System Settings Webpage

The following operations can be performed on the System Settings webpage
 Set the Device Name by entering desired name in the Device Name
field. The Device Name would be displayed on the header of the all the
web pages.
 Select the Unit of Exposure measurement from the Units drop down
box. CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor supports “uSv/h” and “mR/h” units.
 Set the values of CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor touch screen co-
ordinates to default values by clicking on the Default Touch button,
and
 To perform system software update by clicking on the Update
Software button.
 Click Cancel button on the System Settings web page to cancel any
changes made and return to Main Screen webpage.
 Click Submit button on the System Settings web page to save any
changes made on the System Settings web page. The Main Screen
webpage would appear.

Network Settings Webpage

The Network configuration (TCP/IP) and SMTP configuration can be setup through
the Network Settings webpage. The following operations can be performed on the
Network settings webpage.

 To obtain IP Address parameters automatically (DHCP), click the DHCP radio
button and click the Submit button. Power down the CAP-RAD Smart Area
Monitor and Power on the CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor. Close the web
browser and wait for few minutes for the DHCP assigned IP address to appear
on the Information bar on the Main Screen on CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor
unit.

 To set IP parameters manually enter the values for IP Address, Subnet Mask,
Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Secondary DNS in the Network Settings
webpage. Click on the Static radio button and the click the Submit button on
the Network Settings webpage. Power down the CAP-RAD Smart Area
Monitor and Power on the CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor. Close the web
browser and wait for few minutes. The static IP address will appear on the
Information bar on the Main Screen on CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor unit.

 NetBIOS Name (Hostname): The NetBIOS Name can be used to access the
CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor through web browser without having to know
the set IP address. The default NetBIOS Name is “SmartArea”. The NetBIOS
Name can be changed. The Name is limited to 15 characters. To view the
CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor, start the web browser. In the web browser’s
address bar, type http://(NETBIOS Name) and press Enter key.

 The SMTP Parameters can be configured on the Network Settings webpage.
The desired SMTP Server Address and the SMTP Port number can be
entered on the Network Settings webpage. The CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor
only supports the Non-encrypted SMTP Servers. If the SMTP Server needs
any authentication, the SMTP Login ID and the Password can be entered in
the Network Settings webpage.

 Click on the IP Access button on the Network Settings webpage; the IP
Access webpage would appear.

 Click on the Cancel button on the Network Settings webpage to cancel any
changes made on the Network Settings webpage and return to the Settings
webpage. Click on the Submit button the Network Settings webpage to save
changes made on the Network Settings webpage. The Settings webpage
would appear.

Network Settings webpage
IP Access webpage

The CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor provides access control by client (Web Browser)
IP Address. The IP Access webpage has ten positions to define ALLOW IP ranges
and ten positions to define DENY IP ranges.

 The user can activate an IP range by:
o Enabling the checkbox on the left,
o Entering the desired IP address and the Mask and
o Entering description which is optional.

Example: IP: 192.168.2.0 and Mask: 255.255.255.0 defines IP ranges
192.168.2.0 – 192.168.2.255

Example: IP: 192.168.2.13 and Mask 255.255.255.255 defines one IP
Address 192.168.2.13

 Allow, Deny: The Allow, Deny radio button allows the CAP-RAD Smart Area
Monitor to evaluate ALLOW IP ranges first and the DENY IP ranges. Hence, the
DENY IP ranges should be in the set of ALLOW IP ranges, otherwise it was
already denied.

 Deny, Allow: The Deny, Allow radio button allows the CAP-RAD Smart Area
Monitor to evaluate the Deny IP ranges first and then the ALLOW IP ranges.
Hence, the ALLOW IP ranges should in the part be in the set of DENY IP ranges,
otherwise it was already allowed.

 Click on the Cancel button on the IP Access webpage to discard any changes to
the IP Access webpage and return to the Network Settings webpage.

Alarm Settings webpage
The data obtained by the device are evaluated based on two user-defined alarm
levels: High Threshold level and Low Threshold level.

Settings Alarm Levels:
 Enter the High Threshold and Low Threshold values in the Alarm Settings
webpage. The Exposure measurement unit selected would be displayed next
to the High Threshold and Low Threshold fields on the Alarm Settings
webpage.

Settings Beeper Mode:

 The user has option to determine when the device should sound an alarm.
 The user can choose one out of the three beeper modes. The device supports

the following beeper modes.
o Off mode: Neither high level nor low level alarms are accompanied by
alarm sounds.
o Beep on High Threshold Only Mode: Only readings higher than alarm
threshold are accompanied by an alarm sound.
o Beep on high or Low threshold Mode: Both readings higher than Low
Alarm Threshold or High Alarm Threshold are accompanied by an
alarm sound.

Note: The High Level alarm cannot be lower than the current Low Level alarm
or higher than 1000 mR/h. Similarly, the Low Level alarm cannot be zero or
higher than the High Level alarm.

 The changes made in the Alarm levels gets reflected on the Current Status
Bar on the Main Screen webpage.

