Identity Formation - Lazarides 1A

A study in human development.

Identity Formation:

A study in human development.

Is nature or nurture more impactful on your identity?

Ms. Lazarides & Ms. Valle - A1

Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “What is going on
inside their head?”. Well, to figure this out, I interviewed our gifted
resource teacher, Ms. Moore, and asked about her life to see what she
thinks about and I believe that Nurture is what affected my interviewee
the most because of the lessons she learned growing up, the lessons she
learned teaching, and the lessons she had learned and the experiences
with her own family and friends.

The lessons that Ms. Moore learned as a kid has helped her
throughout her entire life as a person and as a teacher she used these
things to carry herself as a mature woman and upheld a mature and
positive figure. When she goes out to any place whether in school or for
fun she keeps the same image to set an example for the people younger
than her and the people

As a teacher she has experienced a lot of things from disrespect to
clueless innocence and with those she has learned how to deal with all
types of people from rude to nice and learned how to act accordingly.

As a person in general she has been through a lot of things with a
lot of people and the experiences she had with family and friends has led
her to be a person most people can look up to and someone people trust
and can relate to making her one of the most known people in her
platform.

All in all I still believe that nurture had more of an impact on my
interviewee because of the lessons she learned growing up, her
experiences as a teacher and the lessons she learned with family and
friends.

Everyday people give me advice, I find it annoying but they are just looking out for me.
Sometimes their advice is helpful out I don't listen sometimes i need to because it

could end you in trouble. It is important to learn from the experience of others because
it influence you, learn from mistake, and to relate to others.

People influence you so you don't screw up in life. Your parents, and your teachers can
influence you the most cause they have experienced more in life than you. My parents

influence me and my brother by telling us what is wrong and what's right.
People can learn from other people’s mistakes. One reason is that so you don’t repeat
there mistake. Second reason is that you can do better in life. Third reason is that you

will be successful and will get you farther in life.
You can relate to other from their personal experience. One reason is that it helps you

understand the person better. Second reason is that it helps you create a bond and
friendships. Third reason is i've learned from my older brothers mistakes.

It is important to learn from the experience. It influences you by learning from others
stories. Learning from others mistakes will help you. Reciting to others helps create

fighter friendships.

If you nurture your mind body spirit, your time will expand. You will gain a new perspective that will allow you to
9accomplish much more, a quote by Brian Koslow. People get their identity from nature or nurture. Nurture is
when our genetics determine our behavior. Our personality traits and abilities are in our nature. Nature is when
our environment, upbringing, and life experiences determine our behavior. We are nurtured to behave in
certain ways. I believe nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she is a hard worker, helps other
students, and she is confident.

One reason I believe that nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she is a hard worker. She
gets her work done. She turns her work in on time. She works hard in school. W hen I am in my classes I turn
my work in before I got to my next class or I will turn it in early in the morning. The last thing is she goes down
her own path by staying on task like not playing around with other students and not by listening to them.

The second reason I believe that nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she helps other
students. She tell students what they need to do and finish. She also helps students who don’t understand
what they need to do. When I am in class and my friends miss the class I would tell them what they missed so
they can catch up the next day like come to school early. Finally she tells students what they miss.

The third reason I believe that nurture is impactful on Isabella Le because she is confident. She is always
prepared for tests. She is always positive. She also cares about her grades. She never gives up at school
while doing her work. When I check my grades and have like C’s I would ask Mrs. Laz what I need to go to
bring up my grades. One example of a follower is they listen to other people and follow them in their footsteps
instead of going in their footsteps. Finally she is a leader by be honest with her parents and with her teachers
and she is trustworthy.

This is why I believe nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she is a hard worker, helps other
students, and she is confident. I think it is important to Isabella Le because she thinks this is what people think
about her. Overall I believe nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she is a hard worker, helps
other students, and she is confident .

Nature vs Nurture

I believe nurture has a better influence on your identity. I think this
because of how your parents treat you. If you keep dont put down rules for
your kids they will think it’s okay to do bad stuff. On the other hand if your
parents put down the most intense rules and don’t allow you any freedom
the kid will ether wont know how to have fun or they will just rebel and go
crazy.

People like your friends and doctors affect how you act around other
people. If you just act like a jerk around your friends and etc you will act like
that around new people and that will set a bad example of yourself. The
people you hang around have a big influence on how you will act later on in
life and example, i was raised in a loud and annoying household and
because of that i have major anger problems.

