike rack and alloys. The spacious layout
includes an overcab bed, as well as a rear lounge that can make

probably have an older motorhome that’s maintained
by an independent specialist.