 The device has predefined 1.5 µSv/h low alarm limit level and 3.5 µSv/h high
alarm limit level when it is shipped from the factory.

Settings Relay Mode:

 The Cap-RAD Smart Area Monitor has three relay output allowing an external
alarming device connection.

 The user can choose one out of the seven Relay modes for each Relay. The
device supports the following Relay Modes.
o Off Mode: Neither high level nor low level alarms turn on the Relay.
o Turn On only for High (internal or external): This mode turns on the
Relay when readings are higher than the higher alarm threshold. This
is applicable to Internal or External GM counters.
o Turn On for High or Low (internal or external): This mode turns on the
Relay when readings are higher than Low Alarm Threshold or High
Alarm Threshold. This is applicable to Internal or External GM counters
attached to the device.
o Turn On only for High (internal): This mode turns on the Relay when
the readings are higher than the higher alarm threshold. This is
applicable to Internal GM counter only.
o Turn On for High or Low (internal): This mode turns on the Relay when
the readings are higher than Low Alarm Threshold or High Alarm
Threshold. This is applicable to Internal GM counter only.
o Turn On only for High (internal or external): This mode turns on the
Relay when the readings are higher than Low Alarm Threshold or High
Alarm Threshold. This is applicable to Internal or External GM
counters.
o Turn On for High or Low (external): This mode turn on the Relay when
the readings are higher than Low Alarm Threshold or High Alarm
Threshold. This is applicable to External GM Counters only.

 Click on the Cancel button to discard changes and return to the Settings
webpage from the Alarm Settings webpage.

 Click on the Submit button to save any changes made to the Alarm Settings
webpage, The Settings webpage would appear.

Message Settings webpage
Electronic Email Alert can be setup on this webpage. If activated, email alerts could
be sent based on the Exposure measured with respect to the set Alarm Threshold
levels.
 Enter the sender email address in the “From” field on the Message Settings
webpage. The number of characters in the ‘From’ field is limited to 30.
 Enter the receivers’ email addresses in the “To” field on the Message Settings
webpage. Receiver’s addresses must be separated by a semicolon (;).
Maximum number of addresses allowed in the “To” filed is 5. The valid
number of characters for each ‘To’ email address is 100.
 Enter the email subject in the Subject field on the Message Settings webpage.
The number of characters in the Subject field is limited to 30.
 The user will be able to determine when they would like to receive the email
alert. An Email Alert could be sent when the measurement is between the
Lower Alarm Threshold and Higher Alarm Threshold. This is achieved by
checking the “Send email on Low Threshold” check box on the Message

Settings webpage. An email alert could be sent when the Exposure
measurement is greater than the High Alarm Threshold. This is achieved by
checking the “Send email on High Threshold” check box on the Message
Settings webpage. An Alert will be sent when the exposure measurement
drops below Lower Alarm Threshold.

 Click on the Activate Email Alerts check box to enable the Email Alert module.
 Enter body of the email in the Message field on the Message Settings

webpage. The number of characters is limited to 160 in the Message field.
 Click on the Send Test Email button on the Message Settings webpage to

send a test email to check whether the SMTP parameters and Message
Settings setup webpage are valid. An appropriate error message would be
displayed on the Message Settings webpage in case of invalid setup or SMTP
parameters. Make sure to save the Message Setup webpage after a
successful test by clicking on the Submit button.
 Click on the Cancel button on the Message Settings webpage to discard any
changes made on the webpage. The Settings webpage would appear.

changes made on the webpage. The Settings webpage would appear.

Clock Settings webpage

The system date and time can be setup on this webpage.
 The appropriate year value is entered in the Year field on the Clock Settings
webpage. An error message would be displayed in case of invalid year value is
entered in the Year field on the Clock Settings webpage.
 The appropriate month value is entered in the Month field on the Clock Settings
webpage. An error message would be displayed in case of invalid month value
is entered in the Month field on the Clock Settings webpage.
 Enter day value in the Day field on the Clock Settings webpage. An error
message would be displayed in case of invalid day is entered in the Day field
on the Clock Settings webpage.
 Enter the hour value in the Hour field on the Clock Settings webpage. CAP-
RAD Smart Area Monitor supports 24 hour format. An appropriate error
message would be displayed on the webpage in case of an invalid entry in the
Hour field.
 Enter the minute value in the Minute field on the Clock Settings webpage. An
appropriate error message would be displayed on the webpage in case of an
invalid entry in the Minute field on the Clock Settings webpage.
 Click on the Cancel button on the Clock Settings webpage to discard any
changes made on the Clock Settings webpage and return to the Settings
webpage.
 Click on the Submit button to save the changes made on the Clock Settings
webpage. The Settings webpage would appear

Date Time Settings webpage

Note: The CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor has been set to the correct
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and the Time Zone has been set to Eastern
Standard/Daylight Time at factory. All data are time-stamped with UTC. If
incorrect time is displayed, please set the correct Time Zone and not just adjust
the local time. This will result in the display of correct local time, since the
correct UTC was set at the factory.
Warning: Incorrectly setting the time zone and adjusting the local time will
result in data logged with incorrect UTC.