I think when a parent take care of their child they are helping with the social
development of the kid. When you introduce children to dogs or birds and
etc it help them understand the world better. When you introduce your
friend to another that can teach each other to new experiences and make
them a better person. If i were raised and my parents didn’t allow me to talk
to any people i wouldn’t be human. I would just be a puppet in a humans
body, how would i know how to work with other people when i eventually
get a job.

When you are born your parents try to raise you to be the best you
can possibly be. But what if your parents just raised you because they had
to, If you are raised just for the law you would have a bland and boring
childhood. But if your parents have an intent to love you, your childhood
memories will be you best memories, a nd you will grow up with that
experiences.

I believe that nurture has a better effect on our identity because of the
people around us, nature has a significant effect on us but i think nurture
has a better effect because it make us the person we re today. We are
made for the sole purpose to live but how can we live with special moments
our friends and family make for us. Nurturing a child in different ways
effects how he will live a normal day of life and that is why nurture has a
better influence on our lives than nature.

What makes your life hard? It can be the people you hang around, your job, or
school. Being around certain peers can make you aggravated. Making you get off track
from what you need to do. I believe nurture is most impacted on Joy because of her
relationship with her peers, her childhood, and events that happened to her during her
life.

Her relationship with peers is rough and difficult. First of all she does not
communicate well with other people. Once she was talking to a friend and the friend
got a wrong impression about what she was saying. Joy was trying to give the friend
advice but it came off as a demand. In addition she has a really bad attitude which
gives off a bad vibe if you don´t know her. Not to mention the tone of her voice is like
she doesnt care. Joy´s tone makes people think she has a attitude. Then someone
says something about it and she gets irritated. People always put her name in drama
for no reason. It gets annoying after awhile.

A person´s childhood can affect who they become. When growing up some
people childhoods aren´t as perfect as you think. Joy´s dad wasnt the best. He didn´t
let her do things she wanted to do. They would argue back and forth because both are
strong minded on their opinion. Another reason her childhood wasnt the best is
because Joy had to experience going to foster care. Not because of her dad or mom
but because a neighbor falsely reported a event that didn´t even happen. Foster care
is something that no one should ever have to go through. Losing your family is not a
good feeling. It can break a person. Early on in life these things had a hard impact on
Joy´s life.

Going into foster care was an event that had a major impact on her life. When
Joy got out of foster care she was afraid, like a lot of kids who got out. ¨What if I have
to go back?¨ Joy probably thought. She was scared of being away from her loved ones
again. Not because of her family, but because of the people in the world. At the same
time it made her stronger. Being more careful of where she goes and what she does.
Confused about why the things that happened to her happened. When a little girl does
not have her mom or dad around it can change her. Having all these thing happen to
her has made her stronger, caring and made her who she is today. I dont know about
you but I think Joy being the person she is now is amazing.

At the end of the day her relationship with others, childhood, and events that
happened to her had a important part of her being her. She has a good personality but
is misunderstood. She´s been through a lot and still doesnt show the scared part of
her. Joy stays strong even throw the worst. You would never know the things she went
through just by talking to her. She is the definition of a strong African American women

Everytime I get in trouble my parents always tell me words of wisdom. They constantly tell me stories
about when they were kids helping me not get in trouble. It’s important to learn, experience from
others because it can influence you, you can learn from others mistakes and you can also relate to
others.

One of the reasons it’s important to learn the experiences of others because of the influence it can
have on you. The reason people tell you words of wisdom is to influence you so that you will do better
in life. My parents are constantly telling me things to help me in life. One example of wisdom that my
parents taught me was to always look presentable because it make you look good.

Another reason it’s important to learn experience from others it to learn from others mistakes. If you
listen to the wisdom of others, you won't follow the same path of others or make the same mistakes.
It's important to learn the mistakes of others so you don't have to go thought everything they did. One
example of learning from others mistakes is to stay in school my dad dropped out of school his last
year of high school with two more weeks left and now he really doesn't have a good job.

The last reason it’s important to learn experiences of others is that you can relate to others. One
reason that it’s important to relate to others is because it will help you understand people better.
Another reason it’s important to relate to others is that it will help create bonds and friendships. One
example of how relating to others can help is if there is a problem you could help someone and tell
them how to make it better.

