Participants will be eligible to compete as long as they are financial members of an undergraduate or graduate (or combined) chapters of the National PanHellenic Council (NPHC). Team members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ® also shall refer to the North Atlantic Region Step & Stroll guidelines outlined in the members only section of the North Atlantic Region website. 2. Sexually explicit music or physical gestures are grounds for IMMEDIATE disqualification. Any obscenity, nudity, violence, degrading of other organizations, explicit or lewd acts (e.g., humping the floor, eating pie, etc.), EXCESSIVE gyrations, and use of vulgarity will result in point deductions OR team disqualification. If a team member is found to be disruptive, disrespectful, or expressly unprofessional, the team will be disqualified. This includes any vulgar or disrespectful behavior on or off the stage directed to any team member or official. 3. The performance is limited to a minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of ten (10) minutes. Two (2) points for each additional minute over the time limit will be deducted from the organization’s overall score. 4. Prize money will be awarded to organizations in the competition team category only. 5. All participants are required to check in at the "NARC" office (Pennsylvania Convention Center) between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. 6. The order of the acts will be decided upon by the event chairman and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ® 7. Beginning at 5:00 PM based upon the order of arrival, each team will be allotted 15 minutes of stage preparation beginning at 5:30 PM. 8. If the team does not arrive by the last time slot of 7:30 PM, they will not be afforded a run though on the stage. 9. Each act is allowed to have no more than two (2) persons designated to handle music and props for their show. These persons must be available as the group performs to set the stage and cue sound personnel. Music must be CLEAN (no profanity) and prepared by performance time. If lighting cues vary during the show, each team also should have a stage/lighting coordinator. 10. The beginning of the show is deemed as the first movement, word, or song from the performing organization. At the moment in which the first action is displayed, the clock will start. 66

The following props are NOT permitted on stage or to be used at any point during the performance: • Screens, floor shows, fog machines, fire/fireworks (pyrotechnics), or special lighting • Helium balloons and confetti • Baby oil, water, other liquids and food All props and special requirements must be approved by the committee by emailing [email protected]. 9. Anyone found attempting to sneak people, alcohol, drugs, or other contraband into the show will be immediately disqualified from the competition and will be subject to arrest. 10. All participants must present a valid picture ID to enter the performance facility. Other members of your organization that are not performing may not be backstage or on stage at any time during the show and must purchase a ticket for entry. Disqualifications: Inappropriate content (nudity, fighting, sexually offensive, etc.) ii. Deductions only will be made if a majority of the judges feel the organization has committed a violation. iii. Please keep in mind the audience that will be attending this performance will include individuals of various ages (children, VIPs, etc.). For this reason, groups are asked to refrain from profanity in the music selection and alluding to the use of alcohol and/or drugs. c. Groups whose music that contains sexually explicit language will be subject to penalty and/or disqualification. d. The Regional Director reserves the right to disqualify a team for any of the reasons above. 67

It is mandatory for all teams to check in at the NARC office in the Pennsylvania Convention Center. b. Participants should check in between 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. 4. Prizes a. Fraternities will compete against each other. Sororities will compete against each other. b. Prizes will be awarded to the top performers. c. Only competition teams are eligible for prize money and must pay the $50.00 non-refundable entry fee. d. Prizes are as follows for competing teams: Sorority Prize: Fraternity Prize: 1st Place - $1,500 1st Place - $1,500 2nd Place - $750 2nd Place - $750 3rdPlace - $375 3rd Place - $375 If you are deemed a winner, please notify us in writing to whom the check should be payable and the address where the check should be mailed. Prize money only will be awarded to the organization. It cannot be awarded to individuals. Scoring Judges will be representatives chosen from National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations.
