The Lycoming County Library System offers summer reading
Hughesville as a way to combat the “summer slide,” a problem faced by all children

Down Under

Family Fun Show

The Didgeridoo Down Under Show is a unique fusion of Australian
music, culture, puppetry, comedy, reading motivation,
character building and audience participation.

The didgeridoo, usually a hollow tree trunk, has been played by Aboriginal
Australians for at least 1,500 years, and is known for its otherworldly sound.
Also included is a special segment on Australian sports, such as cricket and rugby.

Didge Fit Workshop for Teens and Tweens

In the Didge-Fit Workshop, participants will learn to play the didgeridoo,
including animal sounds and simple rhythms. Participants will experience

a natural cardio workout, all while having fun and being motivated

Tweens Summer Reading Club

Lycoming County students entering fifth grade this fall received a free copy of the book
“Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library” by Chris Grabenstein during their fourth-grade
school year, thanks to the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.

Students are encouraged to read this book and participate in summer reading for a
chance to win a free copy of the sequel, “Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics”
by completing the summer reading program at their local library.

Rising fifth- and sixth-grade students are then
invited to a special Library Olympics event on