The importance of learning experiences from others is that it can influence you to do that right thing in
life you can learn from others mistakes and you can relate to others. The reason to learn from all of
this is to become better in life.

I f you nurture your mind body spirit, your time will expand. You will gain a new perspective
that will allow you to accomplish much more, a quote by Brian Koslow. People get their identity
from nature or nurture. Nurture is when our genetics determine our behavior. Our personality

The second reason I believe that nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she

what did they miss.

The third reason I believe that nurture is impactful on Isabella Le because she is confident.
She is always prepared for tests. She is always positive. She also cares about her grades. She
never gives up at school while doing work. Finally she is a leader not a follower.

This is why I believe nurture is the most impactful on Isabella Le because she is a hard
worker, helps other students, and she is confident. I think it is important to Isabella Le because
she thinks this is what people think about her. Overall I believe nurture is the most impactful on
Isabells Le because she is a hard worker, helps other students, and she is confident.

Everyday people give me advice and I find it annoying but they are just looking out for me.
Sometime their advice is helpful but I don’t like to listen because i’m stubborn. But I need to because if I
don’t it will probably end me up in some trouble if I don’t take people's advice. It's important to learn from
the experience of others. But If I don’t I won’t be successful and I won’t achieve.

My friends, parents, and teachers influence me, so I don’t mess up in life. My parents influence
me and my brothers and they have always told us if we mess up we pay the consequence. For example,
my brother and his girlfriend found out they were expecting.. My parents weren't thrilled but they didn’t
listen to advice that was given and now this is a “consequence” that’s being paid towards their actions.

I’m learning from my mistakes, so i’m not repeating their same mistakes. I was the first one to find
out that they are having a baby, i'm super excited, but the best thing to do in a situation like this is to be
very supportive and this baby could be the best thing that ever happened to them. I personally don’t plan
on having a baby at 20 but I want to be “young’’ when I have a kid. Learning from their mistakes will help
me be successful and I will achieve from learning.

Relating to others help me understand better, this helps create bonds and friends. I've became
closer with my older brother and I feel like our bond over the years have helped us become closer and
trust each other more. He trusts me and I trust him, we're not perfect siblings but I know he’s going to be
there when I need him the most and I will be there for him and his new journey along the way. His
mistakes have made me realize I can learn from him and I can prove my parents wrong, they believe that
I will end up like him and my other brother but personally I know I can achieve and be successful.

I think it's important to learn from the experience of others. You learn from others stories, just like
the one story I just shared with you. L earning from his mistakes will help me relate and a build tighter
friendship. I love my brother and I love our friendship, do we have our moments yes but he has inspired
me to be a better person. My brother and I have created the tightest bond and we have grown so much
together and I love that about him. He’s such a kind loving person and i’m happy for him and his new
journey, i’m excited to be an aunt and i’m happy to be an aunt to this little girl.

My mom was raised by her grandma and that was hard for her because her mom and dad
were not there for her. But she is still trying to be a great mom she has 3 kids, and she
works really hard to take care of them. When I think about why my mom is great I think
about how hard she works every day. I believe nurture impacted my mom more because
of all the hardworking people and. Of all of her accomplishments and skills she learned.

Because my mom did not have a mom or dad when she grew up. She had to live with
her grandma. Her grandma was a very hard worker her grandma would never give up on
her. She would always try super hard to take care of her. With no job or no help to take
care of my mom it was very hard to take care of. My mom, but my grandma found a way
to do it.

My mom had just turned the right age to drive . So she practices a lot she asked her
grandma to help her practice driving a car. She thought she was ready to take the driving
test she took the test, and she was really nervous. And she failed the test, and she tried
again and again on till she passed, but she never did she was about to give up. And then
her grandma told her never to give up. She tried the test one more time, and she had
passed the test she was so happy.

My mom learned a lot of things from her grandma. She learned to never stop trying.
Never give up and always chase your dreams. On till you reach your dreams if you can
not reach your dreams. Do not stop trying and keep on trying To till you reach all your
dreams.

I believe that nurture impacted my mom more than nature. The reason nature is so
important is because everyone makes sacrifices to become who they are. I think it is
important to never give up because I have to learn to form all my mom mistakes. I will be
different and I will do better. And do all the things she could not do in life.

