Back to School Guide 2018-19

The end of summer is approaching, which means it is
time to gear up for another great year in CCISD. In this
special Back-to-School edition, parents and students
alike will find all the information needed to start the
school year out on the right foot.

NEWCOMER INFORMATION

If you are new to CCISD or just moved here during the summer,
here are the ABCs to registering your child in our fantastic school district.

Step 1. Find Your Neighborhood School

Clear Creek ISD adopts a neighborhood school concept where neighborhoods are zoned to
particular schools. We are not an open-enrollment school district. To find the school nearest you,
click on the link above and enter your address. If your address does not populate a school, it may
be because you live in a neighboring school district. If this happens, check your property tax
information to locate your taxing entity. Clear Creek ISD spans 13 cities and two counties.

Step 2. Enroll Online

CCISD utilizes an online enrollment system to gather pertinent information versus providing
parents a large stack of paperwork to fill out. The online system does not require an email
address. ENROLL TODAY! Please note: If you already have a student enrolled in CCISD and you
are registering a new student, log into your Skyward Family Access account and click on the tab to
the left that states: New Student Online Enrollment. This will allow for all of your information to
remain together and prevents you from having to re-enter shared information.

Step 3. Submit Important Documents

To finalize enrollment, the school asks for important documentation to verify residency in the
school district, your student’s age, and vaccination history. For documentation information, click here.
Due to summer hours, the following times/dates have been established for summer enrollment:
Elementary Schools: 8:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m. beginning August 6, 2018
Intermediate Schools: Hours vary by campus. Enrollment times are posted on the campus website.
Click on “Select a School” on the District’s home page at ccisd.net to locate your school’s hours.
High Schools: Registration and course selection are completed by appointment.
Click on “Select a School” on the District’s home page to locate your school’s hours.

Elementary Class Lists
We want to make sure we have an accurate list of students returning to
school. We ask that parents complete their annual back-to-school forms
online by August 15, 2018. If forms are not completed by then, your
student may or may not be listed on the traditional class list which is Back to School
posted on the elementary school doors on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Forms ONLINE
This process will ensure a valid class list for each grade level.

before the start of class. Click on your school website address on the
next page to view their back-to-school calendar of events, school
supply lists, and teacher websites.

Standards Based Grading
Standards Based Grading is a system that allows your child to know exactly what is expected in each content area and
provides parents with a more detailed outline of learning expectations and student progress. During the previous two
school years, the District implemented Standards Based Grading in Pre-K through third grade. Standards Based Grading
will be folded into fourth grade classrooms during the 2018-2019 school year. Click here to learn more about Standards
Based Grading and click on available subpages to find parent guides, broken down by grade level and subject areas, as
well as a reference to the differences between Standards Based Grading and traditional grading.

Online Payments Available

As of last school year, parents of intermediate and high school students are able to pay for applicable course fees by
credit card. The online payment system is new to Clear Creek ISD and we have plans to expand the offering for other
fees from parking permits to school store items in the future. If your child’s course(s) has an associated fee, you will be
able to login to your Skyward Family Access Account and click on Online Fees. It is very similar to the add to cart ap-
proach to make a payment. The payment system, RevTrack, does charge a 4% processing fee.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Students in grades 6-12 will be required to wear identification badges. The badges will be provided by the school and
are intended to provide campus staff an immediate visual if there is someone who should not be on campus.

For student safety, there have been some changes to the CCISD Dress Code: no trench coats, oversized jackets, and any
hoods on sweaters must be worn down during the school day. Read the entire CCISD Dress Code. Be mindful that
intermediate schools may have adopted a Standardized Dress Code. Check your campus website for more information.

NEW! CCISD Alerts Emergency App
Students, parents, staff and community members are now able
to download and utilize the new CCISD Alerts Emergency App.
Search for “Clear Creek ISD” in the app stores to download!

Student Code of Conduct
We know our students will make great choices this year but just in case, we want our parents and students to be very
familiar with the consequences of cheating, vaping, bullying, making threats, bringing prohibited items on campus and
more. Please read the Student Code of Conduct, but let’s hope we won’t have to use it.

CCISD Alerts Website
If there were an emergency, this website will be updated frequently with instructions and information about
the incident, campus services and resources available to the CCISD community. Visit www.ccisd.net/emergency
for more information.

See Something, Say Something
You can submit anonymous tips through
Skylert Quick Tip. Click here to fill
out the online form.

NEW! Standard Response Protocols
A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at school. Weather events, fire,
accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teach-
ers, staff and administration. Click here to get familiar with the terminology.

VACCINATION &

HEALTH INFORMATION

Vaccination Requirements
A child cannot be admitted to school without a valid immunization record, a conscientious exemption affidavit, or a
medical exemption documented by a physician. There are no new vaccine requirements for the 2018-19 school year.
However, please note the meningococcal requirement for students entering grades 7-12 will require students in these
grades to show proof of one dose of quadrivalent meningococal conjugate vaccine (MCV4 or MenACWY) on or after
the student’s 11th birthday. Tdap is required within the last five years for 7th grade students. Additionally, the graded
implementation of the hepatitis A requirement will extend to grades K-9, as currently prescribed in the 25 TAC §97.63.
For additional information, please contact the Immunization Branch at 1-800-252-9152.

