MEMS Design and Fabrication is a core engineering course for the 4th Year Electronic Engineering Undergraduate Program at FKTEN UniMAP. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to (CO1) explain the MEMS fabrication process, (CO2) design and analyze MEMS device and (CO3)simulate MEMS device. This course was first introduced in Semester 1 2013/14 and conducted with the conventional face-to-face lecture and assessed with the traditional assessments of 30% laboratory reports and 70% of mid-term test and final examination. In Semester 1 2021/22, this course has been conducted via Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) Teaching & Learning (T&L) and assessed via 100% Project-Based Alternative Assessments (PjBAA) by utilizing various facilities & resources provided by UniMAP and applying the Constructive Alignment (CA) Principle, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), HyFlex Fundamental Values, SAMR Model and Community of Inquiry (CoI) Framework. All course outcomes are attained with the overall attainment of 62.85% (CO1), 62.21% (CO2), and 75.15% (CO3). Individually, out of 100 students, 90 students attained CO1, and 93 students attained both CO2 & CO3. From the Student Course Evaluation, students are satisfied with the course implementations (83.4%), teaching (91.4%) and Project-Based Alternative Assessments (82.6%). This HyFlex Teaching & Learning and Project-Based Alternative Assessments can be implemented and applied to any engineering courses.
