To start with Here are the goals for teaching reading: Goal 1: Letters are pictures of sounds Goal 2: Sounds and sound pictures makeup of the basic codes Goal 3: Spoken words a make-up of sounds Goal 4: Written words are made up of sounds pictures which represent the sounds in words Goal 5: Sound pictures in written words occur in sequence from left to right Goal 6: Fast Track English reading Goals of Teaching Reading The Little Caliphs Program has devised a method of teaching individualized reading for our children. We have our own books, strategies and targets that are not done by any other company. Our main aim is for children to be able to read fast. We believe that once the children can read, their self-confidence, their intelligence and their behavior become much better. Reading is the key to the world. leaders are readers. and we pray that all our little caliphs will become leaders one day, Insha’Allah. We hope that we can share with parents our techniques so that our children will not get confused with different techniques of teaching reading. We believe parent and school effort will nurture the child towards becoming better readers. Teaching Reading to your children TLCP Method of Teaching Reading
Just teach them to read 5 minutes a day. It can make a big difference Fill up the Record at the back of the page the date and page that your child read Bring the reading book daily to school. Put it in their school bag so that the teachers will able to continue recording your child’s reading progress Teach your child in a relax atmosphere Praise and give reward, if they still don’t knowhow, encourage them, give them some small reward Keep discussing with us We are always here to help you Parents’ cooperation is very important to ensure that the children read fast. The children will read simple stories and record their reading in the Reading Voyage book. The one who reads most will get a present from their teacher and from the school.
Choose a quite time for reading to your child, as in before a nap. bed time or after dinner Choose a special place for family reading, like a comfortable chair or pillows piled on the floor. Let your child select the book for you to read aloud Hold the book so that she or he can see the pictures. If possible, also let her or him turn the pages Take time to look at and talk about the pictures. Don’t just read the story: talk about it. Let your child point out letters, shapes, colors and animals. Understand that reading begins at home. Children read their environments, so make your home is a print rich environment Read! Don’t expect reading to be important to your children if they see that it’s not important to you Invite yourchild to readto you. If he or she is a pre reader, he’ll often interpret his own story using illustrations andhis imagination Make lists, lots of them. Make them for grocery shopping, books to buy and things to take on trips Read aloud to your child every day. You can get these books from the website. Several tips to help parents of young children promote literacy at home Remedial Class TLCP Method of Teaching Reading For the children who needs extra reading classes, we normally do this after the school hours with no extra charge. Our teachers will inform you and you need to cooperate and teach your child at home and fill up a log book that we shall give for you to fill up.