“Nobody wishes more than I do to see such proofs as you exhibit, that nature has given to
our black brethren, talents equal to those of the other colors of men, and that the appearance of a
want of them is owing merely to the degraded condition of their existence, both in Africa &
America,” a quote by Thomas Jefferson, L etters of Thomas Jefferson. If People either get their
identity by being nature or being nurture. Nature is when our genetics determine our behaviour.
Our personality traits and abilities are in our nature. Nature is when our environment, upbringing,
and life experiences determine our behaviour. I consider nature is the best impactful for my mom
because of her hard working , defending herself, and her passionate.

One reason why I rely on nature is the most impactful for my mom because she is hard
working. My mom help out her mom with money when she was 13. She would work on the
weekends and make some money to pay the house and when she’s in college, she would work at
the bars at night and in the morning she would go to school. On the weekends my mom is a
waitress and she also do tutoring. When I hear my mother stories I felt powerful and I feel like I
could make better grades so I could make my mom happy. My mom would always work hard in
school so her mom would be proud of her. In general, this is why I rely on nature is the most
impactful for my mom by working hard.

The next reason why I believe nature is the most impactful for my mom because of her
defenses. When she was in school, she gets bullied because she doesn’t have any money. Even
though no one was on her side and no one is looking out for she still get through it. Her sister has
never looked out for her and her mom is always working, so she is always by herself. Because of
her strong defences, my mom is wealthy and successful, since she is doing well her enemies from
middle and high school are trying to be friends with my mom again.

Finally, the last reason why I believe nature is the most impactful for my mom because she is
passionate. She always helps her mom and her sister with money and always eager to accomplish
things. She is never distracted and get her work done on time. Some of her goals are helping her
mom with money, having good grades, and figuring out how to make her mom less stress. She has
always managed to reach her aim, no matter how far her goals are. When she was little she saw
homeless on the street and she helps them with all the money she got. My mom makes me
passionate about caring about my grades and helping others out when I have a chance to. This is
why I believe that being nature is the most impactful for my mom by being passionate about things.

This is why I believe being nature is the most impactful by being a hard worker, defensive,
and lastly being passionate. The top most important things about being a nature is what you born
with can change your life. Nature is the most important trait about you. It tells you who you are and

what you are made of. Overall, this is the reason why I think being nature is the most impactful for
my mom.

My Interview

Word for wisdom. For the the interview I interviewed my brother. The reason why I
interviewed my brother because as a younger brother he is a role model. So let me
take you on a journey on what i experience in my interview with my brother. So I
present the questions on what I asked him. By the way I asked him 4 questions.

The first question was I wanted him to tell a story about who he is. Well he responded
was he noted that he wanted to be a software developer. So I made him think more
about his career and he was surprised about how deep the question was. Let's be
honest most reporters don’t let the person describe his physical life. So I asked tough
questions to showed that I cared.

The second question was discuss what event or time make you a mature brother. So
his response was that when he was younger he went to church. He explained that
when he got baptised he was a new person. He said to this day he still goes to church.
I asked him will your family think of you as a role model, then he responded that his
family is proud of what he has become. I know it was a strongful subject to take about
but he answer them.

When I would sit on my couch, my mom would give me words of wisdom. She would
tell me things that would help me in life. I would ask my mom things like how to make a
bank account. When I would ask my mom questions like that she would tell me how to
do so.

I believe it is important to learn from your elder's experiences. One reason I think this is
because they can influence you. They can influence you so that you become more
successful in life. My family would tell me that I should follow my dream. And they
would tell me that they wanted to do a certain kind of career, but they never got to do
their dream job. My family and friends influence me everyday by telling me helpful and
kind things.

You can also learn from your elder's mistakes. You can ask your elders things
that they did that made a bad impact on them and you can remember not to do that.
You can also learn so that you don’t do follow in their footprints. I remember that my
mom would tell me that she would ditch school with her friends and she would be
scared to do it but did it anyways. She also said that she would sneak out her house. I
think she was kind of crazy for doing that. I also think that she was lucky that she didn’t
get caught.

You can also relate to others. I think that people can relate to others by sharing
stories with them. You can also create bonds with people when you relate to them.
They can help you understand what they did in school. Also that you should stay in
school and not do things that can get you in trouble.

