A Note from the Director

Welcome to Baskerville, A Sherlock Holmes Mystery.

The story of The Hound of the Baskervilles is perhaps the
most well-known of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. The most
famous version on the screen, of course, is the one that starred
Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Holmes and Watson.

Today’s version was written by Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor)
and takes The Hound of the Baskervilles story but adds a
comedic and farcical spin to the chain of events. The play is
designed to have only a few performers play roughly 40
different characters. So, the fun of the show is not only in the
script and the action, but in watching our actors transform
from one scene to the next and one character to the next,
sometimes in a matter of seconds.

So, enjoy spending the next two hours in Victorian England
trying to solve the mystery at Baskerville.

Jamie has directed and performed in over 100
shows through the years. He has performed in
everything from dinner theatre to children’s
theatre to comedies to dramas to musicals to
opera. He has won numerous STAR awards
through the years; his latest was for the sold out run of
Mamma Mia at St. Petersburg City Theatre in which he directed
and choregraphed. He was last seen on stage as Scrooge in
St. Petersburg City Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol.

Rick Bronson as Sherlock Holmes
Rick is thrilled to be back at the Tarpon Springs
Performing Arts Center. Some of his favorite roles
were under Jamie's direction, including Fred
in Kiss Me Kate and Oliver's Fagan. Rick would
like to thank his Mom, Mickey for the wonderful
costumes and for lunches during his formative years. He would
like to thank the technical team of Mike and Marc for their years
of support and friendship and the crew for their devotion, hard
work and patience. Rick is proud to be a member of this
extremely talented cast and hopes that the audience has as
much fun watching as he does working with everyone involved
with this production.

Mike Briggs as Doctor Watson
Mike is excited to be back on the Tarpon stage,
last appearing in The 39 Steps. He enjoys
working with such a talented cast and crew, and
thanks his wife Traci for her support and love.

Tom Workman as Sir Henry Baskerville
Tom has studied voice and opera with Maestro
Mario Laurenti since 2003 and has performed
with Opera Tampa, St. Petersburg Opera, Tampa
Bay Opera Company, Matinee Opera Players,
New Century Opera, Spanish Lyric Theater, and
The Gilbert and Sullivan Players. Principal roles include Don
Jose in Carmen, Camille in The Merry Widow, and Nanki-Poo
in The Mikado.

Liz Brawner as Miss Beryl Stapleton
Liz feels honored to be working with this amazing
group of actors. She has appeared at Tarpon Arts
as Myra Marlow in A Bad Year For Tomatoes,
Olivia St. Cloud in Love, Lies, and the Doctors
Dilema, as well as The Games Afoot, Lend Me A
Tenor, & the debut of Libertaire. She has ‘organized the troops’
as stage manager for several Tarpon Arts productions, and
was St. Petersburg City Theatre’s stage manager for Mamma
Mia. Liz’s love of theatre started while growing up in Georgia &
South Carolina. She now calls Florida home, spending time on
the beach or in her Jeep (doors off and top down, of course!).
Dave Malloy as Dr. Mortimer, Baron Scarpia,
Man with the Black Beard, Lucy, Milker, Desk
Clerk, Barrymore, Stapleton, Victor,
Dr. McCann, Country Farmer, Sir John Falstaff
This is Dave’s first show at Tarpon Arts but he has
appeared onstage locally over the past few years.
Favorite roles include Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey, Horace
Giddens in The Little Foxes and Ed Devery in Born Yesterday.
He is excited to be on this stage with such a talented group of
actors. He thanks, as always, his wife Sue (the real Nurse
Malloy!) for her love and support.
Velda Gauthier as Mrs. Hudson, Maiden,
Floria Tosca, Cartwright, German Maid, Baby,
Mrs. Clayton, Mrs. Barrymore, Nurse Malloy,
Winnie, Nurse MacKeeble, Laura Lyons
Velda's a local theatre actress who is very excited
to be back in Tarpon Springs. Her last role here
was in A Bad Year For Tomatoes, where she played Willa.
She was recently seen in the play at Catherine Hickman in
Birds Of A Feather playing multiple roles, one being Paula
Zahn. She has 2 STAR Awards in Comedy, 3 Cathy Awards,
and 6 Michael Awards. Love to her babies and the Artists.
Laura Carpenter as Sir Charles Baskerville,
Daisy, Sir Hugo Baskerville, Trap Driver,
Wilson, Inspector Lestrade
Laura is honored (and slightly intimidated) to be
part of this unbelievably talented cast. Her recent
credits include Rosie in Mamma Mia and Izzy
in Rabbit Hole. She’s thankful to her husband and daughter

Laura Carpenter (continued)
for putting up with her accents at home, and to Jamie for
stretching her beyond her acting comfort zone once again.
Laura hopes that these quick change characters remind you
of how you wear many “hats” in your daily life, and how each
one is important to those around you.

Bruce Black as Shepherdess, Bradley the
Tobacconist, Baby, Train Conductor
A few years ago on a wild whim I auditioned for
The Man Who Came to Dinner. That was my
first show and suddenly acting was in my blood.
Since then I have been in a number of shows.
Some of my favorites were A Christmas Carol and Life With
Father I enjoy meeting new people and rehearsing with new
and old friends. Today I will appear in Baskerville. I love
performing and I hope you enjoy this show as much as I have
doing it for you.
Tianne Sweat, Stage Manager
I am thrilled to be Stage Manager for this wonderful show.
Thanks to Jamie for bringing me on board. A big shout out to
the cast and crew for all the hard work and hours they have put
into making this an amazing show. Thank you Harold for being
supportive during all the rehearsals and time away from home.
Sit back and enjoy the show!
