Message from the
Secondary Principal

Ty Smeins

I love the yearbook. It is like watching reruns of your favorite TV series. You have the opportunity to
relive moments in time while being able to see it through the lens of everything that you know now.
A yearbook is much like that. When you look back at the 2019-2020 school year and know how it
ends, you get to relive the joy of each moment that you spent at school. Ok, maybe not every
moment, but the overall joy of being part of the AISL student body. And, just like the development
of the characters in the show, you get to see how much you and your friends changed and grew over
the duration of the year. In the pages that proceed, you will have the opportunity to see the
development that you have experienced, one that would not have been possible without the amaz-
ing community and life of AISL. You will recall happiness and elation with every victory, performance,
or time hanging out with friends as well as sadness and disappointment of the abrupt closing of
campus and ending the year sitting in front of a screen trying to keep alive your connection with
teachers and peers. As in any truly great TV series, this school year has had lots of laughs, moments
of drama, and a suspenseful ending.
On a personal note, thank you, students and teachers, for an amazing four years at AISL. You will
never know how much fulfillment you have brought to my heart. I feel very fortunate to have had
this time at AISL loving every day of being your
principal.
