ASSURE MODEL
For our lesson, we are going to teach the English subject with the subtopic Modal
Verbs'. Therefore, we've decided to use the Assure Model.
The Assure Model is a six-step Instructional Systems Design (ISD) that is intended to
help teachers to improve their teaching & the students' learning while using the
technology.
According to (Smaldino, Lowther & Russell, 2008), Assure Model is an
instructional system or guideline that teachers can use to develop
lesson plans which integrate the use of technology and media.
Furthermore, it also places the focus on the learner and the overall
outcome in accomplishing the learning objectives.
5
Assure Model is a procedural guide for planning
and delivering instruction that can integrate media
into the teaching and learning process.
Why Assure Assure Model could assist teachers

to help teachers and educators to

that it will look more arrangeable.

7
A-ANALYZE
As a teacher in the class, we must analyse the student's
character.
It is critical to first consider or learn about your students
and their general characteristics such as their academic
levels, skills, and learning styles.
This is only the first stage in analysing the learner, not
judging his or her potential.
8
Example of Number of the students : 35 (11 males/ 24 females)
Analyze Age range : 20-22 Y/o
Learning styles of the students Learner Academic Level : Poor, Good, Excellent
1 Visual: 40%
2 Auditory: 10% This can help the teacher to
properly understand the students
better by providing them with a
3 Kinesthetic: 50% suitable teaching style, which
benefits both the instructor and
9 the students.
S-STATE
As a teacher that will conduct a class, it is a must for us
to start our lesson by providing the learning objectives
which may help to determine the student's
understanding at the end of the lesson.
It is important for a teacher to look ahead at their
learning outcomes since it shows whether the student
could achieve the learning input or not.

S-SELECT METHOD,
MATERIAL, MEDIA
This step in ASSURE Model is the crucial part in
the lesson where it help the teachers to decide
what material and media they want to use in
order to complete their lesson.
In using ASSURE model, most of the technology
and software materials are implemented in order
to expose the students with the benefits from it.

3. After the group discussion, the students will be
evaluated in a Kahoot/Quizziz session where the teacher
can assess their understanding of the Modal Verbs'
topic. 13
U-UTILIZE METHOD,
MATERIAL, MEDIA
After selecting the strategies for instruction, the process of
making a plan and how to actually utilize the method,
materials, and media that have been selected will come
afterwards.
With all the instructional steps, a teacher must make sure
that his/her plans could contribute towards producing the
objectives that have been laid down.

R-REQUIRE LEARNER
PARTICIPANTS
Instructional Plan
Provide reinforcement so that the right response
is obtained.
The student will actively engage in:
Discussion, small group activities, quiz and
formative assessments.
Feedback must be provided to the learner before
any type of evaluation is conducted.
16
EXAMPLE OF REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION
As an example, after the discussion on the topic of Modal Verbs';
The teachers are going to ensure their students to be actively involved in the lesson.
It is because students learn best when they actively participate in the learning experience.
Furthermore, the teachers can divide a group of students for a discussion based on the group
activities.
Following this, the students could enhance the teaching quality
of a teacher in a better ways. The next step is to provide the learners
to practice with what they have been taught. Lastly, the teacher has
to provide feedback to the students before any evaluation is
conducted.
17
E-EVALUATION
The last step of the ASSURE method is to evaluate students'
performance. Ultimately, this last stage is the most important
part.
The evaluation that we make should match up with our
objectives. It is because, by evaluating the learners against
the objectives, it can be determined if our lesson was
effective and whether there are any step that needs to be
modified or re-examined.
Such as, in terms of instructional strategy, materials or
assessment.
18
EXAMPLE OF EVALUATION
Learning Objectives:
The students will be assessed based on the online quiz.
The teacher provides Modal Verbs' worksheet to the students as a homework.
Media Effectiveness:
Was the PowerPoint visually stimulating and understandable?
Is it interactive and can be useful for the visual learner?
Were the students able to use computers and access the software needed with ease?
What are the blockers during the lesson and the overall response from the presentation?
19
EXAMPLE OF EVALUATION
Instructor Performance:
Teacher will provide the hand out "Rate My
Teacher" survey.
Students will rate teacher in four categories.
Rating: 20
1. Disagree
2. Agree
3. Strongly Agree
