MESSAGE OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT
JUNE 2022 ISSUE
Dear PSME Members,
This 3rd release of our newsletter falls this June. The month of
June is remarkably known as the wedding month. As with any
tradition, folklore, superstition and hype abounds about weddings
in June. Some say it was for practical reasons dating back in the
early centuries. June is the month when most of the flower
bloom. The vivid colors and fragrance lend special dimension to
the significant occasion. Some attribute it to Juno, the Roman
goddess of marriage. Sealing your partnership in June will surely
be favored by the goddess.
This June is also when we start renewing our partnerships with
other organizations. We had sealed one already! This partnership
will capitalize in each other’s strength, complementing the role
of each in the nation building. It is our aim to collaborate with
other organizations to accomplish more. Partnership often leads
to innovative approach in resolving issues. As it is often said, one
does not need to reinvent the wheel. But we could make the
wheel turns more smoothly by being that gear that attracts more
gears to turn that wheel of progress more efficiently for nation
building. Thus, I encourage all of you to seek partners with the
same goals as PSME. Let us find those other gears!

JUNE 2022 ISSUE
Gideon's 300 Men
- Engr. Sonny T. Calma -
During the late 11th century B.C., the Israelites were being
attacked by the Midianite Army, and so the Israelites prayed to
God for help. There came Gideon, a man that God has
appointed to start an Israelite Army and spark a spiritual
revival that began with the destruction of idols. Gideon’s army
needed to be less in number as there were simply too many
warriors. God told Gideon to let the men that were scared to
go home. Immediately, 22,000 of the 33,000 walked away.
There were only 10,000 left, Gideon knew this number was too
small against the Midianites but he continued to trust God.
Then Gideon took the Men to a stream, and God said that all
the men that bent down to the stream to drink water shall be
sent home. While those who scooped up water in their hands
shall remain. There they went thousands of capable warriors
left Gideon’s army and only 300 remained. Gideon’s tiny army
looked upon the Midianite Army composed of thousands of
men. That night they went into battle and with God’s help and
mercy, Gideon’s 300 Army of men thrived over the thousands
of Midianites.
This only shows that courage, perseverance, and trust to the
Almighty is needed in life. Gideon was the most unlikely man to
start a spiritual revival, he was just a simple man that thought
so low of his capabilities. But with trust in God, he persevered
and mustered up the courage. Just like the PSME Organization,
it is built up of persevering and God-fearing engineers that
aims to share their knowledge and experiences to further
promote learnings and facilitate growth to everyone and in the
PSME Organization.
