BERNARDS WAY is a half hour animal reality series based on LAPD K9
veteran officer Bernard Shockley’s life as a k9 dog trainer of 25+ years,
husband and father! His journey maintaining home life and career
simultaneously is one that has to be told and showed!


Bernard allows us in his complicated yet rewarding life! Growing up Bernard
actually never wanted to be a police officer. Due to constant harassment he
received from police officers as a child. Bernard was athlete with
professional sports dreams like many.

Bernard was constantly seeing his friends and some family members choose the wrong
routes in life to achieve the finer things in life, usually ending up in jail or death.
Knowing he did not want that route of life, after receiving his BA he reached a cross
road of career choice. Bernard always wanted to have nice things and eventually able to
have and support a family of his own, but he did not want to obtain illegally in any way
shape or form. So after reading a police academy brochure he decided to give being an
offer a try

Bernard's wife is currently battling terminal Cancer for the past 2 years. Bernard has
been courageous through out and started The Shockley Family Fundraiser for assistants
with wife's health care bills. The Shockley's also have beautiful 7 year old twin girls who
were 7 pounds combined when birthed.

Bernard has willed his way through life's obstacles to continue to prosper in his career
and taking care of his family in every way humanly possible! Currently Bernard is faced
with the possibility of his health insurance reaching its limits with all the surgeries and
treatments already performed for his wife, therefore he will have to pay the balance up
some way some how! Bernard gets unparalleled joy from training his dogs but it pales
to the comparison when it comes to the love for his family!

BERNARDS WAY has and continues to be very difficult journey. Each episode will take
you on a emotional journey of many facets of Bernard Shockley's world! At the end of
the day he did BERNARDS WAY!
