The company was initially founded in Italy 1953 by Mr. Franco Rosso. He founded and managed Francorosso International, the second biggest Tour Operator in Italy and he pioneered organized travels and charter flight to Africa, Asia and USA for the Italian market. Since 1953, millions of Italians travelled the Francorosso World thanks to his passionate, perceptive and unrelenting activities. An oasis of tranquility, the resort is made up of 109 rooms located in the luscious tropical garden. A large beach with facilities, 2 restaurants and 3 bars complete the scene. Sandies Malindi Dream Garden, Malindi, Kenya Sandies Malindi Dream Garden in Kenya is a contemporary boutique hotel nestled amongst colourful tropical gardens on the shores of Malindi Beach in between Diamonds Dream of Africa and Sandies Tropical Village. The resort features 44 delightful deluxe rooms and 4 superb suites, all with private balconies looking over the beautiful garden pool. Sandies Baobab Beach, Zanzibar, Tanzania Sandies Baobab Zanzibar, is located on the famous white beach of Nungwi, on the northern tip of Zanzibar. The structure takes its name from the majestic, century old Baobabs, found dotted around the Resort compound. The 103 rooms of the resort, The Beach Gallery Restaurant and Pool Bar are surrounded by tropical gardens and trees. An amphitheater hosts the resorts evening entertainment with shows, local dancers, musicians and acrobats. EMPLOYEE FACILITIES Room Allocation and type of sharing accommodation will be in accordance with your employment agreement and category. All the accommodations are fully furnished, having air conditioner and separate bathroom with hot and cold water. Laundry Resort uniforms are to be sent to the laundry for cleaning in the morning and collect latest next day morning. Private clothes are to be sent to the laundry for cleaning and can be collected after two days. Telephones / Employee Tuck Shop Phone cards and other necessary items can be purchase at the Employee tuck shop.

Meals You are entitled to have your meals at the Employee cafeteria as per the following times: Breakfast 07:00 – 09:00 Lunch 12:00 – 14:00 Dinner 19:00 – 21:00 Morning juice/tea/coffee time is between 10:00 to 10:30. Afternoon tea/coffee is from 16:00 to 16:30. Night tea/coffee is from 22:00 to 22:30. 2. GROOMING STANDARDS Uniforms All team players will be issued with uniforms which must be worn only when on duty. The uniforms will be laundered and repaired by the Resort and must be returned at the end of your employment. Wear it properly and with pride. Should your uniform become dirty / stained during the shift, please change it to the clean one immediately. If your uniform got damaged while on duty (including loss of the buttons) please give this uniform to the Tailor at your earliest. All team players must wear the uniforms during duty. No team players are allowed going around the guest’s areas in private clothes, except on the beach and during sport activities. Name Badges Upon arrival, you will be provided with a name badge. You must wear the name badge when on duty. If your badge is lost or broken, please immediately inform the HR Department to arrange for a replacement. Jewelry While on duty, wearing of jewelry is limited to the wedding rings and 2 other items (earrings, bracelet or chain). Men and ladies are not allowed to wear flashy earrings or excessive jewelry. Food handlers are not permitted to wear any jewelry during the shift.


7 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K Facial Hair Employees working with or serving food and who have direct contact with guests must be clean shaven at all times, alternatively have a short trimmed beard and or a well-maintained moustache. Hair Ladies having hair longer then the shoulder must wear them neatly tied with a hairband. Flashy dyed hair is NOT PERMITTED. Men must keep the hair maximum to shoulder length. Personal hygiene It is very important to keep your body healthy and clean. Daily showers and using deodorant is a must. Fingernails and toenails must be neatly short trimmed and kept clean. Hair should be washed regularly and have a fresh look. Ladies can wear light and natural make-up. No bright and excessive makeup is allowed. 3. YOU AND YOUR EMPLOYMENT Employees Record Update An accurate up to date record of your personal details, together with your employment record and references will be kept by the HR Department. During your employment, any changes in your home address, marital status and emergency contact details etc. must be informed to HR department. Passports and ID Cards All passports and Work Visa Card of foreign employees could be kept in the safe box in the HR Department with the employee’s written permission for safety and security reasons. The employee will have access to his/her passport at any time. Working Hours The normal number of working hours per day is eight (8). Employees are entitled for four off days per month to be taken by allocation by the department head or direct supervisor. Off days can be utilized in the resort or outside of the island. Off days are allowed to be accumulated at the maximum of number of seven (07) days and compensation will be given for off days not taken accordance to the employment contract upon the management written request, then only off days are allowed to be accumulated. If necessary, employee will work extra time under special occasions. Off day must be scheduled in advance and appear in the weekly roster of the department.

