2 The 24 th Osaka International Music Competition Objectives of the Osaka International Music Competition: The spirit of this competition is to find a number of artists from around the world and help them to compete in an international setting. The OSAKA International Music Competition is dedicated to promoting arts and culture under the banner of world peace and mutual understanding. Music Categories: Section I • Piano: Age-E to G • String Instruments: Age-E to G • Wind Instruments: Age-J to G • Vocal Music (excluding Musical Course): Age-J to G • Harp: Junior, Senior • Vocal Music (musical): Junior, Senior Section II • Early Music (Solo and Ensemble for Harpsichord, Period Instruments etc.) • Two Pianos • Piano Four Hands • Duo • Ensemble • Folk Instruments Section III: • Youth: Junior, Infant A-C • Amateur: Virtuoso, Excellence, Superior, Senior, Silver, Duo/Ensemble


3 Age Categories: Section I Age-E1: Born between April 2, 2015 and April 1, 2017 (Grade 1-2) Age-E2: Born between April 2, 2013 and April 1, 2015 (Grade 3-4) Age-E3: Born between April 2, 2011 and April 1, 2013 (Grade 5-6) Age-J: Born between April 2, 2008 and April 1, 2011 (Junior High School) Age-H: Born between April 2, 2005 and April 1, 2008 (High School) Age-U: Born on or before April 1, 2005 and either a college or a university undergraduate or graduate student. Age-G: 1) Those who graduated from university or postgraduate course, and the general public. 2) Those who wish to apply regardless of age categories. Junior: Born between April 2, 2008 and April 1, 2017 Senior: Born before April 1, 2008 Section II No age requirement. Playing by memory is not required. Section III: Youth & Amateurs Amateurs Virtuoso: For advanced learner, born before April 1, 2008, no upper limit on age Superior: Born between April 2, 2005 and April 1, 2008 Senior: Those who have begun to learn music since becoming an adult. (18 years old and over.) Youth Junior Course (Free Program Course only): Those who were born between April 2, 2008 and April 1, 2011 Infant A Course: Those who were born between April 2, 2011 and April 1, 2014 Infant B Course: Those who were born between April 2, 2014 and April 1, 2017 Infant C Course: Those who were born on or after April 2, 2017


4 Repertoire Requirements for the Regional Round: Section I Piano Category Age-E1 1. One piece by J. S. Bach or one etude 2. One piece chosen by the contestant (including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of two pieces: 4 minutes. Age-E2 Same requirements as Age-E1 Age-E3 Same requirements as Age-E1 Age-J 1. One piece of J. S. Bach or one etude 2. One piece chosen by the contestant (including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of two pieces: 5 minutes. Age-H 1. One Fugue from J. S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier (I, II) or one Etude by Chopin (Op. 10, Op. 25) 2. One piece chosen by the contestant (including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of two pieces: 7 minutes. Age-U 1. One Fugue from J. S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier (I, II) or one Etude by Chopin, Debussy, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin or Prokofiev 2. One piece piece chosen by the contestant (including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of two pieces: 10 minutes. Age-G Same requirements as Age-U


5 Notes: - The contestant must perform in the order of Item No.1 and No. 2. - For the second piece (Item No. 2), the same opus number piece as the first piece (Item No. 1) is NOT permissible. - If the contestant plays specific movement(s) or excerpt(s) from a suite or variations, these must be specified on the application form. String Category (violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar) (Harp has different requirements.) Age-E1 One piece or pieces chosen by the contestant (including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of performance: 5 minutes. The length of performance: 6 minutes. Age-H One piece or pieces chosen by the contestant (including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of performance: 7 minutes. Age-U Violin, viola and cello: one movement from any of J. S. Bach’s Sonatas, Partitas or Suites, followed by another piece (other than J. S. Bach) chosen by the contestant. The length of two pieces: 10 minutes. Double bass and guitar: One piece or pieces chosen by the contestant including movements from a sonata or suite). The length of performance: 8 minutes. Age-G Same requirements as Age-U.