I believe that it is good to listen and learn things from others experiences. I think
this because you can learn from their problems/mistakes and not make the same
mistakes. I also want people to be able to make good decisions by listening to other
people’s stories.

Everyday people tell me ways to help myself and be successful. In these conversations I normally learn
something useful. Like my mom said to never hit a woman or a girl or else she would beat me up. I think it’s
important to learn from others because it helps later in life.

People can teach you do things that aren’t stupid, keeping you safe, making sure you don’t hurt yourself.
Parents and teachers do this all the time, firstly that is a teachers job to teach you math to teach you all the
subjects they do to help you in life because most of these skills you learn you will use in life. Parents do even
more, they teach you to walk, talk and basic common sense from what I experience. An example is when my
mom taught me basic manners to be respectful to people.

Another reason I believe people should listen to others peoples advice is because my father told me about the
mistakes that he made when he was a kid and he didn’t want me to make the same ones he did. His main goal
of that talk was so I understood not to make the same mistakes or make dumb decisions that would mess up
my life in the long run. He told me the how I could have a life that was better than his and that I have the
capability to do so If I try hard enough. He wanted to make sure I don’t drop out of high school and to go to
college after high school so I could be successful.

It can also help you relate to other people. You will get a better understanding of someone because you were
told the same thing as a kid. If you and the person next to you were told and taught in a similar way, I would
then believe you guys will be able to talk more because you understand each other which you can create a
bond on that subject. It’s like talking to siblings that you grew up with, you are able to talk with them because
you were taught the same way by the same parents or parent.

Learning from elders and older people sometimes even younger people help you realize something, It’s
important to learn from others because they teach you things help you not make the same mistakes they did
and helps you connect with people. I’d say next time someone is talking to you listen to them because they
might have some valuable information.

I believe that the interviewee was nurtured because they cared for their

family, she thought wisely, and was just a good person.

Our interviewee cares about her family, but I feel like she has family in a much
more special place, even if she didn’t say it. Like everybody else, she loves her
family and her family loves her.. She said she had a loud family, which is something
I believe is common. With all of this, you could probably imagine that she has
doesn’t like saying goodbye to her family and you would be right. I believe that
since she was also in a military family, she enjoyed the time she had with her family
a bit more since she probably couldn’t see them everyday. Here, I’ve learned to
cherish family significantly more than I already do and you should also do the
same.

Conversely to other people, she is wise. Also like the majority of people, she
notices her mistakes and attempts to improve on those faults. A time she
experienced failure was in college when she got her first bad grade. She worked
hard to try and make sure that it wouldn’t happen ever again. Our interviewee
additionally stated she learned an important and an impactful lesson in life. Always
be forgiving, even if it’s hard to sometimes. Small things like unintentionally
breaking a friend’s ceramic mug shouldn’t tear their relationship apart.

She is one of the many souls that thrive to be the best they can when it’s
about being a positive person. She likes to look at the positives instead of a lot of
the negatives of life. It’s a trait that you really want to achieve as multiple
workplaces. Another fascinating trait of her is her influence. She claims that religion
helps her with her family and kids. Like an encouragement to keep going even if
you’ve struct failure many consecutive times. And the finale of all of this is that she
wants be remembered as a mother, sister, and a wife. She states she cares not just
only about her real family, but her plaza family.

She is a very special person with unique traits who was nurtured

Sitting around the table the dinner table my talks to me about stuff i can improve and pass wisdom down.
So i cam, improve and be better person in the future . i think she tells me stuff so that when i get older i can
tell my kids more o they can get better and learn more then the present generations.

Don’t repeat others mistakes so you don’t keep the train of mistakes going on. So that others you talk to will
not repeat the mistakes you had in your lifetime. My dad a had got into a accident when he was drunk and now
he tells me when i get older don’t drink and drive. And now when i get older i will learn not to drink and drive
when i get older. He also told me don’t do drugs and drive cause you can lead to acidendent .

You also have self improvement where you improve stuff about yourself and correct your mistakes .the reason
you want to self improve is so you can get smarter and not make bad decisions. And another reason to self
improve is to get better then your parents and your kids will do the same thing cause its a train of self
improvement. I know my mom makes me clean my room so i can live in a clean environment

I believe it is important to pass on wisdom so that the next generation will be better then the present
generations. The next generation will learn to improve the world so that it can get better by learning by its
mistakes.by telling the next generation the present generation mistakes they will learn and adapt to get better .