(More details are with your employment agreement) Salaries will be paid by the 07th of every month. It will be paid to your bank account. Other additional benefits, if any, will be paid in accordance with your employment agreement. Service charge is equally divided amongst employees as mentioned in the Employment Act and will be transferred to your bank account. Training and Development The employee shall agree to attend, commit, actively participate and complete training sessions arranged for him/her by the resort. Upon commencement of employment every employee will go through the Induction training in People, Culture & Talent Management and in the department. Timekeeping All employees are required to be at their place of work, in full uniform, at the time specified on the duty roster. If you are unable to report for duty due to illness, your immediate supervisor must be notified at earliest and get the resident doctor’s medical consultation. Only thirty days (30) of Sick Leaves are granted per year per employee. • All Sick leaves shall be approved only after producing a valid proof [medical certificate specifying the nature of the employee's illness and recommended duration of sick leave issued by a licensed medical practitioner. • During each year of the Employee’s service, the Employee has the discretion to use 15 days of the 30 days defined as sick leave, without submitting a medical certificate, provided that the duration of the sick leave does not exceed 2 consecutive days. • Notwithstanding the above, the Employer reserves the right to require the Employee to submit a medical certificate for each day of sick leave taken by the Employee after the 15th day, if the Employee wishes to be paid for such sick leave days taken. • Each employee shall be enrolled in Group Health Insurance Policy at the time of commencement and benefits shall be provided within those limits set by the Employer’s Insurers. Emergency leave is granted only for immediate family responsibilities (attend to important obligation such as tending to immediate family members during illness or death of a close relative). The company requires a proof documents such as death certificate, medical certificate or any other proof that can specify the reason to take the emergency leave. Until you submit the document company will not pay the wages for this leave period.


9 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K Immediate family members are: spouses, children, siblings and parents of the employee. In case if your transfer to the resort on return from leave was arranged and you got bumped, bring the boarding pass to the HR Department which serves as proof that you checked in on time for the sea plane. Therefore, the company shall pay for that day and record it as paid. Probationary Period Unless otherwise stated in your employment agreement, all employment will start with a three (03) months’ probation period (90 days). Upon the satisfactory completion of this time employees will be deemed as being in regular full time employment. Should the employee performance be less than satisfactory by the end of the first three months, then the Resort reserves the right to terminate the employment. During probation period either of the parties can terminate the employment without giving a notice period. Termination of Employment Should you decide to leave for any reason, you must give notice in advance in accordance with your employment agreement. Your resignation letter should be submitted to your Head of Department. The Resort can terminate your employment as per Section 7 in this Handbook and as per the Employment Act and regulations of the State of Maldives. Unacceptable behavior/ misconduct is ordinarily dealt with using progressive steps of discipline and termination of the employee’s services. 4. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS ➢ Free uniform and laundry, towels ➢ Free sharing accommodation (or according to your contract of employment) ➢ Free meals in Canteen, soft drinks and water. ➢ Employees are entitled to request to have one dinner/ lunch in the Main Restaurant per month. Request should be filled in People, Culture & Talent Management and approved by the General Manager /Resort Manager at least 1 day in advance. This benefit is subject to occupancy level and approval of the GM/RM. Not more than 4 team players can have lunch / dinner in the Main Restaurant on the same day. ➢ Free transport to and from Male by air taxi (upon availability) ➢ Team player excursion to Ukulhas and other nearby islands organized by People, Culture & Talent Management ➢ Regular sports and other employee activities ➢ Free snorkeling gear