6 Vocal Music Category Age-J One song chosen by the contestant. The length of performance: 5 minutes. Age-H Same requirements as Age-J. Age-U Choose 1 or 2: 1. Opera Course: One aria chosen by the contestant. The length of performance: 5 minutes. 2. Art Song Course: One art song composed in or after 1765. The length of performance: 5 minutes. Age-G Same requirements as Age-U. Notes: - The Age-U/G contestants are required to choose Opera or Art Song Course. Musical Junior One musical song chosen by the contestant. The length of performance: 5 minutes. Senior One musical song chosen by the contestant. The length of performance: 5 minutes. Wind Category Age-J One piece chosen by the contestant. The length of performance: 5 minutes. Age-H Same requirements as Age-J

17 Jury Members Musical Category Ms. Chorlada Suriyayothin Chorlada Suriyayothin graduated her Bachelor Degree in Music Performance (voice classical) with 2nd class honored from Silpakorn University and then continued her Master Degree in Music Performance at University of Chichester, UK. She also got certificate in Musical theatre acting skills from The London Drama School (startek association) Since 2017, she has worked as a lecturer at College of Music, Mahidol University in Voice and Musical Theatre Department (Musical Theatre) where she teaches applied voice lessons. Presently, Chorlada is the Chair of Voice and Musical theatre Department and is pursuing her PhD in Music Education at the College of Music, Mahidol University. Chorlada is a member of theatre group called “New Theatre Society” as an actor in many performances and also Directing “Freeze the Dream” in Bangkok theatre Festival (2009), “Marry me will you?” in Broken heart festival (2011) and Summer Dream (2011). More than that, she joined in many Musical theatres Production in Thailand and many works in this area.


18 Ms. Kamonporn Huncharoen Kamonporn Huncharoen was born in Bangkok in 1989. She graduated master and Bachelor degrees (Honor) from the college of music, Mahidol university in vocal performance and pedagogy under the guidance of Ajarn Nancy Tsui- Ping Wei. She participated masterclasses with world renowned vocalist such as Franz Lukasovsky, Mario Diaz, Loh Siew Taun, Sophie Herve and Maureen Scott from the Voice UK. As a solo performer, she has performed regularly with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) and Thai Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Alfonso Scarano, Dr.Dariuz Mikulski, Maestro Gudni A. Emilsson and Major Prateep Suphanrojn on national and international events. She was the member of the band “FIVERA” of BEC Tero music records. With the Band, she has been perfoming nationally and internationally with famous artists and festival such as Jason Mraz, Engabert Humperdink, Pattaya music festival, Khao Yai music festival and performed in Phuket, South Africa, Zimbabwe, England, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Germany, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, and Vietnam. Since 2016, she has joined the vocal faculty at the college of music, Mahidol University. Her students have won many prizes in variety styles such as frist prize in both Musical Theater andClassical from Japan, USA, Malaysia, Germany, Hong Kong, Cananda, etc. Recently her former students have accepted to study in University of Sheffield, UK and Mozarteum University Salzburg, Austria.


19 Mr. Pitchaya Kemasingki Pitchaya is a professional recitalist, Opera singer, theatrical actor and vocal coach and had theatrical training with Patravadi Majudhon (National Artist), Manop Meejamrat and Damkerng Thitapiyasak at Patravadi Theater. He has performed with many professional opera companies include NUNI Production, Opera Siam, European Chamber Opera. Also performed in many concerts and reictals with Grand Opera Thailand such as "A weekend of Grand Opera and Culinary Art" at Anantra Riverside Bangkok, "A Celebration of Swiss Art Songs" at Swiss Hotel, "Mozart Magic & Musicals" at TCC Small Hall," A Jubilant Evening of Operatic Treasures", "Music of Love & Devotion: An Evening of Opera and Musical Favourites" at Royal Cliff Grand Hotel, Cancion and Zarzuela concert with Spanish Embassy at Siam Society and many mores. Currently, he is a full-time Instructor of voice teaching both classical/opera and musical theatre at The College of Music, Mahidol University