Essay

In life you have ups and downs and you live life to the fullest. My interview was with my
mom and it was a very interesting interview. I learned a lot about her life, she told that . I
think that my interviewee was more influenced by nurture because of her childhood,
culture and parents.

In her childhood growing up was rough, life was still the same as if you had money.
Her childhood wasn’t full of opportunity like a house that isn’t board where if you walk on
it, it shakes or a proper education where you have a lot of jobs to choose from but she
tried to make her life better in everything she does. I think that made her the optimistic
person she is today, even though her life was rough.

In her culture there is this street festival called Jonkonnu or John Canoe where they
dress up in costumes, sing and dance. In Jamaica, electricity isn’t always there so the
whole family would sit and tell Anancy stories or tell jokes. Brothers and sisters would card
games, feed the cow, search for food or plant it themselves. This taught her that life isn’t
all that bad.

Her parents didn’t have much while her she and brothers and sisters were growing
and they did their best to make life more comfortable for them growing up.When her
parents died it took a toll on her life which turned upside down and hasn’t changed still but
that didn’t stop her from wanting the best out of life.

My mom was more influenced by nurture because of her childhood, culture and
parent. This essay is about what makes you who you are, how your culture made you who
are and most importantly, how does nature and nurture makes you who are.

“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.” Ms.Laz changed her
life by making it better without erasing anything. I believe that
where Ms.Laz grew up and the people in her past and present that
changed her life, showing that nurture was more impactful on her
identity.

One of the reason why nurture was more impactful on her is
because where she grew up at. She grew up in a small town and in
her town there wasn't a lot to do and their wasn't a lot of people, so
she played immagention with her her brother because she didn't
have nowhere to go. This got her to do more outdoor activities like
when she got older and she rode her bike down this big hill with her
best friend.

The people in her past passed away and she seen life a little
different and that it also made her think different and they way she
thinks different is make every minute count even the bad times and
good times.

The people in her life now made her life different like her husband
like made her more confident cause she want confident by showing
her he loves her and made believe love can last cause her mom
and dad use to fight a lot so she didn’t think their good be a good
relationship till she met her husband and he made her see different.

Experiences From Others

Whenever I play paintball my friends always tell me to check my corners, take

cover or to look before I run. Advice that i hear everytime I go. I never knew what it
meant. My friends always gave me their words of wisdom so I can learn from their
experiences, I can use their experiences to help improve, and it can help me with my
future goals.

One reason I learn from other peoples experiences is that I won’t make that
same mistake. One of my friends made a lot of mistakes in paintball, he tells me about
them so I don’t do the same. For instance my friend wasn’t taking cover and he got hit
by a paintball. Getting hit by a paintball hurts so he makes sure i take cover. Taking
cover has saved me from a lot of pain.

I use my friends experiences to help improve. They tell me their mistakes or
advice so that I do better. Two of my friends are really good at paintball but they were
bad at first. My friends tell me how they became who they are now. They have
improved a lot and how they were is who I was to. At first I was bad now I’m good
thanks to them.

In the future I want to help others. I want to teach people the things I learned.
Also if I wanted to I could teach them my experiences. I can give them my advice
because in the future they can help others and the same thing will go on. Learning from
me others will know to always take cover, always check your corners, and look before
you fun or you’ll trip.

I believe that it is important to learn from others experiences because you won’t
make the same mistakes and you can use them to improve. Experience are good for
you, you learn from them. You don’t make any mistakes anymore. Making mistakes
helps you learn but isn’t it better when you know before.

On the first day of Plaza middle school, I was incredibly nervous. New school, new
teachers, and new classmates. When I arrived, I was really overwhelmed and even went
to the counselor's office. When I got home, I went straight to my mom and talked about
leaving school and even dropping out but she persuaded to stay. She said that she had to
drop out to have my sister and that wasn’t the best decision since she didn’t get to finish
her education. I learned that learning from others mistakes are vital in life to make good
decisions.

