Introduction
Online learning is one of the imminent trends in the education sector
around the globe. This mode of learning is done through the internet.
With advanced and upgraded technologies, this mode of learning has
been made simpler. In E-learning, the students study from home or
any other place, that is most convenient for them. They can acquire
learning material online. The study materials in online education
could be texts, audio, notes, videos, and images. However, the method
of study has its benefits and various drawbacks too. Online education
offers extensive benefits to students by giving a manageable schedule,
student enhancement and augmented education access and choice.
However, as everything has two sides, online education also has some
fundamental drawbacks that can be inconvenient. Using the computer
too much can make the students prone to plagiarism. It can also cause
vision problems as we sit near the laptop almost the whole day. Online
education detaches you from your classmates. One might need to put
in extra time in some cases to understand the learning process. It is
easier to cheat in an online exam than when in a class and hence may
not be advisable during exams.
VALUE OF ONLINE LEARNING
1) EFFICIENCY
The review process is also easy because students can review as
many times as desired. Finally, online learning has been highlighted
by the minister of education since the implementation of MCO and
they encourage educators to provide a 'learning platform' to students
and include learning modules into the platform to apply online
learning while fostering awareness of the benefits of learning.
2) PATIENT
Students nowadays must go through a lot of stress while studying
due to uncooperative internet connection during study time.
Students must always be patient and persevering while conducting
online classes during the current silent season. The value of
patience should be nurtured by students during the silent season
covid 19.
3) RESPONSIBLE
As a student, we must be responsible for all things during the online
classes, for example preparing the study schedule so as not to miss
important things in the current pandemic. Even if the class is
conducted online, the assignment given by the teacher or lecturer
must be completed before the due date, this is an example of a
student being responsible for the assignment.
RECOMMENDATIONS TO OVERCOME ISSUE
ONLINE LEARNING
1. Technical Issues.
Many students are not provided with strong internet
connection that online course require and thus fail to catch up
with their virtual classmates. Some of them don’t even have own
computers so it must difficult for them for online learning.
Solution- Stay in touch with lectures and inform them about
whats happening. They should be able to understand students
situation and perhaps even recording class sessions as a backup.
2. Self- Motivation
Self-motivation is one of the most important for online
learners. However, many online learners lack of it and they also
fell behind and nurture the idea of giving up.
Solution-Write down your reasons for attending schools along
with your short-term and long-term goals. Then, you can post
them where you’ll see them and cross off goals as you achieve
them.
3. Some students being left behind
In classroom, lectures can monitor the students and adjust their
space to accommodate anyone who needs extra time. In an online
environment, its more difficult to do so.
Solution- If you have a question, you can open your mic and
ask it or stay after for clarification. Moreover, you should know
how to raise concerns to your lectures whether its during online
classes, through email or others.
The Conclusion
Knowledge and education are important in the life of every
person, but there are different ways of obtaining them. An
online mode of study is a fusion of technology and education. It
indicates how well an education system can take advantage of
new technology and strive for growth and improvement. This
mode of education could be a step towards revolutionizing the
education system in a never seen before form. As it was said
above online course is a good way to get knowledge, but it is not
convenient for everybody. Nothing is perfect; nor is the online
study method. It sure has its own disadvantages; nevertheless,
it can prove really advantageous in certain critical situations.
For example, in the wake of the lockdown following the
COVID-19 pandemic, it came as a blessing in disguise for many
schools and their students. People should choose the way of
acquiring knowledge according to their personal skills and time
they are ready to devote to studding.