10 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K ➢ Employee Gym and Recreation area ➢ Wi-Fi connection in the back of house area The employee discount benefits for all fixed term, casual and temporary employees are: ➢ Werner Lau Dive Center employee discount – 50% ➢ Boutique & Souvenir shop employee discount – 30% ➢ Spa employee discount – 50% ➢ Excursion employee discount – 30% (upon availability and GM/RM approval) Kindly note that these benefits shall not contradict any employee Regulations/ Standard Operations Procedures / “Code of Conduct” set out in your conditions of employment. Approval for above will only be given by the General Manager/Resort Manager. Each request will be based on merit and at the discretion of the General Manager/Resort Manager. 5. ISLAND RULES Hotel Property Under no circumstances are team players allowed to remove any Resort property from the island without an exit pass signed and authorized by the Head of Department and HR Department. The Hotel security employees shall inspect the contents of any package against the exit pass. Any damage to the Resort property will be investigated and appropriate action taken. Lost & Found Any money or property that is found on the Resorts premises or boats must be immediately handed over to the Head of Department. Full details will be noted in the Lost & Found Register. Items will be kept in safe custody for a period of three months after which if unclaimed will be returned to the person who found them. Keeping Animals /Pets It is strictly prohibited to keep any live animals, birds or fish in team players bedrooms and /or bathrooms due to hygienic and health reason and to the wellbeing of the animals. Approval of Management should be received to bring birds or aquarium fish in employee areas. Hotel Facilities Resort facilities are for guests’ use only. Unless otherwise stated in your employment agreement, you are not allowed to be in public areas when you are off duty without uniform.


11 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K Telephone Calls Employees are not permitted to make or receive personal telephone calls whilst on duty. Personal mobile phones should always be switched off or be in a silent mode while on duty. Personal calls of an important nature will be handled by the HR Department. Miscellaneous Employees are not allowed to chew chewing gum /supari / or eat any food at their work places or in guest areas. Supari and candies package as well as other garbage should be thrown to the dustbins and not on the ground. Fire & Emergencies All employees must be familiar with Resort emergency procedures. In the event of a fire or emergency, employees must dial “0” or “400” [front office] to give the alarm and get help. Privacy Everyone enjoys privacy. As a Resort team players, you are in a special position to observe the lives of many people. You must not divulge any information about a resort guest to anyone, in particular to outside callers. Be very careful not to pass on a guest’s name or room number to other guests. Do not ask guests personal questions. Employees are not allowed to enter a guest room at any time unless required to do so while performing their job. Employees are also not allowed to give personal phone numbers or any other personal information on their colleagues to the third parties unless it is requested by the company management or government structures of the Republic of Maldives. Public Relations Under no circumstances are employees authorized to speak to the media on behalf of the Resort regarding events, incidents, about guests or employees. All inquiries are to be immediately referred to the General Manager/ Assistant General Manager/ Resort Manager. Social Networks To ensure privacy and comfort of our guests, you are not allowed to: ➢ Post any pictures of guests or mention names of the guests of the Resort in any social networks or blogs. ➢ Send friend or connection requests to guests in social networks unless the guest sends you a request him/herself. ➢ Initiate any private correspondence with the guests using social networks, e-mail, sms or any other means of correspondence.


