PRESIDENT’S WELCOME... Welcome to Marl Pits Home of Rossendale RUFC. Today we start the New Season. We are looking to improve on our 3rd league position of last year. After Sixteen years of being on the verge of National Level Rugby we believe the time is right to up our challenge for promotion to National 2. A few new faces have been added to the first team squad after several players have decided to move on to clubs mainly at a higher level plus, a couple of players have retired. Many of our young players introduced last season will have benefited from the experience, and alongside our first team regulars and the new players it is possible promotion is achievable. The club will again field three senior teams however our Junior section are feeling the aftermath of the pandemic and are struggling at colts levels (Seventeen plus) It appears that casual weekend work has taken over not only from rugby but many other sports at grass roots level. Our junior committee are hopeful that soon the colts can once again become a feature in our club. Today’s visitors to Rossendale are Wirral RUFC. No strangers to Rossendale they will be a stern test for our first game of the season, they finished last season with a run of seven consecutive victories.