The following can be performed on the Date Time Settings webpage,
 Set the Time Zone by selecting the desired time zone from the Time Zone
drop down box on the Date Time Settings webpage.
 Set the appropriate date format from the Date Format drop down box on the
Date Time Settings webpage. “mm/dd/yyyy”, “dd/mm/yyyy” and
“yyyy/mm/dd” are the supported on the CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor.

 Click on the US Daylight Adjust check box to adjust the time of US time zone
selected to US daylight saving time.

 Click on the Use Network Time check box on the Date Time Settings webpage
to use the time obtained from the Time Servers over Simple Time Network
Protocol (possible only if CAP-RAD Smart Area Monitor is connected to the
network which can access the Internet).

 Click on the Cancel button on the Date Time Settings webpage to discard any
changes made on the Date Time Settings webpage and return to the Settings
webpage.

 Click on the Submit button to save the changes made on the Date Time
Settings webpage. The Settings webpage would appear.

Change Admin Password webpage
The default admin password is “12345”. This Admin password can be changed in the
Change Admin Password webpage. Perform the following to change the Admin
password.

 Enter the current password in the Current Password field on the Change
Admin Password webpage.

 Enter the new password in the New Password field on the Change Admin
Password webpage.

 Enter the new password again in the Verify Password field on the Change
Admin Password webpage to confirm the change in the password.

 Click on the Cancel button on the Change Admin Password webpage to
discard any changes in the Change Admin Password webpage and return to
the Settings webpage.

 Click the Submit button on Change Admin Password webpage to accept any
changes made on the Change Admin Password webpage. An appropriate
error message would be displayed in case of any invalid entry in the Change
Admin Password webpage.

Event Report Webpage
Exposure measurement data is logged in the device on the event when the exposure
to the ionizing radiation is greater than the low Alarm Threshold and lesser than High
Alarm Threshold or when the exposure to the ionizing radiation is greater than High
Alarm Threshold. To view the event log, click on the Event button on the Report
webpage.
 Enter the desired date range in the “From” and “To” field in the Event Report
Date webpage according to the Date format displayed on the webpage. An
appropriate error message would be displayed on the Event Report Date
webpage in case of invalid entry in the “From” and “To” fields.

 Click the Submit button on the Event Report Date webpage and the event log
would appear on the Event Report webpage.

 The data displayed on the Event Report webpage includes the following fields,
o Date and Time stamp of the event occurred,
o Type of event; Low or High based on the Exposure measurement to
ionizing radiation. The Event Type is low if the Exposure measured to

ionizing radiation is between the High Threshold value and lower
threshold value. The Event Type is high if the Exposure measured to
ionizing radiation is greater than the High Threshold.
o The duration of the alarm event in Seconds.
o The peak value of the exposure to the ionizing radiation during the

duration of the alarm event.
o The average value of the exposure to the ionizing radiation recorded

during the duration of alarm event.
o The “From” and “To” date range along with the time zone selected is

also displayed on the Event Report webpage.

 Click on the Back button on the Event Report webpage to return to the Event
Report Date webpage.

Hourly Statistics Webpage
Statistics for a particular day selected by the user are displayed on the Hourly
Statistics webpage.
 To view the Hourly Statistics Enter Date webpage, click on the Hourly Statistics
button on the Report webpage. The Hourly Statistics enter date webpage would
appear.
 Enter the date in the Date field according to the Date Format displayed on the
Hourly Statistics Enter Date webpage. Date Format selected in the Date Time
Settings webpage is the Date Format displayed on the Date Time Settings
webpage. An appropriate error message would be displayed on the Hourly
Statistics Date webpage in case of any invalid entry.
 Click on the Submit button on the Hourly Statistics Enter Date webpage and the
Hourly Statistics for the corresponding date would appear on the Hourly Statistics
webpage.

The QC Test data from the Smart Area Monitor can be accessed from the QC Test
Report Webpage. To view QC Report Webpage,

– Click on the QC Test button on the Report webpage.
– Enter the desired date range in the “From” and “To” field in the QC Test

Report Date webpage corresponding to the date format displayed on the QC
Test Report webpage. An appropriate error message would be displayed on
the webpage in case of invalid entry in the “From” and “To” fields on the QC
Test Report Date webpage.
– Click Submit button on the QC Test Report Date webpage and the QC Test
data log would appear on the webpage.
– The data displayed on the QC Test Report webpage includes the following
fields,

o Date and time stamp of the QC Test performed,
o Information on the Check Source used,

 Date and Time stamp of the QC,
 Initial exposure measurement along with unit of measurement,
 QC Test Threshold

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

This product does not require periodic maintenance. The operator of the device is obligated
to perform all quality control procedures required under the local laws and regulations of the
region the device is located in and keep records of these procedures. In case of failure,
please contact technical service. When the device not used it is recommended to place the
battery disconnection switch to ON position and stored in a cool dry place.

DEVICE CLEANING
Device cleaning may be performed by following the steps below:

 Turn the device off.
 Unplug the power cord before cleaning the device.
