Message of the
National President

Dear PSME Members,

It is with great pride that I am writing this message for the
relaunching of our newsletter. We have been sharing news,
activities and accomplishment of each chapter through all
means accessible to the members. But now we have the official
newsletter where all of those mentioned and more can be found
by our members wherever they may be.

Our world is changing rapidly. The changes whether political,
economic, social or technological demands that we keep up.
Change has never been as constant, as rapid as it is now. We,
as a society, has direct impact on the new landscape being built
for the mechanical engineers. This is also an ideal time for us
to keep on strengthening each other. Please continue all your
endeavors that contributes to the enhancement of the
Mechanical engineers. Let us not just work silently but also
share those good works to others and to the world. Good news
should be shared like a lamp, it should be put where it would
give light to all in the house.

To quote the good book “Nor do people light a lamp and put it
under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the
house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so
that they may see your good works and give glory to your
father who is in heaven” Matthew 4:14-16

Keep the good news coming! Keep PSME’s light burning.

Yours Truly.

ENGR. MELANIE P. BANAYOS
2022 PSME National President

myself that “Finally, I found my tribe!” I shifted.

As I became a mechanical engineering student, the answer

to my previous question became clearer and made sense.

There, I first heard about the Philippine Society of
Mechanical Engineers – Student Unit (PSME-SU) and as a

third-year student we are encouraged to join that

organization. Well, all of my classmates registered, even if
I don’t have any idea what is that organization about, I

registered out of curiosity. And I was also appointed as the
class representative – until my last year I became an officer.

Never did I know that it will change me completely. On that

helped me prepare, like a soldier going to the battle, by

offering technical and leadership seminars and trainings to
ensure that I am geared to face the professional world.
PSME improved my socialization and leadership skills
through various activities like the conduct of sports events

and talent shows. PSME also taught me to be responsible on

the environment and in the community. They exposed me to

community services like tree planting, feeding programs,
“Brigada Eskwela”, gift giving and others.