2018-19 Texas Vaccination Requirements »

Health Care Services
Many health care services can be provided to support students with minor to chronic health related conditions. It is
important that health information is shared with the school nurse such as life threatening food allergies, cardiac condi-
tions, diabetes, etc. Prescription and nonprescription medications to be taken at school must be provided in the original
labeled container and accompanied by a permission note from the parent/guardian to the school nurse.

All medications to be administered or kept at school for longer than 15 days must be accompanied by a written request
signed and dated by the prescribing physician and the parent/guardian. All prescription and non-prescription drugs to be
administered at school for 15 days or less must be accompanied by a written request, signed and dated by a parent/legal
guardian. The dosage recommended by the manufacturer for a non-prescription drug will be administered.
A student with asthma is entitled to possess and self-administer prescription asthma medicine while on school property
or at a school-related event or activity. Students who need to carry an asthma inhaler or other emergency medication
must present documentation from a physician and parent outlining the need to do so. In accordance with Education
Code 38.015, students may self-administer asthma medication while at school functions with written permission from
parents and physician. The asthma authorization form is available from your school nurse. Administration of medication
must be in accordance with the prescription instructions and the manufacturer’s recommended dosage for
non-prescription medicine.
A new medication administration request will be required each school year or with any change in the previous
medication administration request. All forms are available in the Health Services section on the CCISD website.

Technology Insurance
and Deployment
CCISD provides a computer for each
student in grades 4-12. Students in grades
6-12 are allowed to bring their laptops home.
The school district has established
Responsible Use Guidelines for students
as they use district-issued devices.
Students in elementary school will keep
their devices at school.

Parents of secondary students (grades 6-12)
must sign the Secondary Student/Parent
Acknowledgment Form. Additionally, the school district
offers an optional insurance plan for $20 per school year. The policy
information and fee payment can be completed through your Skyward Family Access
account by clicking on “Fee Management” tab on the left hand side once you log in. Only parents
of students in grades 6-12 will see the optional insurance information as this is only for students
who take home a district-issued device.

Students will receive proper training before receiving a device. Device deployment will take place based
on each campus’s schedule.

Data Privacy
Students in CCISD have access to a wealth of electronic educational
resources from online textbooks and virtual classrooms to grade
books and Microsoft applications. Many of these resources
require student login and passwords. 2018-19
The school district has taken great effort to protect student data
that is shared with approved third party vendors such as Skyward ACADEMIC
and Microsoft. To learn more about CCISD’s Data Privacy Efforts 01 CALENDAR

Student Meal Accounts
All students are assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN), which corresponds to their breakfast/lunch account.
This PIN number will remain the same as long as they are enrolled in the Clear Creek Independent School District.

SchoolCafe is the meal payment system used in Clear Creek ISD. SchoolCafe gives parents and guardians the ability to
deposit funds into their child’s account as well as notate food restrictions. Through this system, parents can also set up
alerts for when an account balance is low.

Need a Ride?
Clear Creek ISD offers bus transportation to students who live more than 2 miles from
their school or for walking routes that are hazardous. Starting in August, you can
find your bus routes by clicking here!

Communication
The school district, campus, and teachers utilize technology tools to give parents
immediate access to their child’s academic progress as well as to keep families
informed in the event of an emergency.

Parents can now select the mode of communication they
want for specific school-related topics. For example, you
may want a text sent to you if your child is absent from
school, or you may want general messages emailed to you
versus receiving a phone call at home. Click here to see
instructions on how to customize your school-to-home
communications.
Text Messaging
CCISD has a service called Skylert. This system updates every night to ensure any
changes to student contact information is current. Skylert allows us to email, phone
and text parents/guardians in the event of an emergency. We will not use text
messaging for general outreach messages. To change your contact preferences,
log into Skyward Family Access and click on the Skylert tab on the left.

NEW! Beginning this school year, parents will have the option to include their student’s
phone number when completing the back-to-school forms. Students can then opt-in
to receive text messages in an emergency situation that pertains to their campus.

Q. How do I receive text messages?
A. At the time of enrollment, parents and guardians should receive an introductory
text message prompting you to opt-in to receive messages. It may take up to 24
hours upon enrollment to receive the text message. If you do not receive the initial
text message, you can subscribe to text messages at any time by sending a text
which says “Y” or “Yes” or “Opt-in” or “Subscribe” to 68453. The cell phone
number must be on record with your student information.
Q. How do I opt-out of receiving text messages?
A. Recipients not wishing to receive text messages to a particular number can simply text
“Stop” to 68453 at any time or opt-out online at www.schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg.
Q. From what number will these text messages originate?
A. Text messages will come from 68453. Please save this number and program it as CCISD
so you can quickly recognize this number as the official source of our messages.
