Ellen Scott
About the Vanitas
The tree in the center of my photo is also a crack it represents my parents divorce
because it split my family but it helped my family grow giving me more family that’s why I picked
grey because it is not dark nor light. The blue bird hold all of my symbols and it is a symbol for
me. I was called bluebird ever since I was little because I used to have the brightest blue eyes.
Now they are a dark green grey mixture. I drew the bird wearing dance shoes because I want to
be a dancer or a figure skater. It is wearing a heart necklace because I have this memory from
when I was younger. My parents had just gotten divorced and my mom gave me a heart locket
with a photo of her and dad in it. It helped me through everything. The heart in the center
represents my soul so I am equally close to both parents.
The left side represents my dad's side of the family. On the left the spider represents my
dad, he disappears but comes back to hang out sometimes. I love him he can always be there
to count on.I put him close to me because I’m a daddy’s little girl. My stepmom is the footprints
because she is a leader for me to follow. I watch her to decide where to go. The bread braid is
for my neighbor missi who is like an aunt to me. She always lends me help in making bread so
that was a goofy memory of it. The arrow is my little brother Ari because he is soft on one side
and rough on the other, I can either be spot on hanging out with him or miss and hurt myself.
The bone is for my neighbor's son who is a brother to me. We met through his dog and have
been friends since.
The bridge across is how I go between my mom’s and my dads. Over on the right side is
my mom’s side of the family Maile means pig in italian, this represents my step dad who loves
cooking and is always giving piggy-back rides. The camera represents my sister she is an
artistic powerful strong person who can change your mind in a flash. The chinese phrase
represents my mom she is artistic and skilled in many things, It means I love you she got this
tattooed on her wrist. The cross is on my mom's side because my dad’s side of the family isn't
faithful while my moms side is very faithful. The squirrel represents my stepbrother who is
always distracted and loves nature. The swing is my granma who is a kid at heart and is always
here for me. The snake in the center is cancer. The rose is my grandpa who passed away in
2014. He loved roses. The snake is after him to take him to heaven.
My Name
My name is Ellen. Ellen is Soft, Ellen is Girly, Ellen is Petite. Ellen is weak. I was
named after my great grandma Ellen Landers, who was named after her grandma Ellen
Griffin. The name comes from a long line of family. It has meaning. Ellen is a Greek
Origin name meaning a guiding light to follow. Many Irish people have this name
including me.
Ellen is old it was at it's peak in 1812. Ellen is a bland light colored girly
name. Ellen is a baby pink, It is a girly bland soft color. It is breakable and small. Ellen
needs to be protected. I doesn't suite me. Ellen Tastes like tea, bitter and odd. Ellen
feels like play dough, a soft squishy texture. To me Ellen in a song would be fur elise
because of how delicate it is. Ellen smells like tea, an old rustic smell.
If I were to change my name I would change it to Alex because Alex is a
strong, Bold and the meaning suites me perfectly. It means defender of man
kind, I feel like I always have to be the responsible one and take care of
everyone. Alex is a newer name for girls. It is strong metallic steel. Alex is the type of
name that you’d be proud to have. When I hear Alex I hear the song Skinny Love by
Birdy because it seems delicate but really it's strong and powerful when you get to know
it. Alex is a powerful name. It means defender of mankind. Alex tastes like strong
coffee. It takes certain people to like it. Alex smells like the woods, natural and homey.
Alex is a forest green, like my old house in the woods the color brings me warmth. Alex
is stronger than Ellen, less girly and a strong powerful girl.
The Most Important Thing
The most Important thing about Ellen Devine Scott is she is a Tree going through the
seasons. She is just now blooming when she is being used. She feels like her life is always still,
never moving. If a storm in her life comes she can lose parts of herself. Even when times are
rough she is still a Positivi-Tree. She grows only to be chopped down. She is taken for granted
even though she gives so much. Her branches move as she dances with the wind. She is used
for support, and let’s not forget, Cats love her!
Ellen gets used for many things, she gets used for pencils, for corkboards, and for
decks, in friendships, romance, and more. She is just becoming who she is and still gets
chopped down by rude comments. She has to lose parts of herself but over time they come
back. Ellen Is often used as support. People rely on her like a treehouse or a swing. She is a
place where people can go to vent. People go to her because she is strong enough to support
both of them.
Ellen can fall down sometimes. She can ruin beautiful things. She ruins relationships if
she breaks and gives into the storm inside. She can crash into anything when she isn’t stable.
Ellen hs a tough guard on the outside. She doesn’t let many people in. She is farid of getting too
attached to someone who could leave her.
Ellen is many things but above all she is a tree. She is weak and lets people chop her
down without putting up a fight. She can get knocked down by almost anything. She acts like
she has a tough guard around her but it can be easily pulled off. These are some of the many
reasons that Ellen is a tree.