I believe that it is important in life to learn from the experiences of others and yourself to
be a better person in life. Another example I have is that one time when I was about 8 my
dogs escaped our backyard when we took them out to do their business and they made it
all the way to the intersection. Luckily I went into the intersection without getting hit by a
car and saved my dogs. My mom was really mad at me, but I learned a very valuable
lesson that day. The lesson that I learned was to take chances for the greater good
because if I didn’t go out to get my 2 dogs 1 of them could of gotten lost or even died. (the
second dog went back to our house like the good boy he was)

Learning from other people's mistakes have really taught me a lot of simple things like
video games or more serious things like drop outs. Everyone in their lives has to make
sacrifices at some point and that determines who they are in positive and negative ways.
A lot of times when I was younger me and my brother would play a lot of lego games.
Most of those times we would learn from each other in game mistakes and then make
those mistakes the right time next time. That is kinda like how it is in real life if you think
about it.

I think learning from other people’s experiences is honestly a really good thing to do and
everyone you see around you does it too. It doesn't just help people, it defines who they
are in the smallest or biggest ways. People learn from mistakes every day. I’ve learned
from pretty major mistakes from both of my sisters, my brother and mom, and even people
here at Plaza. I also learn a lot about mistakes in A.V.I.D, especially in tutorials.

I believe learning from others peoples(and yours) mistakes is important and i’m sure you
think the same too. I made this prompt to persuade you on why I think learning from
mistakes is vital in life. It is extremely helpful and a part of learning and growing in life. I
hoped this prompt has helped and/or inspired you.

Who are you, what defines you, your personality, or the things you learn?
What I really wanted you to understand is what makes you who you are.
For me personally the people around me like my family and friends have a great impact on me. The people in
my life who taught me and showed me what is wrong and what is right help me develop and expanded my
mind. They helped me become the person I am today.I believe our family history, emotions, and our attitude
has a great impact on who we are and what we become.

The starting point learning about my family and how their history and how the world has changed them
physically and mentally. Taking them to point where they feel like their almost broken but it they didn’t. Staying
strong when it feels like their strong enough, pushing threw the hardest things in life. Seeing those things and
understanding them, showed me that life is not is that you are going to face many obstacles being able to get
threw. They have define me and also myself.

Emotions have had many impacts in my life, on how I see the world and how it changes into different lights.
Watching and wanting the world to change for the better, and the people who live within it. Because what I see
that people can be so negative that they drain themselves and others, but there also people who are positive
that motivate and enlighten others and themself. That’s what makes me happy knowing that some part world is
changing for the better. But when I see the other half it hurts, upset, and irritates me and I don’t know why it
upsets me. With knowing these things I have to better and change within me before I can help someone else
improve. The goal is to have control over my emotions.

My attitude ties in with my emotions having wants and motives to things in life. Creating the proper mindset to
be positive, to be something more than being happy when I become successful in life. But with attitudes
towards others and myself can vary depending on the situation that I’m put in or I put myself in. For example:
One day I was depressed, stressed and could not take it, because of the level expectation and things for
people who need them. In that moment just like that I burst into tears because I was upset and over it. Why
that happen was I had already felt like that before left home and taking that attitude to school because didn’t
get myself over it. What I’m trying to say that you can control yourself like you can control your actions, but
there are times where I can’t control my attitude even when I can I just chose not to. Attitude as you can see
can determine how your day begins and how it ends.

All these things that I’ve said and written mean everything to me and every part of who I am. But the things
that l have written or told do not truly express how feel and think, and they never will be able to and that’s the
same for everyone. The three words are the true parts of me that hold to

NATURE & NURTURE B y: sydney.w 01. 18.19

Who are you as a person and how does everything you have ever done and all of your experiences
impacted you? Nurture is determined by the environment and parental influences during a person's life.
Nature is your genes. The physical and personality traits that make you, you. You can be affected for the
good or bad by these different influences, but there is one that influences you the most. I believe this
because of my own mother’s experiences. She has had many struggles in her life that have made her a
stronger person. Nurturing has influenced my mother’s identity the most because childhood, life
experiences, and relationships.

My mother has been impacted many ways by nature and nurture. Nurture has had the most impact on my
mom so far. She has struggled with her childhood and how she grew up, influences from friends and family
and not all good ones. Her confidence and her struggles as a person has changed her for the best. Things
that have happened to you emotionally or mentally, will definitely change you but will also make you stronger
as a person and maybe all the changes and things that have happen

Even though my mom did not have the best life growing up and `she struggled a lot with many different
things, she does not let it bother her in her life now and she lives and does what she wants without letting
her past affect how she lives now. People in her life who have left her have made her stronger because
she has dealt with the loss of people in her life.

