As President/CEO of the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce
Tim I would like to welcome you to Deer Park’s only business
@deerparkchamber.org organization working full-time to do what no person can

do by themselves for the City of Deer Park. You might ask
yourself, “What does he mean?”, so let me explain.

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce is the business
community focused on working together to enhance the
economic vitality of our members and the quality of life in
Deer Park. As a member, this is YOUR Chamber of Commerce.
We want to be considered your most valuable, yet lowest

leaving you to be the boss. Many business and professional
executives voluntarily work on committees to improve your
business opportunities and living enjoyment in Deer Park.

In serving businesses interested in doing business in Deer Park, we
are devoted to activities designed to create more community wealth.
We collectively look for solutions to your business concerns in order

to make your business prosperous.

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce serves as a clearinghouse
of information for prospective industrialists, visitors, potential and
current residents, and area businesses who are interested in learning

more about working, playing and living in Deer Park.

Comments

What an exciting time to live and work in Deer Park as we experience
the 125th anniversary of the City of Deer Park and to see our businesses
booming and our housing market being one of the strongest in the state.

Just as the excitement of a new born baby, our Chamber has had a
rebirth this year. Changing how we help lead our community into our
next generation of a changing world that we live and work in today.

The Chamber last month launched the new, “That’s Deer Park” Mobile
App which has taken off like a rocket. This new App brings all of our
business partners, industries and the city together at the touch of your
finger. What we are seeing is an incredible interest from everyone that
has already started using the App.

Then we have another big change that starts today as you read this 1st edition of our not yearly but
quarterly publication called “That’s Deer Park Magazine”. This allows our partners to market, communicate
and advertise at a time that works best for them while keeping information fresh and constantly update as
needed.

The City of Deer Park and the Chamber of Commerce are not what they are today by standing pat but
by being a proactive leader of change for our
community. Putting community 1st in everything
we strive to accomplish daily.

We have a very talented Board of Directors and
staff to serve you and I can tell you first hand
that their strongest desire is for Deer Park to be
the BEST it can be for the quality of life in every
possible way for each and everyone one of us.

Sincerely,

Troy Cothran, 2017 Board Chairman

A Note Naomi Richison
From The Editor
Communications Director
Welcome to the first ever issue of That’s Deer Park, a quarterly Deer Park Chamber of Commerce
magazine published by your Chamber of Commerce. We’ve
listened closely to our members’ feedback and strive to satisfy naomi
the needs of our community. As a part of our mission, the @deerparkchamber.org
chamber actively works to connect the businesses, residents,
employees and visitors of Deer Park, effectively strengthening
an already close-knit community and keeping your hard-earned
dollars here. Within these pages you will find a wonderful source
of information, from news around town, chamber updates, local
events, photos from our readers and so much more.

Our hope is to get the community more involved. We want to
share your news! Content submissions including business news,
city updates, photos from around town and more can be put
directly into the hands of residents who care about our historical
city and making it the best it can be! Get out there and submit
your community and business news to be featured in the next
issue.

As the years roll on you may find yourself wondering what
happened to doing things the “regular” way. Well, that term is
relative, and it seems that “regular” has suddenly morphed into
tweeting, snapping and selfies. Not all is lost, however. Learning
how to utilize these tools of the future to promote and drive your
business will help keep you relevant, so listen up!

UHCL,” Padgett declared. “I graduated with both a BBA

“My Master’s degree thesis is a novel,” he continues. “I waited 10 years to self-publish, and it can now be
purchased on Amazon.” Jim then proudly explains how he painted the front and back book covers himself.
He states, “Soon after, I began painting for several hours every day. I have now accumulated over 500 land-