20 Vocal Music Category Ms. Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei is a Taiwanese born American residing in the Kingdom of Thailand. Nancy has been on the Classical Voice faculty at College of Music, Mahidol University since 1995. Teaching and nurturing young vocal talents has been her aims and passions. Under Nancy’s studio tutorage, her students are recipients of the ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-Uninet) Scholarships, HRH Princess Galyani Music Scholarships, Thai government scholarships, University scholarships, and Settrade Competition full music scholarships in Thailand. In the past two decades, her students have been the recipients of the 1st and 2nd prize winners, as well as the finalists of the international and national vocal competitions, namely Osaka International Music Competition, Japan, InternationalSinging Competition of Toulous France, China International Vocal Competition Ningpo China, Berry Alexander International Voice Competition USA, Singapore Lyric Opera ASEAN Vocal Competition, Singapore, EIMOC International Music Competition, Taiwan, International Opera Singers Competition- Alcamo, Italy, and the prestigious Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition in Germany, where her student were awarded full scholarships for the subsequent master classes and final concert in Germany. Nancy has been on judging committees for several regional and international vocal and chorus competitions. In April-May 2011, she was awarded the ASEA-Uninet Austrian-Thai Teacher Exchange scholarships in the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. She is a National Certified Collegiate Faculty by Music Teachers National Association, USA with which she has been a member since 1992. Besides giving voice lessons, Nancy gives master classes, workshops, and vocal training programs


21 Ms. Manasanun Aksornteang Manasanun graduated her Master Degree from Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University under the guidance of Ass. Prof. Duangjai Thewtong. She graduated her Bachelor Degree (Honor) from College of Music, Mahidol University majoring in Vocal Performance, studying Voice with Ms. Colleen Jennings for two years and Ms. Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei for two years. During her study, she has performed numerous concerts and recitals, including choir concerts and college’s opera projects. She has performed as Dorabella in Mozart’s opera ‘Cosi fan tutte’ in 2012. She also performed as a Priest in the college’s project ‘King Author’ by Purcell in 2010. In 2009, she has performed as Bastien in Mozart’s opera ‘Bastien und Bastienne’ and as a Snow White in the 3rd Annual Pre-college Concert in 2008. She was also invited as a guest soloist performing with Yala City Municipality Youth Orchestra. Meanwhile, she worked as a Voice Coach at Teeratada Phitsanulok School presented several Talent Shows in 2007, 2008-2009 and 2015. She also worked as a part-time voice teacher at Yamaha Music School in 2010 and at Mifa Music School in 2011 prepared students for concerts, recitals and entrance auditions. Recently, Manasanun is a faculty member of the Young Artists Music Program at College of Music, Mahidol University.


22 Dr. Fueanglada Prawang Carlson Dr. Organ Prawang Carlson is a dynamic and accomplished vocal teacher and singer, whose passion for music and education has taken her on a journey of musical excellence. A recent doctoral graduate in Voice Performance from Bangor University in the United Kingdom, where she was awarded a full scholarship, Organ has also presented her research in countries such as Russia and the UK. An international opera singer who has performed nineteen well-known roles in various operas, Organ has performed in concerts around the world, from Austria to South Africa. She is a prize-winning singer, having received awards such as the 2nd Prize Winner in the 7th Osaka International Music Competition in Japan (2007) and the 1st Prize Winner in the Thai-Chinese Vocal Competition. Since returning to Thailand, Organ has inspired numerous students to achieve international recognition through their singing, with several winning awards at international competitions. She has also been awarded a scholarship to continue her research in Vienna, a testament to her dedication and commitment to her craft. Overall, Organ is a talented and accomplished singer and teacher, who has dedicated her life to music and education, and continues to inspire and impress those around her. More recently, she is a vocal teacher at Mahidol University. .