My mom’s relationship with her mother was not great. Rarely did she spend any time with her or did things
that parents would do with their kids. She did have a good relationship with her dad and step mother, they
helped her with things she struggled with at school and all together in society. My mothers relationships with
people at school where not too great either. Everyone would always have something to say about the
clothes she wore and the way she looked. My mother wasn’t good at blocking those people out who bullied
her, but as she got older she realized that everything those people said to her means nothing now and they
aren’t important to her and should not affect her.

Nature has been the best impact on my mom in her life so far. I know that even when you have gone
threw things that have made your life hard or maybe even unbearable, you can still get threw those hard
times with the help of family and friends. You are your worst critic and you are the best help for yourself.
Change is always possible if you are willing to put forth the effort to make that change happen . My mother
was able to make the change in her life so she could live happier life with her family.

My dad always says “trust is bigger than love because
you can love anyone but you can't just trust anyone”. This
is one of the many lessons my dad has taught me. I
believe that nurture impart my dad because my dad was
influenced by his grandpa,he raised himself and his
sibling, and his upbringing taught him to be loyal.

My father was influenced by his grandpa. My grandfather
taught my father to fear no one but God and his
mom.Everytime I talk about suicide my dad talks how Its
an ultimate sin and how i can ask to be forgiven so I
wouldn't go to heaven. My dad's beliefs have impacted on
me. I believe in god and I fear him and what he can do. I
also fear my mom too lol!

My father raises himself and his siblings. My father
raising himself along with his siblings it made him a
noble person. He puts others before himself, he is also a
great dad to me and my little brother. My father raising
my aunt and uncle and himself makes me realize that you
should always the of others in need.

His appearing made him a very loyal person. My dad
alway tells me that his family will always come first. Or
that his family is innocent till proven guilty. My dad would
never tell on someone who helped him. My dad was
always been always showing loyalty or he'd help the do
something like pay their rent and he'd definitely do it
again. My father's loyalty has really rubbed off on me to
be loyal to those who are loyal to me and have helped me
get through my worst times.

In conclusion, my father is a noble, loyal and humble
person. He got this way from being influenced by nature
and his grandfather and the “streets” in his own words.
He is a father of three and he is an amazing dad and I
truly would change that for the world my dad has taught
me so much and I'm thankful for all that he has done this
for me.

Finding what made someone’s identity can be difficult. I found it to be
a battle between nature or nurture. I believe that nurture has more of an
impact on my mother because the people she grew up with, her
grandmother, and her father.

The people that she grew up with. Some of them showed her
kindness and some were selfish. I think that knowing the difference has
really built her identity by showing that there is some that you can trust and
some that you can’t. She also made some friends that are still with her till
this day. That built the trust in others and let her open up to others. But the
people that didn’t like her, has built the resistance in her Personality.

Another reason is Her grandmother raised her. He grandmother
helped get through tough obstacles in her life. That gave her a strong bond
with her grandmother. Her grandmother let be free while setting reasonable
boundaries. It helped her people skills and in raising her own children. Her
grandmother was such an impact on that she is the reason that she named
her son Lashad.

The last reason that I know of is that her father was not around. She
told me that the hardest thing that she did was visiting her father in jail.
Seeing her father there really had an impact on her. And even though her
father wasn’t there to spend time with her she still knew that he loved her.
Knowing that her father loved was enough to keep going.

I believe that nurture is more important than nature in the identity of
my mother because, the people she grew up with, her grandmother, and
her father. Nurture is more important because it doesn’t matter where you
are as long as you have someone to guide you. We complain that we are in
a bad spot but you just need someone to help.

Nature vs Nurture

I believe nurture has a better influence on your identity. I think this
because of how your parents treat you. If you keep your kids in fort knock
they might rebel or be strict and if you don't treat your kid with enough love
the can turn emotionally unstable

I think when a parent take care of their child they are helping with the
social development of the kid. When you introduce children to dogs or birds
and etc it help them understand the world better. WHen you introduce your
friend to another that can teach each other to new experiences and make
them a better person.

When you are born your parents try to raise you to be the best you
can possibly be. But what if your parents just raised you because they had
to. If you are raised just for the law you would have a bland and boring
childhood. But if your parents have an intent to love you your childhood
memories will be you best memories, a nd you will grow up with that
experiences.