12 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K To ensure that above is strictly followed the Hotel will be monitoring your usage of its electronic media and associated services. The Hotel may, at any time, intercept and track the nature, extent and content of your telephone, internet and internet usage and may intercept and ascertain the nature, extent and content of your e-mail usage, e-mails and e-mail box. Security may also use cover surveillance and other investigation techniques to investigate and prevent dishonesty related transgressions. The Resort also takes responsibility to keep any sensitive information about employees from being revealed to public. Personal address, phone number, medical results or police report will never be shared with the third party unless there is an official request from the government structures. Respect & Harassment We place a strong interest in dignity and the protection of our employees, and do not tolerate unlawful harassment of any of our associates, applicants, suppliers or guests. Any form of harassment related to an individual's race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, disability, citizenship status or any other group protected by law is a violation of company principles and will be treated as a disciplinary matter. Harassment includes: Offensive verbal conduct, such as remarks, comments, jokes, slurs or lyrics. Offensive sexual remarks, sexual advances or requests for sexual favours regardless of the gender of the individuals involved. Offensive visual conduct, including pictures, cartoons, drawings or photographs or other communications, including videotape, e-mail, internet programs or websites. Offensive physical conduct, including touching, staring and blocking, regardless of the gender of the individuals involved. Threatening reprisals for an associate's refusal to respond to requests for sexual favours or for reporting a violation of this policy. Violation of Planhotel principles towards harassment will subject an associate to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. All Department Heads and Managers are covered by this policy and are prohibited from engaging in any form of harassing conduct. No individual has the authority to suggest that an associate or applicant’s employment or advancement will be contingent upon a personal relationship. If you feel that you are being harassed by another associate or by anyone else, you should tell that individual how you feel. Additionally you should report the matter to your manager. You may also report incidents to the People, Culture & Talent Management Department or General Manager/Resort Manager. Your complaint will be kept as confidential as possible. Neither harassment nor retaliation in any form will be tolerated.


13 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K Safety at Workplace The responsibility for maintaining the health and safety of our guests and employee is shared by management and employee. It is important that you take this responsibility seriously. If you cause an accident or ignore a hazard, someone will get hurt and it might be you. We want to eliminate unsafe conditions in our resort, but we need your assistance. All employees are expected to take all practical measures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment in keeping with the following defined responsibilities. • Take reasonable care to protect your health and safety at work. Ensure that you do not endanger any other person through any act or omission at work: ➢ Keep work surfaces and floor clean and dry any water / oil spilled on the floor; ➢ Don’t leave boxes and other items unattended on the pathways and in the corridors; ➢ Don’t leave hot items unattended in the places they should not be; inform others if you are leaving the hot item; ➢ Don’t ask other employee to make work he/she is not qualified for or not trained to do (e.g. electric works) • Obey all instructions issued to protect your own health and safety, and the health and safety of others. • Ensure that you are not, by the consumption of alcohol or drugs, in such a state as to endanger your own safety at work or the safety of any other person at work. • Take care of your own health: ➢ Wear safety shoes if required by your position; ➢ Carry items carefully, don’t lift more than it is safe for your health; ➢ Lift heavy items from sitting position, don’t bend to lift heavy items; ➢ Be careful working with hot surfaces, knives and other cutting equipment, electrical equipment and chemicals; ➢ Always wear gloves working with chemicals; ➢ Walk carefully on wet floor. • Report or make such recommendations to your Head of Department, as you deem necessary to avoid, eliminate or minimize any hazards of which you are aware regarding working conditions or methods. • Always ensure that all the proper practices in food handling, as specified by HACCP are followed. 6. BEHAVIOUR The following behavior rules apply: ➢ Ladies must be dressed properly (covering shoulders arms and legs) while visiting a local island.


14 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K ➢ Sunbathing and swimming, snorkeling is only permitted in front of the restaurant beach (during closing time) or the jetty area. (Only snorkeling) ➢ Topless or naked sunbathing is strictly prohibited. ➢ Do not offer alcoholic beverages to Maldivian team players at all. ➢ Keeping alcohol, consuming alcohol in the back of house area or/and, in your room is strictly forbidden. ➢ It is not allowed to discuss with guests personal or confidential matters, such as salaries, business figures, politics, religious matters, problems and so on. ➢ Smoking is only allowed in designated area. Smoking is not permitted in guest area. ➢ Wearing of sunglasses is not permitted for while on duty in the restaurants, bars, reception area. ➢ Smoking cigarettes are allowed only in back of the house in special designated areas. Smoking is not allowed in front of house, in front of guest, in the area of bar, pool, outlets, etc. ➢ Do not walk barefoot in the back of house area. ➢ Only a professional relationship based on your duty with guests is permitted. ➢ Access to guest rooms, verandas or the beach in the front is not allowed. ➢ Do not take any glasses, crockery or cutlery to your room from the restaurants or bars. ➢ Do not keep any valuables in your room. They can be kept in a safe box in accounts. ➢ Team players are not permitted to hang around the guest’s area at any time. Loud and noisy behavior is not permitted at any time in front or heart of the house. ➢ Team players are not permitted to come out of the employee quarters/compound any time after 12 midnight except only during emergency situation such as, their service is needed, fire breakout in the area and other life and death situation that requires the team player to come out and ask for help. If the team player is working under Guest Service Department whose shift is after 12AM. 7. DISCIPLINARY RULES AND PROCEDURES All employees are expected: ➢ To understand and strictly adhere to the Rules and Regulations established in the Handbook and Sandies Resort’s policy and regulations on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety. ➢ To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and nametag at all times. ➢ To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times. ➢ To maintain a good rapport and working relationship with all colleagues. ➢ To attend and contribute to all associate meetings, Departmental and training as scheduled and other related activities. In the event, an employee fails to obey the resort rules and policies, standards of performance; rules of conduct and does not conform to work ethics; the company has the jurisdiction to impose appropriate disciplinary measures and progressive disciplinary action.

