The Pines Party was conceived 21 years ago to continue the tradition of the GMHC
Morning Party. Our idea was to give it a new twist by moving it to the night. Our
Pines Party has succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. It draws a large, diverse
and international crowd to the Pines for a magical night helping us raise millions of
dollars for projects in the community and LGBTQ charities.
This year’s theme Island of Lost Boys perfectly captures the fantasy that many of us
in the community have of Fire Island. Our personal island of lost boys.
Have a wonderful night!

“I won’t grow up,
I don’t want to wear a tie.
And a serious expression
In the middle of July.
And if it means I must prepare
To shoulder burdens with a worried air,
I’ll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up”*

So sung Mary Martin in one of my earliest childhood memories of Peter Pan. I guess I took the lyrics to heart,
as I found the place where no one has to grow up - our magical community of Fire Island Pines.

On behalf of my Co-Chairs, Ed Schulhafer and Randy Wilson, I would like to welcome everyone to the Island
of Lost Boys - Pines Party 2019. The planning is done, the costumes are ready, so just enjoy the weekend,
dance under the stars with friends old and new and help us support the community causes so near and dear
to our hearts.

It truly does take an entire village to bring Pines Party to life, and this year is no exception. From the creative
geniuses at Free Radical Design Group, the best Pines Party committee ever, to the record number of
sponsors, supporters, donors and dedicated volunteers, our PInes Party community continues to raise the
bar.

In addition to the main event, Island of Lost Boys Pines Party on the beach, we have Hook - Captain’s
Quarters, The Lost Boys Lagoon, Straight on ’Til Morning and Believe to keep you entertained throughout the
weekend. Our 2019 music lineup truly has something for everyone - including rising stars, FIP favorites and
house music legends Roger Sanchez and Danny Krivit in their Fire Island debuts.

Enjoy the magic, but please remember to be safe. Let’s preserve the island and the uniqueness of Pines Party
for generations of lost boys to come.

Best wishes for a fabulous weekend,

Allan Baum, Executive Producer

THE CITY OF NEW YORK

OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
NEW YORK, NY 10007

July 26, 2019

Dear Friends:

I am delighted to join the Pines Foundation in welcoming everyone to the annual Pines
Party in Fire Island Pines.

Fifty years after the Stonewall Riots announced the urgency of LGBTQ liberation to the
world, this weekend’s events offer an opportunity to celebrate the progress we have won since
that day and to rejoice in the vibrancy and diversity that strengthens us. From establishing
the first LGBTQ Healthcare Bill of Rights to adding a third gender category to New York City
birth certificates, my administration remains committed to ensuring that residents of all sexual
orientations and gender identities have the support they need to thrive, and we are grateful to
organizations like the Foundation for helping to uphold and advance our city’s proud legacy
of equality. I applaud the Pines Party’s organizers and attendees for channeling the welcoming
and inclusive spirit for which Fire Island Pines is known, and I look forward to all that the
Foundation will accomplish in the years ahead.

On behalf of the City of New York, please accept my best wishes for a festive and joyous
weekend.

Sincerely,

Bill de Blasio
Mayor

Beyond the call to joy, levity, and youthfulness at any age, for me, the most salient theme of the tales of
Peter Pan is that we should always hold on to what makes us special, our innate magic. And, if we ever
lose it, with a little faith and the company of good friends, it can be rediscovered.

The Pines is a place, on a relatively faraway and storied island no less, where our community has
long held onto and, in moments of great need, connected with our magic. The Pines Party stands as an
emblem both of what that magic looks like in full swing and what it can make possible.

The Pines Party has moved well over one million dollars into and across the LGBTQ community
through an enduring partnership with Stonewall Community Foundation. Over the years, the local
investments Stonewall has made in the organizations, projects, and leaders on the front lines of change
have had global impact. Each ticket sale, auction bid, donation, and sponsorship from the Pines Party
adds up to something beyond what any one of us could imagine alone. Together, we have made and
continue to make advancements in our dream to exist freely and proudly in public. We have fueled
progress on dozens of issue fronts that shape the daily lives of the most vulnerable among us. Clearing
paths to education, employment, housing, and healthcare. Decreasing stigma around HIV/AIDS
and increasing access to prevention and treatment. Fighting back hatred of the beautifully diverse
expressions of gender, desire, and family we embody. In this, philanthropy is a bit like alchemy, a magic
of sorts; a great time for a few thousand can—and shall!—be turned into an even greater Movement for
all. And that will never get old.

As your weekend adventure unfolds, remember that just by being here, by being part of this, you are not
only celebrating your magic, but also writing a story that will change someone else’s life forever.

Yours,

Jarrett Lucas
Executive Director
Stonewall Community Foundation
