MEETING/MASKS
In light of the fact the Country is in Code Red to stop the COVID
Omicron Virus from spreading and to protect our Club Members, the
Board has decided that Masks are to be worn during the Meeting with
a one metre spacing except when eating your Meal and having your
drink.
Presidents Report
Hi one and all.
Welcome to 2022 I hope you all had a chance to relax and refresh over the
Christmas New Year period. We will without a doubt face a few challenges again
this year with Covid dictating so much of how we can operate. Omicron and its
transmitting speed is something we need to be conscious of as we go about our
Club activities. As an example, we need to ensure that we have a commitment to
provide an environment for all of our Members to gather and feel safe. Every one of our Members should
be confident to attend our Meetings. This is why there is now a requirement to wear a mask at Meetings
except when eating. I recognise this is a pain but it is a step to protect our Members as well protecting
ourselves and subsequently our families and friends.
I would like to thank those members who assisted with the running of the Mini Golf for two weeks for
Feilding Host, a result of which we will now have some funds for our Account. The cancelling of the
Rongotea Gala and the loss of revenue from the barrel train has not helped our cause and while we have
had a couple of opportunities to work the gates at Stockcars, Ross has suggested that the future of the
season is not looking great with an inability to run under the present Covid restrictions. Hence the need
to be cautious in how we utilise what funds we have at the moment.
Having said all that. we are fortunate to have a strong and resilient Membership who I know will work
collectively to face whatever challenges come our way. Andy now has a team to start the Trust process,
Grant is full steam ahead with the Spirit of Adventure sponsorship process, the bar-b-ques we have
scheduled to start in February can get underway and the chance to help with keeping a community
garden tidy can also get underway when needed all of which are positives looking forward.
That’s about it from me. Look after yourselves and be aware of opportunities to help support any
Members of our team who maybe in need of assistance in these troubling times.
Cheers Phil

BBQ at Bunnings
We have received permission from Darraghs Mitre 10 and
Bunnings to run a BBQ at their shops as a fund raiser for the
Club. We need to be thinking ways to raise funds so that we can
help our Community when requested. This is a goodie,
lets support it.
Spirit of Adventure
We will be sponsoring one youth to go on the Spirit, applications will be
going out shortly to seek a suitable candidate, it was hoped to send a
second person but our funds are limited and we must be careful about
managing it.

PUBLICITY – Public Relations
This is an ongoing project, Arjen has put his hand up to run this, he has
already set up a Facebook page and communicating with Feilding Promotions.
Now that COVID is limiting our activities out in the Community we still need to
promote ourselves as Lions and the service work that we do out there.
Speedway
Teams Champs – The NZ Stock Car Teams Championship that was due to be
run in February has been postponed to a later date due to the onset of the
Omicron Virus that is due hit our Country in the immediate future. Stockcar Co-
Ordinator Ross will keep us informed of any updates that arise.

Meeting Protocol
It has been reported that many members have difficulty hearing what is going on. They ask their
neighbour “what did he say?” and the Meeting becomes unruly. The Board decided that we will
pursue a sound system and as a matter of Meeting etiquette. All speakers to speak from the
lectern. If members still have difficulty hearing they should say so and may wish to relocate
closer to the lectern. We don’t want anyone missing out on what is being said.

Almoners Report
Some of our Members are receiving treatment for Cancer, we wish them all the best in the
journey ahead.
DON’T FORGET YOUR MASK AND VACCINE PASS
CLEAN UP AT LYNN and JENNY’S
Lynn and Jenny would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Team that turned up to help remove
flood damaged items after the recent flash flood we had in Feilding. Their home was flooded out
when a Stop Bank burst up stream allowing flood water to enter their property.
FINANCES AND SUBS: We all need to be aware that our income will be substantially reduced for
the foreseeable future, with our regular fund raising avenues being curtailed. Some factors to
consider:
o We cannot allocate funds we do not have
o Incidental requests for funds should come from meetings as recommendations to the Board
o Some creative ideas needed for alternative fund raisers
o Club could consider some worthy community projects: Garden tidy-ups etc
o Our subs cover only half of our actual club costs, which include District, National and
International dues. Next time the level of subs is discussed, we may need to consider how
much we continue to subsidise them
2. LOOKING AFTER OURSELVES:
o An unescapable fact: we are all getting older, and there will be health issues. We need to
continue to keep an eye on each other, keep in touch with our mates, some of whom may
be struggling with a range of issues.
o Any sniffles: STAY HOME!