The objective is to help the individual, whose performance and or conduct has failed to reach the required standard and to make the necessary improvement. However, certain severe infractions will not be tolerated and immediate termination of employment will be pursued. To make sure that employees do not unknowingly commit an offence, please read through the following list of offences. Major / Severe Offences 1 – Unexcused absence from work for 4 consecutive days without prior approval from your department head. 2 – To be rude, discourteous, undignified or indifferent when dealing with guests. AS well as immediate supervisors / managers. 3 – Any form of soliciting guests to obtain gratuities. 4 – Associating with guests in the Hotel or unauthorized entry into a guest’s room unless during the course of your duty. 5 – Attempting to strike, assault or molest a guest, fellow employee, supervisor or subordinate whether on or off duty. 6 – Willful and deliberate destruction of damage of property belonging to the Hotel, guests or other team players. 7 – Reporting to work or working whilst under the influence of alcohol or narcotics substances. 8 – Dishonesty such as, but not limited to: theft, falsification of any records, making fraudulent statements, falsifying customer invoices, receipts, deliberate overcharging, using paid invoices for another transaction, theft or misappropriation Hotel, guest or employee property. The Resort can terminate your employment with immediate effect due to following reasons: If the employee is found guilty of theft, gross misconduct, violence, insobriety, drug and alcohol consumption other than explained under the employee benefits, sexual harassment, and willful damage to property, negligence of safety and security rules. Disciplinary Procedures If there is a violation of the rules, the employee will be given an explanation of the reasons for disciplinary action that may be taken. The employee may, if they wish, be accompanied by a fellow employee from their own department at the disciplinary proceedings. Before a decision is reached, the employee will be interviewed and given the opportunity to state their case. Depending on the circumstances and the severity of the offence, the following range of disciplinary sanctions may be taken: ➢ Counseling / Verbal Warning ➢ Written Warning ➢ Dismissal / immediate removal from the island


16 | P a g e Sandies Resorts – Maldives SANDIES BATHALA RESORT I N D U C T I O N / E M P L O Y E E H A N D B O O K Counseling / Verbal Warning This is essentially a verbal warning to draw the attention of the employee to the ways in which their performance or conduct does not meet the required standard. As it is a verbal warning, counseling (written document) Written Warning This is a formal warning and will be recorded in the employee personnel file. The warning will contain a written statement of the offence committed and the employee will be warned of the consequence of failing to meet the required improvement. Employees are obliged to sign a written warning. Termination of Employment This is the last corrective action that may be taken. An employee may be terminated after 2 written warnings if there was no improvement in performance as it was agreed previously. Employment can be terminated after the first serious offence, as a result of failure to improve performance or conduct, or in case of repeatedly committed offence (e.g. employee continuously late for work). The employee will be given notice according to the contract of employment. Payment in lieu may also incur. (More details are with your employment agreement) Conclusion Your authenticity, courtesy, professionalism and commitment to guest service is the most important “thing” we have to offer our guests – that is what makes Sandies Bathala Resortspecial – that is what makes guests repeat their visit and return again.
